You guys should check out this family who migrated from Jamaica with basically nothing. They have good content and also living in Edmonton. I love how they came with nothing but now own a home and everything. They can give you guys some good advice. Their name is Di Anderson Family. Check them out.

This was a great video... I've been watching... single mom moving to Calgary soon, and I've been researching alot.... Sorry about the water bill... i did know about the additional costs (through reddit comments on average utility cost) I did take with a pinch of salt... but it was around 90 to 100 for a townhouse in 2023 so it seems about right...Glad I can update my budget spreadsheet now... thanks, I will check out the internet plan....Congratulations on the job, and I'm thankful God brought me to your page to reassure me that all will be well

Ok, I was surprised when you folks rented a townhouse, I can understand if both of you were employed full time however it is definitely cheaper to rent an apartment if you're choosing for one parent to stay home. Utilities will always go up in a townhouse. Sorry you got caught off guard. God bless!

IDK man with two kids an apartment sounded like a nightmare. I know others do it and live but man, I didn't want that experience. But so far, God has been good! Oh and I also think that even with the utilities, the apartment doesn't save that much, it seems to be maybe $100 or less! I'd pay that for the convenience, lol.

There isn’t any surprise with your bill, wait till you hear how much money we pay for utilities. Like you mentioned there’s fees upon fees upon fees. But you guys are no being deceived utilities just continues to go up. However, picking an apartment with perks would have been more idle especially for new comers or even young couples starting out. I live in Edmonton and the cost for power that you are saying if it's through Epcor is quite normal, before we switched to direct energy our Power and Waste/Water was about $600 in the summer granted we live in a 5 bedroom house that we own, with our Energy and gas now through direct energy it costs us a little over $300 and that's with us running our AC the entire time 24/7. If I could suggest maybe talking to direct energy if you aren't on a contract with Direct energy I would do so, you'd save so much money.

Oh this is mightily helpful. We’re with Xoom energy and definitely will look into comparing rates. I must say though, as a newcomer navigating the different utilities is a quagmire and we mostly depended on a broker to secure good fixed rates.
@sparklinbudgets
@sparklinbudgets 24 күн бұрын
@@ibrahim6960 I hear you, unfortunately with a broker you can’t be assured that they are getting the best rates either because sometimes they might not know either.
