Germans and Christmas are two things that go together. After all it was Prince Albert, the German husband of Queen Victoria that bought the first Christmas tree to the UK and made the tradition popular. Even today Germany to me is one of the homes of Christmas with their traditional Christmas markets.

I took my daughter to the Nuremberg Christmas market after visiting the Strasbourg market last December (2022). I bought so many wooden rolling pins and wooden molds. Loved visiting there at that time!

I remember the older German lady that lived next door to us when we were growing up. She lived alone next door to our very noisy house with 4 children. We called her Oma. She baked spritz cookies ( I called them S cookies) and an apple strudel every Christmas for us. Each of us children, 3 girls and 1 boy, also got a new pair of knitted slippers every year. She made our parents a crocheted granny square quilt and I still have it. I'm 64 now. I remember this sweet person with fond memories ❤

We habe a KZbin Chanel now and we try everything. OMG ihr seid so unfassbar bezaubernd ❤ Ich werde dieses Jahr auch wieder backen und zwar jede Menge. Wir sind über Weihnachten nach England eingeladen, werden das erste mal die Familie des Freundes meiner Tochter kennenlernen. Es ist ausgemacht, keine Geschenke, da wir aber am 25. eingeladen sind, dachte ich über hübsche Dosen mit hervorragenden gebackenen Plätzchen dürfte sich jeder freuen, ohne das es zu viel ist. Ich mache Spritzgebäck mit einem Kitchenaid Aufsatz, das geht soooo einfach, aber ich bin nie auf die Idee gekommen Tannenbäume zu machen, sooo süss. Wird dieses Jahr gemacht. This takes me back. My maternal grandfather was German and every holiday season my grandmother, my mom and aunts would get together to bake what looked like tons of Christmas cookies. We had the old big tins to store them in.

Great job on the Cornish wear plate Jorge! Being of German descendants of course Christmas is the big holiday. I lived for three years in a German community in Nebraska, USA. They hailed from the Tutzing, Germany area. They had the most delicious every day brown bread. I have never had it anywhere else. Would love to get the recipe. It wasn’t a rye bread, but the closest commercially available is pumpernickel.

Oh hahaha, es ist tatsächlich kein Problem es auf English zu erklären aber wir haben 10 Stunden gedreht und da wir ja permanent zwischen Deutsch und Englisch switchen, war ich am Ende einfach total kaputt. 2 der Plätzchen haben wir ja glutenfrei gebacken und sie sind sehr lecker. Liebe Grüße
