Oh my this brings back so many good memories. My Mom is German. My Dad met and married her in Germany when he was in the military. She continued all of the wonderful German traditions throughout our childhood. Christmas stollen, marzipan, and liebgucan were all enjoyed in our home. My Mom made the best Christmas cookies from scratch too. She is now 88 yrs old with Dementia but she was the best Mom ever and the memories live on with us!

I loved that Joerg breaks out in spontaneous dance. My dear sweet late husband was notorious for swirling you into dance at the drop of a hat. Many times our whole family would have a dance fest at some random rest stop. He left us seven years ago but he left us with so many wonderful memories. He also loved stollen every year that we had to hunt down at either World Market or Trader’s Joe. After watching you make one, I wish I would have tried my hand at it. I still might in his honor. 😊

What a lovely feeling to hear Joerg sing such a worldwide Christmas song in the German tradition. I am African American and I love that we can celebrate Christ and Christmas in so many wonderful ways. This so reminds of my Mom and I decorating the tree and the smell of delicious food, dad and I singing Christmas carols, family and friends honoring God, giving thanks for our blessings and of course blessing others. Danke!

I grew up with all these German sweets. My Balkan aunt used to live in Munich for 42 years, and she used to send us huge care packages for Christmas with marzipan, lebkuchen, rum kugeln, Mozart kugeln, Christ stollen, spekulatius, chocolates, Christmas chocolate ornaments and tons of other Christmas related things. Luckily, times have changed, and we have all of those things down here as well, so I don't need to wait anymore :) Also, I like to make Christmas sweets, so before Christmas, my mom and I bake all sorts of cookies, mostly old traditional German recipes.

When I was growing up, my grandmother (whose father was Swiss French and her mother from Acadia in Maine) always made stollen at Christmas- and several loaves at that! We saved it for Christmas morning, nice and fresh and we toasted it on the later days and swirled it with butter. I can still taste it, too! When I was very ill - several times over the past ten years - I wished she would ascend from Heaven and make me stollen or Parker House rolls. She could have cured me far faster than modern medicine! She was a fabulous cook and baker and there was love in everything she made. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely tradition...❤

You both were adorable making the stollen! I was smiling the entire video and will definitely get stollen at my ALDI.

For anyone by who can’t find stollen with marzipan ; Morrisons sainsburys and Ocado ( marks and Spencer’s ) usually do quite good ones. Not authentically German but very similar. We love Christmas but have to have the German treats too, as my dad was in national service in Germany for three years in the 1950’s and he always loved the German Christmas treats too. Thanks for sharing your recipe. 😊

Oh this is our favorite at Christmas!! I love you made it.. and the dancing was a sweet bonus!!❤❤ Every Christmas my Mom would make Stollen and I remember her storing it in the attic! My Dad would tease her for a little bit of it before it was “seasoned” ! Thanks for this sweet memory.. love the cookies too.. we have a great German store in Cleveland where we can buy them! Your entire video is so happy and makes for a delightful time spent online with you both! Best wishes!! 🥰🎄

Thank you so much! Yes, one should store it in a cool and dry place. Can't wait for Jörg to try it.
