Honestly Maddie, this has to be one of my favourite videos on your channel so far! From a wonderful Cornish dawn chorus, that sweet visiting bird on you window while you were doing your skincare, reflections on managing chores, right the way through bisseling your sofas, and what turned out to be a very productive Sunday, finishing with daffodil picking and Roxie running free. Thank you for inviting us in to your Sunday. Yes definitely, more of these please!

Yup. Totally relate with the feeling off when my husband is away and with the enjoyment of all the beauty/self care routines. Even if I’m not going anywhere and even if an hour later I put my sweats on and toss my hair into a messy bun, I always always always feel so much better if I get dressed, tend to my skin and hair and at the very least do my brows and put on some tinted lip balm. It’s soothing and somehow fortifying. I think it communicates to our psyche that we are respected and valued and such. Maybe it’s just the routine. I get the same mental/emotional boost from making my bed and putting my clothes away every day. The days I don’t, I feel slightly off and mentally scattered. Just accomplishing that one small thing every day has proven to be quite important to my well being. The older I get the more I understand why the older people in my life have always been so protective of their routines lol. I am seeing that I will be exactly the same when I get to their age. Maybe because so much is totally out of our control and life has a way of taking over with it’s own agenda, these little things help us feel grounded. Whatever the reason … I’m a fan 😊

I always love your honesty and openness in your vlogs. I definitely resonate with your feelings about feeling a little weird when the people you live with (loved ones) are away. What helps me is doing the things I don't normally do/do something nice for myself in order to have something to remind myself. It's always a nice reminder that I can fill my own cup and check in with myself. On a separate note! I love daffodils they always remind me of spring.

I'm a shift worker so routine is completely out of the question for me! I have learned to work around it by having my to-do lists span a week or even a month, that way I'm not tied to having to do anything on a specific day, as long as it gets done by the end of the set time period I've allowed. That way if I've had a rough day at work the day before, or unwell or just not feeling up to it I can let myself have that day 'off'. I find I have enough days where I have the energy and motivation to get lots done so it usually evens out! I completely understand the guilty feeling of not doing things though, but you have to learn to let yourself have those lazy days when you need them. I am now going to clean my sofa, thanks for that motivation!

You’ve so hit the nail on the head about weekends! I always think I need a break and need to do nothing and then wonder why I don’t feel better or rested at the end of it, and I think it’s just that lying in front of the tv all day just isn’t restful for me anymore. You are so expressive and eloquent in describing your mood and feelings and yes dependence does create insecurity and I am so aware of that and live on my own and do not want to depend too much to make me strong but you put it so well and looking after yourself is so good for your mental health ie skincare and caring about what you wear and treating yourself as well as you can and not necessarily materialism as you don't have to spend alot on fashion or beauty and there are natural products you can use at home. I was only thinking the other day products have disappeared like dark chocolate bounty bars that I loved and baby wash and oil products in small sizes only in Savers but Cornish daffodils remain one thing you can be sure of. Thank God.

This was honestly a mental health lifting vlog for me. I am so happy you shared all the things in your head that you did because I was saying, "me too" to all of them and found it a great comfort. I've honestly been struggling after a big life-changing event and this was such a comfort. Also what you said about approaching your chores like a Sim will change my life. 😅 I make my list every day but then tend to overthink the big picture of what I have to do and get myself overwhelmed and end up being scatter-brained. Just going on about my chores today like a Sim changed my entire day today. Thank you for sharing all of these little things this time. Grateful. ❤️

I once heard a saying of "Resting your body and mind is still being productive." Because ur looking after and listening to yourself and what u want and need in that moment. So in the present moment, il ask myself how i am feeling. If i am feeling tired, exhausted or need a break i remind myself i am still being productive because i am resting and looking after my mind and body :)

That moment when you’re talking about MY FAVORITE APP EVER! Yeah, I can’t recommend it enough. There are some incredible features… for example, you can store the cost of items per store, so you always buy the cheapest one when you’re in a specific store. I LOVE being able to store a picture of a grocery item so my partner can get the exact brand/flavor/etc. when he does the shopping. I also sort recipes by rating a lot so I can go by my favorites when I’m not sure what to make. Lol I can go on and on, but its definitely worth the price!!

Omg ! I had to comment. I totally relate to you about routines and weekends. I used to feel a pressure to “relax” or do something different at the weekend. But I like my routines, and I feel lost without a plan for the weekend, even if its trivial things…. I need a list. I am an anxious person and have been since a child. Even if I have a long lie in, it totally throws me off balance for the day. I seem to be on edge all day if I don’t plan things to do. As I’ve gotten older Ive realised what ever works for me is best. And if that means having a to do list 7 days a week then so be it.

We cover our sofa and armchair with a couple of nice throws/blankets during the winter as the dog brings mud in from the garden every day. In the spring and summer then the sofas are spotless, without any deep cleaning required. P.s. really enjoyed this video - I used to watch you more for food content but the last couple of years I have preferred more daily, 'rambling' vlogs with a mix of content.

We have to have a blanket on our sofa at all times because of our dogs and then I can wash the blanket every 2 weeks or so. It really saves the sofa. I love my skincare routine and if y’all haven’t tried a light morning face massage, it’s sooooooo nice!! It made the whole morning routine even more enjoyable and relaxing. I don’t use oils or anything, just do it after I put my moisturizer, it’s slippery enough for couple of minutes of massaging and I also feel the products work better when I work them in! Especially after them salty snacks or wine in the evening, helps with depuffing 💆🏼♀️

And if the color leeks out of the item in the wash, you can rewash the ruined garment right away, most times the color will come off! You can try after it dries, that also worked sometimes, for example soaking or washing with white vinegar

Love videos like this! And I like the chattiness, it’s like having a chat with a friend! Also, I get this as well, when I come back home after spending a couple of weeks with my boyfriend I feel sad and off - obviously because I miss him, but it’s also the lack of endorphins I think - which I become used to getting a lot of when with him. And also you have more time to think - you’re not bouncing off every single thought to someone and you have less distractions, which can through you off and make you overthink.

Hi Maddie, another cosy vlog :) Just wanted to say with the cleaning of the furniture, you need to wet all the surfaces to prevent tide marks (I think you asked about it on IG as well). I have messy pets too and learnt this after a few attempts! Also I suggest rinsing your furniture with water as well because cleaning solutions can damage the fabric if not rinsed. Plus it stops the machine getting too grubby. Hope that helps x

I feel the same way about the skincare, makeup, fashion, fitness etc... I hate that it’s being looked at as a bad thing now days. Or that we shouldn’t care about those things or like doing those things is somehow not a good thing. I love how it all makes me feel. I’m not trying to be anyone else and I’m not doing it for anyone else. I’m doing those things for myself. Maybe that’s the difference. If you feel you have to do them and you don’t want to, then maybe it’s not right for you. But I think for the most part. It’s a wonderful thing to help women feel good in general. And I think the majority of women enjoy those things and it does help the, feel good inside. ❤

The best way to eat an artichoke: put some extra virgin olive oil in a bowl with some salt, take one artichoke leaf at the time and soak just the bottom part of it and eat it. Then eat what's left after you finished the leaves. It's crunchy and the taste is amazing. Remember to use lemon on your hands and mouth to remove the black because artichokes do stain a lot.

It may help you to Scotchguard your furniture to save you time as it is meant to help remove any dirt. That Bissell cleaner did a good job though. I have to wash covers on my dog's settee and he is not allowed upstairs. I have an old 1930's leatherette sofa for him and put fleecy throws over that I wash and unfortunately Wilko stopped doing them so whenever I can I get one to save on washing and they keep him warm. Yes really get the dog guilt and it is awful even if I have to go away without him. I have a good neighbour who looks in on him and feeds him and gives him water if I rarely go away without him overnight so he is happy in his usual environment. He knows when he is pushing me too much as he sits on his bed and has a sleep bless him. I love taking him for a long eve walk - does us both good.
