Wished I'd watched you first. Just did my 500 on a 5045E and lost 4 Gallons of diesel following Deere's stupid instructions and dealing with the free flow. Never thought of clamp and no 5045 videos on YT. Found out about you on TractorbyNet. Great video and camera and sound are excellent.

Placed a WPS shut-off valve on the fuel line today. Saves the clamping, easy and hidden. A theft deterrent, too. Just a thought.

I think you can take a small piece of flashing metal and make a little tray to slip under that filter and direct the oil off the frame and into the pan below. I did that for my boat motor and it works perfect.

They're making the tractors more compact and it seams everything is in the way. I have the same problem when working on JR (6400). You have to compact yourself to get in there to the filters.

Thanks for the video. Procedure similar to servicing my Workmaster. Just like your Deere the dang dipstick is aggrrvating to access. I prefer white colored filters to mark with a black sharpie for date and hours. I use blue disposable gloves when servicing my New Holland. Never seen green ones before. Thanks again for all the videos.

I have actually added a shut off to several of these tractors. Fuel line should run right along the frame rail back to the tank in the rear. I put the valve about even with the steps if I remember right. Been a while since I’ve done one but if I remember correctly that’s how I done it. Take care.

Tim, I had a 2012 5075E OOS that had a red fuel shutoff right before the filter. I now have a 2018 Cab 5075E that as the red fuel shutoff right before the filter. I've been looking at the JDParts website and can see it on the Tier2, 3 and IT4 versions, but the first tractors with the FT4 engines do not have a fuel shutoff for some reason.

I hate horizontal filter positions because you can't pre-charged them to prevent blowing a huge snot of air across the bearings on start-up ! In this sort of situation I "pre-wet" the filter media with some of the new oil. Works for me but everyone that's worked with machinery for any length of time has their own habits and tricks !

It seems as though Deere deliberately places their filters in non convenient locations to where owners might prefer the Deere shop over DIY. One reason i am debating on LS over Deere is simplicity of maintaining it myself vs complexity of poor access and time vs shop doing it. Curious how Case does theirs on the 75hp range. Clean tractor though, does it work or gets prepped for shows? From what i here Deere does have really great parts distribution though.

I have been quite happy with mine. I bought mine with a cab on it. They put in the cheapest radio (Jensen JHD xxxx) and I found a plug and play Jensen JHD 1635BT on Amazon that had am, fm, Bluetooth, Weather, and Sirius for $270. Two Allen bolts and 30 minutes and it was done. Exterior lighting for night use is pretty good front and back. If you want to disconnect the three point quickly, the imatch option is the best $300 you can spend. It runs more than a day on one tank if light duty, and about 6 hours if you are pulling hard (20 gallon tank). The A/C will keep you cool up to about 110 F. Above that, the A/C starts having a hard time keeping it cool, but it is NOT uncomfortable to run that way for hours. I wasn’t going to get the cab option (“too much money, I can work at night on hot days.....”) but am VERY thankful I did get it. I would have had numerous days on the farm where I wouldn’t have worked at all due to the heat without a cab. The rear window opens as well as the two side windows. My only issue was in day one. After about 2 hours of work, I noticed the three point wasn’t lifting all the way. I got out and saw there was a small puddle of hyd fluid under the cab. The seals on the manifold had blown (I found drips on the trailer that I brought it home with, so it was blown before I picked it up). I called the dealer and she had a service truck out to my farm by 3:15 that afternoon. Not a problem since then. All in all, I love the tractor. Instead if a box blade as part of the package, I swapped it for the Frontier 84” rear blade. I used that to cut my 1600 foot long driveway. Lately, I have been using the tractor to prep my field for grass planting next month.

Good service is key. I tried one at our place after it was in the shop like 6 weeks and it died on me a few days later & ended up sitting there for 2(!) weeks before they came back to get it. I ended up getting a Massey 4707 and have loved it the past nearly 2 years & 208 hrs. It’s a tad heavier than I need but works great when using the grapple with logs/trees & no rear weight/attachment needed. Also really love the tires..ag like performance yet r4 smooth. Glad you’ve enjoyed your JD!
