I scored 3 brand new in the box for $50 each if I remember correctly. I had so many messages it was tuff lol. Leaned back into a futon bed or an angled couch. Sold each 1 for $150 fast. For blind deliveries where they insisted on delivering a couch sight unseen, would you recommend a digital downpayment or small upfront fee (that you would deduct from the price of the couch) to cover yourself if they flaked? If so how much would you ask for? I think around $20-$40 might suffice but you'd know best.

Me too, I bought a used couch & love seat a couple years ago for 350., it was really nice. I also picked it up. So I think he's right on the free delivery.
@michaelcrump72254 жыл бұрын
A couple lessons from an active furniture reseller: 1) you absolutely can sell sofas for above 500. You just have to find the right ones. I just sold two Ethan Allen sofas for 1,000 bucks each. name brands are everything in he sofa world. If that sofa you’re sitting on is really worth $2,400 then I would probably sell for $700-$1000 (if its in great shape). 2) bed bugs can be anywhere. ANYWHERE. It doesn’t matter if your place is clean or dirty. The biggest at risk sofas are people who travel often. That’s how bed bugs get around. They are hitchhikers. 3) invest in the right vehicle. Buy a box truck or a cargo van. A pickup is a good start but if you want to get serious, upgrade to a box truck as soon as you can afford it. You will be thanking me when your hauling away that 3k sofa in your nice dry cargo van meanwhile while its dumping rain outside. 4) You don’t need a helper. This is something you can absolutely do yourself (like ryan said). People are trying to get rid of there sofa. When you find a deal its probably because they are moving or their new sofa is on the way and they have to get rid of their old one. 9 times out of 10 they are more than willing to help load up. Every once in awhile you will have someone who doesn’t want to help and in that case you might have to hire help or find someone to help. 5) I never offer free delivery unless the sofa is a major cash cow or the delivery address is within 10 miles. Actually part of my income is based on charging for delivery. Sofas sell so well its not worth it. I always have a flat rate for delivery that is affordable to the customer but worth it to me. If the customer doesn’t like the charge then there is always someone else willing to buy. The concept of free delivery is sound, but in in reality, you just unknowingly started a free moving company. Thanks for making these videos! I really enjoyed the first part. You have inspired myself to document my furniture reselling adventures.

I got really motivated by part one today and searched my area. Saw a curb alert, 2 free leather couches. A set. I drove over there at almost 5 p.m., thinking it was too late in the day and it would be wasted time, but they were still there and they were wrapped in plastic so they were protected from the rain. I threw them in my truck and drove away after spreading them out and taking pictures of them from every angle. I parked at a near by gas station to list them on Craigslist, offer up and fb market place. A few people have contacted me about them but then they stopped responding. They have some wear and tear and the love seat has a small rip. I disclose all that and they can see in the pics. I'm offering free delivery, but I hope I'm not over charging. $300 for the set.
