That's a great time for a first 5k. My personal best remains 41m 58 but that's largely because I have reduced lung capacity due to asthma. Anyone reading this who feels down about not being able to run as fast as Pippa, don't be. Run your own "race" and don't worry about what everyone else is doing!

👏👏beautiful comment! My first 5k was 35 minutes. But for someone who never ran before the app, I’d say that’s pretty good!
@joemilewicz68474 жыл бұрын
Fair play to you. I was expecting you to run at least a couple of minutes slower than you did. Most new runners complete 5K in around 34 minutes without stopping first time. It does help having a Olympic silver medal athlete pacing you. I did feel sorry for you the last mile as Heather was speeding up.

It’s honestly really encouraging to see Pippa do this. Even after she’s done all this training, this accomplished 5k runner still gets nervous and struggles and finds herself gasping and holding on during a hard workout just like I do. Well done Pippa. You were good sport, I loved your vlogs (you are a natural on camera) . I feel encouraged to start my first 5k jog (can’t call what I do running). Currently at 1.2km at 11mins. The fact that you could hold a conversation at the same time was mind blowing. I don’t even make eye contact. My tip from what I have done so far is that everything is a lot easier going at a slow pace when you breath in and out through the nose. The hardest bit is having to constantly blow my nose, but it has helped a lot as I feel like breathing through my mouth at any point makes me more tired.

Great training plan, I finished week 8 last weekend and ran my first 5km (Parkrun) today in a time of 27:45. It’s not a flat course but not just hills either and I am really happy to get below 30mins. I ended up taking a few extra weeks, 1-3 was a struggle so repeated them and added some extra sets in the repeated week. I also did week 4 and 7 twice as I missed a day the first time round due to life things getting in the way. I was still doing some cycling and swimming throughout, increasing running fitness was challenging as I’ve never run as an adult. The weekly increase was an enjoyable challenge and now to decide what to do moving forward. Some strength exercises and plank routines for some added core stability has really helped. Thanks again for the well put together plan.

She’s such a hero and an inspiration! But please let me ask you one question and don’t get me wrong: why did you push her so hard? I‘m in week 7 now and the long runs are the ones I’m looking for, but I pace them around 8 - 9 Minutes per km. The hole Program seems to be designed to keep someone running (or jogging) for a certain time. Distance doesn’t matter.. and for me, it builds my confidence that I can jogg even longer. That would be my approach to the 5k... I know now, that I can hold a certain pace for 30, 35 min without exploding and I would continue till I’ve done the 5k, which I never have done in my live! I can cycle 100, 140k without falling from the bike, but running? Now I know, I will thanks to you guys and especially Peppa!

Which I'm also going to use the same method for wk 7~8, alternating b/w the sessions within a week. Not sure if I'm doing it all right, but I WAS pushing myself harder before I've signed up to this. While this program makes a lot of sense and that's what I was missing.
