Really like the video style here, especially using kayaks to explore these fabulous shorelines and reefs.

Thanks, Bill! Our kayaks are certainly our favorite method of transportation!

Hey guys, it could have been an underwater eruption. Especially since you got some crazy behavior from your electronics. Volcanic eruptions sometimes interfere with a few electronic items. Love your stuff. Cheers!

Hey Michael, I agree, some sort of volcanic activity is my guess, especially in that area! I saw a video a few months ago of a sailboat witnessing a volcanic eruption and floating debris all over the surface and it was in the same area we were at!

The sea snake there are very poisonous !! Very very. But 2 facts. 1/ These snakes are very nice. They are not going to bite you even if you play with them. They're "shy" but under water they can swim around you (to play ?). I've experienced that twice while scuba diving. I was a little scared !! 2/ I've always heard that it's really hard for them to bite you because they have small "mouth". But they can bite you between fingers for example. I don't know if it's completely true. I've never tried :o) I don't remember exactly but for the ceremony in Fulaga, you should bring approximately 1/2 kg kava (roots) and 50 dollars in cash for your boat and crews.

johnnybarbar it depends on the village... Fulaga is the only one that has directly asked for money. We prefer to give them the traditional kava and decide what contributions we want to make. We usually voluntarily bring water filters, fishing equipment, clothes, books, nail polish, writing supplies, toys, food etc.

The snake was likely a banded sea krait. As said below, it is extremely venomous. It is an old wives tail that their mouths are too small to bite humans. But they do have very small front fangs. As you saw, they prefer to avoid any humans they come close to. You will be OK as long as you don't pursue and corner them or try to handle them. They strongly prefer to save their venom for things they can eat.

It turns out they're a very common site around this part of the world! We run into them a few more times and fortunately we've kept our distance :)
