The structure of EU does not allow TUrkey joining: some countries like Poland, Portugal, Romania, Croatia are positive on inviting Turkey. But who are ruling the EU exactly? None of them - but the center of EU is belong to France, Germany, Belgium, UK (before Brexit) and Italy, whom most of them are anti-Turk. Without those countries’ approval, Turkey will never be granted to participate.

The division had nothing to do with Turkey in the initial stages. Makarios sided with the British in that the island was to remain independent as the republic of Cyprus but Nikos Sampson wanted Enosis. It had nothing to do with Turkey what so ever other than Turkey opposed any and all attempts for Cyprus becoming a Greek island(enosis). That is why Turkey invaded because Nikos Sampson managed to chase Makarios who was Pro independence out of government taking over and following his promise to join the island with Greece. England and Turkey could not let that happen so they created a proxy of division as if Greeks were killing Turks and justified their intervention but in reality it is nothing more than a political invasion to put a stop to Nikos Sampsons attempt to join Cyprus with Greece as a Greek island. Personally i am for an independent Cyprus and the terms Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot(which is today keeping the island divided) to be removed and the nationality of just plain Cypriot applied without any prefix or racist divisive terminology. Yes you have those who feel Cyprus should be Greek, those who feel Cyprus should be Turkish and those who feel Cyprus should be Cypriot. As i said above i feel Cyprus should be Cypriot and it goes without saying that an independent Cyprus of Cypriots who are a full member of the EU so Turkey needs to go back to Turkey and mind their own business and leave Cypriots to live their life in peace. These foundational doctrines will need to be enshrined in a new Cypriot Constitution that will recognize and protect all Cypriot citizens of both Greek and Turkish descent. The island will then finally be able to stand on its own free will and rapid development of infrastructure and economic expansion should logically follow under these favourable conditions, which will make the country of Cyprus one of the most visited countries in the world.

Turkish Cypriots willingly moved to the occupied area lol. A lot of them stayed in their homes actually, in free Cyprus, still denying to this day the existence of the pseudo-state up north. I have the utmost respect for PBS News Hour and their objective reporting. The reference to turkish cypriot community as "minority" at the 04:05 mark is unfortunate and inaccurate. While one community is bigger than the other in numerical terms, both greek cypriots and turkish cypriot groups are equally dominant on the island. This means that turkish cypriots do not have minority status and I believe this could have been made clear in the video.

If you are refering to the Anan Plan, the Greek Cypriots did the right thing to reject it at the time, because the contents of the plan favoured Turkey than the Republic of Cyprus, Turkish troops would have remained in Cyprus. The majority that voted in favour of the plan were mainland illegal Turkish setlers, who well outnumber the actual Turkish Cypriots in the north. You should do your research before critisising

Half the nations of the EU do not want turkey in. It's not just Cyprus. Austria is also HUGELY anti turkey btw and of coruse there is Greece who will also veto unless turkey cooperates on Cyprus. Turkey will never be an EU member and as of the date of this reply, the U.S. is also on the verge of throwing turkey out of NATO as well and has imposed sanctions on turkey.

Armenian case is another issue but it was the 1st World War time and Armenians collaborated with Russians and killed countless of Turks then they exiled to the Syria from Anatolia then unfortunately most of them died while they were on the roads but 1.6 million is absurd because in that period of time the population of all Armenians are not like this i believe they were around 160 or 200.000. We are not perfect we have flaws but in our Empire that lasted 600years we were not as bad as French or British or Spaniards Empires.

Turkey has no use for EEC my friend, it's the opposite. Turkey is financially and economically strong and can do without the EEC. Erdogan´s wisdom and good leadership have made Turkey so strong that the EEC now is offering Turkey quietly to join after they have been rejecting them because of their Islamic religion and the EEC is made only for the Christians.
