I think that horn shaped object might be an accessory of an anvil
@HistoryUnearthed6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input GF ! Everyone has an opinion as to what it might be. I'm STILL not certain.
@gonefishing54156 жыл бұрын
Yes, thank you for replying, that could be some hardy tool that fits in the anvil’s hole for some kind of bending/moulding in the making of some specific item. But it can be several other things.

You have no idea. I am so let down with this permission as far as coins. I thought I found a real gem but it just hasn't produced. Only one silver and two wheats. Oh well. I've already pulled up a couple of possibilities from USGS. Old school sites. We'll see. Thanks for the view and post.

dammm I think the long cooper thing is a long horn that people used to hear with if they where hard of hearing they would put small part in there ear to hear you better LOL Hey it was all the had back then..... But look at pics of old hearing horn think they are called look at curves, wide part is crushed of course but there might be marker mark look for it? It maybe worth a lot even brushed like that someone might be able to get it bent back right?? I use to metal detect and they say never throw anything out unless your sure it has no value pr collectible, I threw out many a find that I later regretted okkk good luck !!

My first thought was an old hearing assist ... large, generally brass or copper tubes, flared out to catch the sound and narrower to allow the person to hear.

Hey, history unearthed... I'm an amateur metal detector, and the most exiting things I've ever found, was an old horse-pulled tractor tooth, and a "Pepsi Free" lid from long ago. Can you give me some advice on where I could find places that I might find better things around Jacksonville, NC. I'm in Onslow, and am going to go to topsail and/or onslow beach... but I've never found anything but beer cans and pop lids at either beach. I'm just really eager to find something better.
@HistoryUnearthed6 жыл бұрын
Hello Alyssa and thanks for watching! I use a couple of websites to find areas that may have current or former historical buildings or homes on them. I usually look for former farm sites from the 1800's to early 1900's. One site is the USGS website historicalmaps.arcgis.com/usgs/ and the other is Historic Aerials www.historicaerials.com/viewer . My method is fairly simple. I pull up the map of a site that I feel looks promising using either of these two websites. I save the map to my PC / tablet. THEN I find a current satellite photo of that same area using Google Maps and save it to my PC / laptop. Finally I take the satellite photo and superimpose it onto the historical map or aerial. I can now see EXACTLY where this location is modern day and I'm able to tell if it still stands or not and if it's accessible or not. If you give me an email I'd be happy to send a couple of examples for you. It's easier to see it. Let me know. Good luck !!

Everything going ok there?
@HistoryUnearthed7 жыл бұрын
Well it hasn't been but it's getting there. My mother was recently diagnosed with cancer and we've been helping her through. She just had surgery yesterday and it looks positive. The doctor says we appear to have caught it early and were able to remove it before it spread to her other organs and lymph nodes. They removed a couple of lymph nodes for testing but, as of right now, things look good. I should be out swinging the detector next week. Thanks for checking up.
@bige.34747 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. I kind of figured something was wrong. She's in good hands there. They always say that if you have a bad heart go to Pittsburgh, but if you have cancer go to Cleveland. They are the best.
