Well glass is strong under compression... but it's pretty bad under tension.

Basically, it would be fine as a structural pillar, but if you hit it with say, a pick axe, you'd cause damage. Glass can't flex at all. If you put enough force on it that it tries it just shatters. But the thicker something is, the harder it is to flex too, which is why in reality we don't support enormous weights with tiny glass legs like Jake suggested. The moment there was a sideways force, the legs would fail.

I disagree with your assumption that KAMs kool aid is his BLOOD. You can look at it from a marketing perspective, he is after all a fictional character and if they created him and said “HEY, you're drinking his BLOOD” it wouldnt sit right with everyone. OR You can look at the canon explanation in one of the commercials, where you can see him filling himself with water and pwder and using an exercise machine that vibrates to stir it up saying “Im just like you, i put my pants on one leg at a time” (except i think it was a pun, i dont remember verbatim). So I guess its more like his clothes?. OR you could just wonder, why is he breaking into peoples homes anyway? I's been established that KAM can withstand significant fluid loss. It took a complete spill to make hm fall unconscious. Also, I know a couple of people made out of living glass. (Weird, but true.) The glass repairs itself when cracks form, becoming fluid on a microscopic level. Even large chips would fill in within a couple of weeks. As for the foreign objects... I still don't know how it works, but when my glass friend eats, his food just disappears rather than mixing with his contents. I suppose the same thing would happen to bits of brick.
