When I take Omega-3, I start remembering little things from my past, they keep popping up in my thoughts. Once I remembered that when I was learning music in the 60's, I remembered a music I bought and it even triggered the smell of the paper. All kings of thoughts and activities from my past keep coming up when I take Omega-3.

sadly it’s very expensive in the UK. the highest potency I can find is the Seven seas brands and 3caps a day for a month is around £35-40.

You can import it from countries like China, India etc. here it is cheap, $7 for 60 capsule of 1000 mg.

@@praveenka8468 yes the fish oil part isn’t that expensive. it’s the quantity’s of EPA DHA that are. the good quality stuff containing worthwhile amounts around 2g are expensive. A lot of brands claim 1000mg but when you read the ingredients it’s epa 0.25g dha 0.10 and so on…

Be careful. Omega 3 has downsides too. Human body is very complex this type of research is very interesting but doesn't answer all questions. I play it safe, I take one large Omega 3 gel cap every other day. I hedge my bets. Taking one Omega 3 every other day for life is A LOT MORE than what people that don't take the supplement take. And if I ate more fish I could probably do away with the supplement

@@OctavioRichetta I've taken ounces of fish oil in one day through a smoothie (which doesn't taste bad, actually, fructose in limits, has a place) with no adverse effects. If you are low, you are low and you don't want to be low. I likely go through 1.5 to 2 liters of fish oil in a year and find that buying 500ml bottles gives the best bang for the buck, but you can buy 2lt bottles of human grade fish oils for dogs online with the same DHA/EPA ratios per 5g as high end for $ 40 Canadian through Amazon. Not saying that's the best choice for everyone, but that's what I do. I wouldn't waste time taking months to get back to par if there is brain fog, just cut the carbs and guzzle some fish oil and the brain fog is gone. The body will take the excess and convert it to ketones or triglycerides or burn it off, it knows what to do, I would worry more about not enough than too much.

@@OctavioRichetta It is very difficult to 'overdose' on Omega-3 EPA/DHA/ALA. If you are concerned, then take an Omega Index Test. Simple.

Any suggestions on how to find quality fish oil capsules that don’t contain rancid oil (I heard that omega 3s are very unstable and the processing into capsules renders them pretty much useless) or pollutants like toxins and heavy metals? Does any company do regular (not just once) controls of their product and publish the results? It’s frustrating that there is no regulation of the supplement industry in the U.S.

I would look into Performance Lab (a supplement company which is based in the UK, I think, but sells products in the U.S.A.). They sell an Omega 3 product that might interest you. David Tomen, who calls himself "Nootropics Expert", has a website with many articles on it, including some that talk about best ways to get Omega 3's, and he seems to be a big fan of these 2 supplement companies: DoubleWood and Performance Lab. Mr. Tomen has many informative articles at his website, and has a KZbin channel also. He responds to questions and comments from the public, in a way that seems quite generous to me. Personally, I've bought Omega 3 supplements from Performance Lab, and am very happy with them. They are not cheap! (in price). But they are not fish based; their website explains it better than I can do here. BTW, I always let liquid filled pills dissolve in my mouth, and taste the contents (to be sure of the quality), unless they are particularly noxious. That's if I have any doubt about the quality of the ingredients. If it's rancid, spit it out! I suppose a person could also use their nose, also, to test for freshness. Let the pills come to room temperature. Cut open and smell. But for possibly rancidity, I trust my sense of taste more for that. Good luck! I don't know, at this particular moment, if Performance Lab officially (formally) does "Third Party Testing" of their Omega 3 supplement. But I suppose you could always ask them directly, or explore on their website (or other sources online), to find out if their quality control measures are satisfactory for you. To see if any documentation, or lab results, could be provided. Additional Note: About the Omega 3 supplement from Performance Lab, David Tomen recommends taking 6 of those liquid gel caps per day (to get at least 1,000 mgs of DHA per day). 3 at a time, with a meal, is what he recommends. One of the detailed articles at his website is titled "What I Take" , RE: the supplements that he himself personally takes. (And why.) Thus, between looking at his website, and listening to/watching his KZbin videos, you can get an idea of the way he thinks.

Here in the Netherlands it's Arctic Blue. Very very low oxidation number (totox=5). Some different forms available. I have here capsules: 1200 mg fish oil 400 mg EPA 250 mg DHA. A cheaper way is cod liver in own oil, 120 g in total. I have one can per week, after opening immediately 1/3, remaining 2 x 1/3 is frozen in and taken over the week. Don't take huge amounts because you might get too much vitamin A.

would be interesting to know whether simple plasma donation as we get older could reduce proteins like VCAM1. Work by Conboy Lab suggests that components of older plasma may be more important that young plasma impying that a lot can be done simply by reducing these elevated proteins can resent gene expression to younger phenotype. Dialing in the frequency and volume of plasma donation has not been done, but normal blood banks in US will allow for 800 mls every 4 weeks, which allows for turning over at least 3 plasma volumes every year.

That's another form of omega 3, ALA, which is not bad, but doesn't have the benefits that EPA and DHA bring. Your body will try to convert it, but that happens only in small amounts (4-6%).

Finding a good Omega 3 supplement that works is hard. My nutritionist friend @kennethopdahl recommended testing my Omega 3 levels with Zinzino. My levels were super low before taking Zinzino's Balance oil. After 4 months they improved dramatically. I feel much better. I would recommend contacting @kennethopdahl if you're still interested, details on his KZbin account.
