To answer your question about ground effect (Flight instructor here btw): Ground effect is essentially a product of wingtip vortices. As an aircraft produces lift, it will also produce wingtip vortices which we all know can cause wake turbulence. Well when an aircraft is within one wingspan above the runway, these wingtip vortices will create a “bubble” around the aircraft which reduces induced drag and allows an aircraft to produce much more lift at lower AoA. The thing is... even a weakling of a nation like Ukraine has layered air defenses like S75 and S125s distributed widely with manpads at their perimeters to kill low flying objects and S300 is placed after these defenses for S300 to be protected. Coming to India, it has "PAD and AADs" paired with s400s for long range interception, for mid range it has SPYDER, S125 pechora, Akash missile defense, 9k33 osa, 2k33 Kub, Barak 8, QRSAM, 9K35 strela sam, 2K22 tunguska, AA guns like Zsu 23 4 shilka, Zu 23 2, KPV machine gun, Bofors 40 mm, MANPADS like 9k38 igla s, Fim stinger, So overall, low flying isn't a piece of cake for PAF. But on the contrary Pakistan doesn't has that much layered heavy Air defense, so the situation will be pretty different if a rafale or tejas aircraft penetrated pakistani air defense.

well the biggest advantage for PAF is, that IAF and Indian armed forces in general r shit. They would most likely endup shooting their own with these systems then they ever would to the intruding jets. That very Israeli SPYDER ended up blowing up its own helicopter in op. swift retort. Well, that’s how they planned to do it during the Cold War and there’s an excellent channel on KZbin run by a British guy which interviews fighter pilots where an F-111 pilot stated their mission was to fly at very low level and deliver a nuke via the toss bombing technique, the mid-altitude stuff was implemented by the American’s because they knew they could get away with it due to the outdated SAMs used by Iraq and Serbia.

@CAP so they have Long rang ALCMs, land-launched Cruise missiles, the Mirage 3 and 5 ROSE r their deep strike elements with Standoff weapons and ACLMs, these r old but their speed and low-level flight is very effective. i think if a strike package of mirages is sent to do a deep strike the jeff and F16 can act as wild weasels to Lobb HARMS ( f 16 has HARMS too) J 10 r in too low a number to matter. They also have J7s (Chinese MIG) fast interceptors, OLD but good for distraction and cannon fodder.

IIRC they have a HARM the MAR-1 which would be on the Mirages 3/5s and the LD10 on the JF17. The fact that the Ukrainians are still able to operate under s400 coverage shows the limitations of the system. They just need someone to light up their radars and then ripple a few HARMs at them.

Airburst usually has more range than ground burst. And I wouldn't be in such a hurry to laugh off the S-400. Granted it's not shooting down Ukrainian fighters left right and center, but as an area denial weapon, it really doesn't have to. The few times we've seen the UAF flying, they usually fly low. The S-400 might be dictating where and how they fly just by being present. Think about the battleships in World War Two. Granted they didn't fight each other very often but their presence or lack thereof in any given area would dictate how the other guy operated.

"Nuclear blasts went miles and miles" - well, that all depends on the payload... a small (relative) nuke will do only (relatively) small localized blast damage and much more severe radiation damage. Then there's the question of what the specific bomb's designed for: massive area damage, or targeted damage with lots of irradiation in the surrounding areas... and last but not least: Aren't most nuke designs still top secret, so how realistic can any such bomb even get? It's not like there's that much ppl who really know how it behaves to begin with, right?

I did the same but with rockets. It is almost infallible. You must fly always low, 50 ft max and launch rockets at the mast. Countermeasure as much as you can while flying away low.

Can you get the nuke to air burst? I think that would help make it do more damage (if it is well modelled in DCS). Can DCS do the kind of high-power EW that, for example, the Raven EF-111 can? That might be a way to attack a tricky IADS.

I don't think the air burst will help in the way that it does in real life but it will help in DCS. In real life nukes are airburst so that the shockwave reflects off the ground and you get a kind of double shock wave. In DCS though the airburst will help by making all of the targets be in direct line of sight and not blocked by terrain. I'm pretty sure DCS uses a basic ray trace to determine if objects or the terrain is between the explosion and any units in it's blast radius.

Also, I'm wondering if you brought your eye-patch? USAFE German-based F-100s delivering "specials" had an eye-patch. They'd wear the eye patch on one eye during ingress, and then after delivery, switch the patch to the other eye for egress, if they survived that is.

I know the comment is very late- but real nuclear bombs air-burst at a set altitude above the target (depending on bomb yield) to get the large area of destruction and avoid the protection that would be provided by low hills and earthworks (as seen in your game).

cap how would a bunch of LD10s on jeffs fare against the SAM network? Now what we have found out the closest we can go into s400 without getting blown up we can further improve this mission* by introducing HARMs at ig essentially point blank range? - considering LD10s will be travelling very fast in a short distance. using 2 or 4 in each jeff and sending even 3-5 jeffs at once could a. give much higher chances of a more valuable hit. b. at least remove the issue of having to pop up and essentially confirm your death - plus dumb bombs being inaccurate in nature ur just risking both the airframe and the efficacy of the shot.

U.s. & u.k. + some nato intel and general craftiness is what is neutralizing the Russian s-400 in Ukraine. Logistics and intel for the win , again. Either your supply chain and Intel chain is robust, or you lose in a real war. Ww2, Korea, Vietnam, falkins, all turned on these.

Hi cap, i an idea for a mission. Not sure if you have done this in the past. Based on real events. Cuban missile crisis. Part one of mission recon to locate primary targets ( launchers, radars ). Part two of mission strike based on recon findings, plus combat air patrol. Part three support of an invasion and part four targets of oppertunity cargo ships etc. Bonus part the assasination of enemy leader ( freddy cousin, former used car salesman turn rebel leader) hiding in a bunker Keep up the great work 👍

You have a better chance of survival using low drag on bomb acquisition of target ...don't pop up..keep flying low and level out of target area...amateurs...this is the first training butterbars receive during air to ground missions...

400km is a pipe dream. Tracking with low frequency radar is quite different than a target grade lock with x band. When is the shine going to be knocked of the s400?🤣😂🤣

To be quite honest I don't think nukes are written nor scripted correctly in DCS as of yet, so they don't act accordingly as a nukes would normally or as players expect them to in DCS. Even with smaller nukes, you would think that the damage radius could be quite large enough to take out a small SAM sight even if the nuke impacted 5 to 10nm away. I'm no expert on nukes, what they can and can't do. I'm just saying that DCS might have to in the near future work on their "Nuke" to see if it can be rewritten and/or re-scripted, to make it more efficient, accurate and realistic.

PAF doesn't have vintage F-86 anymore. But they have got J-10C, JF-17 and Mirage fighters all capable of Nuclear strike missions. For S-400 Pakistan could use stand off weapons like cruise missiles or radar homing missiles etc. Long range guided MLRS (150+ KM). Maybe even by swarms of drone strike in combination with missile and airstrikes simultaneously. Just by the presence of the threat from long range artillery/rockets India won't be able to deploy it's S400 systems within 200 KM of the battlefield/contested areas without risking it's destruction.

Hello, the S 400 isn't a stand alone system, so they will be operating in tandem with Indian AWACS,jets, other aircrafts and Independent installed radars..... So yo can't just sneek up on it..... In short: No Air defence system is invisible or impenetrable. But something as advanced as the S 400 is gonna be a really difficult system to take out, and also think that it's made to counter the Raptors.... That speaks for itself... So trying to take out S 400s using F 16s and J 10s will be really difficult and Costly....

@@dreamhunter2973 lol raptors! S400 can't even defend Russia from Ukrainian mig 29s. Indian SAMs failed to intercept a single PAF in Feb 2019 during operation swift retort. But instead Indian SAM shotdown its own military helicopter. These ranges, detection and tracking capabilities are highly degraded under heavy EW jamming. And Russia and India till now failed to demonstrate S400's claimed capabilities in real world.
