Could this Really be the Perfect Cotswold Village | English Countryside

So, today we are out and about walking in the Cotswold hamlet of Caudle Green in Gloucestershire, England. Caudle Green is seven miles south of the Spa town of Cheltenham and five miles east of the historic town of Painswick. Cheltenham is the post town for Caudle Green.
Caudle Green feels like a place that is un-spoilt, timeless and very charming, with its beautiful Cotswold stone cottages and clear roads, which incidentally leads me onto just why this video has the title 'Could this really be the perfect Cotswold Village', so the first thing to bear in mind is when this walk was filmed, which was on a weekend morning, which also means the vast majority of residents would have been at home but there was not one vehicle parked anywhere along the village road, all the cars were parked off-road, which for me was absolute bliss as it meant I did have to spend hours & hours blurring out vehicle registration plates but also the picture postcard look of the village & green was kept intact. You may well also be able to suggest other reasons why this lovely hamlet deserves such an auspicious title...why not share them with us :)

Thanks for this. About five minutes in, I loved the mist rising up in the distance. The ending was great with a single file of sheep in almost comical concentration. Again, not a single dog barked. A nice reminder of peaceful countryside John, Ontario, Canada

Beautiful. I always love the moments where we find ourselves walking along wooded pathways. Most people, in talking of the Cotswolds, mention the beauty of the cottages and buildings but what makes this a wonderful area for me is that we are always within a few minutes from a spot lined with trees. Where we emerge to find lambs has a nice symmetry with the beginning with the horse. I don't know if you can plan for a thing like this but it really does make the video. The car thing is an issue... I love cars. They get us from one place to another with pleasing rapidity but they always make an idyllic setting look a little less idyllic. The walking paths are a great boon in this regard. I have found a few paths one can walk along and forget that cars even exist. Unfortunately, after about half an hour, I start thinking about the return trip and how much I fancy a drink. Thanks for this video.

Morning, Jago. You always have such a wonderful way with words! I do try to look for public footpaths / bridle ways when scouting a village walk as I tend to think they are a nice way to either start or finish a walk or even both if I really strike lucky! The horse and the sheep was planned, but when I first checked, the sheep were congregating almost by the gate. This is the thing with cars, they are an essential part of daily life but like you say they don’t do much for the idyllic look. Oh, btw, I have cancelled the preorder on the GoPro, as after watching reviews I was not too impressed with it’s low light capability. I bought another camera instead on Friday, which I tried out yesterday on an early morning walk (literally at dawn break). I was very happy with the result, it has got just the right amount of bounce, previously you could be forgiven for thinking I was after drone like smoothness in the footage but I think too much smoothness would be unnatural. I may well post yesterday’s walk on Saturday ; Thanks for walking with me. OAAW

@@OutandaboutWalking Yes. I would say that the gopro has been wonderful for me. I was using my phone (a bog-standard Motorola) until last December so, for me, it was a great improvement. But if there is one quality I miss it is that it really isn't much good for night shooting and that is quite limiting (especially as the days grow shorter).

Even the birds are quiet. Shhhhh. I muted all sounds to type this comment. Oh yes, do walk on the grass so as not to crunch the gravel. I could not live in Caudle: me brain is set for this lands white, pink, blue, brown, green ambience or should I say orchestra, violin crickets, frog burps, mosquito whine, cattle shuffling, distant highway grumbling, occasional crop duster trombone'ing. Why tonight is high school football, the stadium though small and a mile away will reverb the PA announcer, student band accents, crowd cheers, not to mention, if locals win, the exiting of vehicles with celebratory honking. And all (emphasis ALL) noise at night echoes, ever hear a lonely train pass? (Yep, we have rails ½ mile away) it's blasts are so welcome especially when each toot continues when finished ished ished ished. Woah! You should've oiled that wrangly gate, Sir🕶️, shhhh, for even the sheep filing to the next pasture are tiptoeing. Well... you requested feedback back back back ....
