For economies at war the factors of production gets shifted to military support which will have large economic loss. Additionally since very little is produced to sell abroad this dry up liquidity. When countries are at that stage they will print money to finance the war an inject money in the economy. The results will normally be high levels of inflation as the currency crashes and if there's capital flight, the country will fall into an inflationary recession. @@michaeldavison9808 it has started to happened in Russia. If they don't tomorrow you will read this sentence: "Remember when the West did not enough to support Ukraine and the country fell to Putin and was whether divided or conquered? Now we have ten similar conflicts around the world (because of all the countries who have or acquired a nuclear arsenal and took advantage over the weaker ones)." This is a very strange war where one country is free to ravage another while the agresor suffers almost no damage on its territory due to nuclear deterrence. If Europe and the West want to erase such precedent not only for Europe but for the rest of the world, it should take a firmer approach. The longer the war drags on, the harder it would be for Ukraine to sustain. European countries are facing increasing headwinds as energy costs increase as they head into the winter. Countries would have to increase interest rates to combat inflation. Factories would have to reduce output to conserve energy. Following that, they paid the price, not once but twice during the great wars to become the superpower they are today. Bitch if you want but that's the reality. The British and European powers have the same history. Look back at the fall of Rome and the price they paid. The English were ravished by the Vikings, the French by the English, Muslims and Germans tribes, and the Germans fought for the right to exist during the Romans. Even the modern Israelis fought for the right to exist. Compared that to the history of Africa and all those countries you cited. They don't deserve the right to exist because they didn't pay the blood price. You may say that it's not worth it but your children will curse you for not paying. Or maybe the current cool-aid is to blame the victors. Ukraine is once again paying the blood price but whether it's worth it, history has always proven to be correct, for future generations to come. Why our support and destruction of our economy doesn't make sense unless you believe that is all to do with the US mission to destroy Russia and maintain its unipol world leader position. 17th February Ukrainian army began to shell heavily the two breakaway republics of the Donbas region, Donesk and Lagansk peoples republic, killing hundreds of innocent people. After a long televised security council meeting in Moscow, Putin on behalf of Russia recognised the independence of these republics. Russia then immediately entered into defence agreements with these two republics which it recognised. Those agreements were to help provide defence for those two republics. Because the Ukrainians continued their shelling, killing innocent civilians, the Russians then launched the special military operations to protect these regions on 18th February. Russia made clear that it had no intention of invasion just protection of these regions and why it hasn't pushed further west. It's feint to attack Kiev was to concentrate Ukrainian forces around the city while it easily took over the Donbass with little resistance. The Western press ignored this and made Russia out to be an invading force. This is the legal sequence. Russia honours its legal position by having to allow the militia of these regions to do most of the fighting, Russia providing supporting roles and why Ukraine will sometimes cry victory until the Russian forces step in to stamp on them after the militia have failed. For the real story watch and learn and make your own minds up as to why we got involved and ruined our economies by making our biggest energy supplier and partner, Russia, out to be the bad guys instead of insisting on diplomacy months if not years before Ukraine escalated the conflict to bloody civil war against the predominantly ethnic Russian Donbass. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2m6i5qfrNxkiLc

@MrZenGuitarist2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's true that Zelensky was a comedian before he was subsequently elected - but still, he's actually been working as president now for some time and also are surrounded by a lot of seasoned politicians. (Perhaps an even greater surprise though is that he actually performed the very role of president in an evidently popular TV-show. Or at least I thought so). I further assume that he under these current, tragic circumstances must been working pretty much 24/7 - both since he simply has no other choice, but also because he needs to in order to protect himself, his family and of course his fellow country-men [and women to, of course]). Also, it seems as if he's been successful in the arena of politics, at least domestically as he's become pretty much a rallying-point and a pillar of support for his countrymen. Although I admit I'm not well versed in politics. But I still believe that managing both an economy that was quite crippled even before the invasion - as well as the utter devastation of businesses, infrastructure, people's homes as well as lives would have been a tough task indeed to take on for any politician... Further I'm not entirely certain that the war would NOT have happened anyway, even though they would not have aspired to join NATO. (And Putin himself has said himself that joining EU isn't really 'an issue' - although admittedly, since when can you take Putin at his word?). Although it was in all probability at least 'one of the dominoes' - so to speak. Rather I suspect that the real 'deal-breaker' when it comes to Putin's invasion, at least if you can trust the sources from which I've learned, was most likely a combination of several, much less obvious factors (at least to an 'outsider'). One of the major, if not THE major reason was as to hinder Ukraine from (starting) extracting any of their hitherto untapped natural resources (gas, oil as well as several 'important' minerals), since that would have posed a serious threat to Russia's economy, as well as its influence over Ukraine in more way than one; *Since that would really have put Ukraine in the position of being de facto and completely independent from Russia (both 'energy-wise' as well as economically and therefore also politically). *Ukraine would then, in all probability have become THE 'go-to-nation' for the entire EU's import of "gas & oil" - and thus would have struck a very real and 'threatening' blow to Russia's entire economy (since Russia's economy is entirely based on the export of literally the very same natural resources that Ukraine has). *Which would also as a result mean that Russia would then have had a wholly independent as well as 'West'-oriented neighbor that would potentially, or perhaps even probably be(come) economically richer than Russia (and hence more powerful economically and perhaps also politically and militarily). (I, at the very least, find these arguments particularly probable, especially since most of Ukraine's untapped natural resources lies almost entirely in the Eastern border with Russia, as well as in the Black Sea-coast; that is exactly where Putin seem to have put most of the efforts in 'securing'!). Then, of course we also have Putin's own 'arguments', which he postulated himself: *That there is an ongoing 'genocide of ethnic Russians' (peculiarly enough at the very same areas? and also - NO support for that claim what-so-ever, except for a 'ban' in schools to teach in anything but Ukrainian! [which nation does NOT teach in their own native tongue?]). *That the Ukrainian state is 'run' by neo-nazis (despite that it's clear for anyone to look into that merely around 2% of all Ukrainian's voted for an 'extreme-right'-Party - and has NO seats in the government, and never has!? Not to mention the fact that Zelensky himself is of Jewish ancestry..?). And, last but certainly not least (ridiculous, to not say outrageous); *That Ukraine REALLY isn't a "real nation", but rather a "Soviet invention" as a mere administrative region!? (sure - it was forcibly turned into that when Soviet power was as its peak, and there once was a state called 'Kievan-Rus' - but, at that time that [proto-]state was neither Russian or Ukrainian! And also - Kiev was a metropolis looooong before Moscow was even as much as a mere village....and - either way, since when is history to judge? [if so - from which time-period should we all then base our claims? Like - should we all reconcile to 'give back' all the now sovereign Nations to the British Empire? Or - should Russia itself be 'given' to the Swedes, since it was Vikings who founded Russia...and so on and so on...] Although I completely agree with that he both could and should learn from the Czech republic - just as we should all learn from each-other, really all the time IMHO!: Since no state has gotten 'everything' "right", but there is usually at least some state 'out there' that has successfully tackled issues where others have failed. Well, this doesn't in any way mean that the NATO-question wasn't the drop that 'spilled sh*t over'...but either way - I believe that the reasons I mentioned above were at least just AS important, in any case. But again, that's based of off all the sources I've been able to find - and have read. And also - is merely my humble opinion.

This is what is frustrating about letting this drag out. Putin is unhappy, I'm sure, that he wasn't instantly successful, but reducing Ukraine to ashes would be an acceptable fallback. If the people want to fight for their country, military equipment is provided by allies, and enough money to pay for food and energy, they will overcome. A large portion of GDP is associated with tycoons and bankers, who are the least priority in such a conflict, they will need to take a haircut. Wars have occurred too often in history, with people bouncing back, but without economists & bankers lamenting calculations. The global community owes Ukraine, the west should cut nearly all aid to other countries and focus on Ukraine. Agriculture can be ramped up again easily, for the nation, with other natural resources to utilize down the road.

The west will not let Ukraine fall. It is in our best interests to stop ruSSian aggression for many reasons. With the relatively high level of education in the Ukrainian population it would make total sense to move all the western firms that formerly operated in ruSSia to Ukraine. Once the east is secured the massive natural gas deposits will be too tempting for western investors. The currently unfortunate exchange rate will be attractive to western companies that have formerly operated in ruSSia to reopen in Ukraine. I dont think the strategic situation in Taiwan is anything like Ukraine Ukraine has no geographic barrier so it's like a flat plain all the way to Kiyv, but once you are in you basically have no geographic feature yourself yo hold on and then u get attacked on all side for Taiwan, u need to launch an amphibious laning across a strait that's 3 times as wide as the English channel. lets say u manage to cross the strait u will run into log jam on landing sites that makes the commute on the M20 looks like a smooth ride. after that u fight against a guerella war on mountainous terrian there's a reason why the allied force bypass the then Japanese Taiwan altogether in WWII

Essentially I see no financial issues here. Consider WW2 where allies not only militarily and financially helped during the war - they also reinvested into West Europe, with a big advantage: it opened up a market faster. So too the USA and Europe will invest in the rebuilding of Ukraine, funding rebuilding efforts that have the possibility of setting Ukraine up for a swifter EU entry.
