I'm more interested in the idea of quantum computers than I am in light sabers. Because, well, face facts: unless you've got the precognitive reflexes of a Jedi with the Force guiding his superhuman movements, a light saber would be pretty useless in a gun fight. That would be like trying to hit a baseball... if the baseball were a tenth of its normal size and traveling at supersonic speeds... with a bat only half its normal girth. Light sabers are cool, but pretty useless unless you're a real Jedi.

yeah, but say yr walking to yr car, and some junkie/tweaker walks up asking for whatever as a pretense to take yr stuff. I'm sorry, but popping a light saber blade out would give anyone second thoughts, just from a pop cultural cache standpoint. also, with a flick of the wrist, that junkie/tweaker is now a cauterized paraplegic, while you drive off to (maybe ;-) )call 911 anonymously. That person's probably gonna rethink whats up w/their life choices. I know I would! as a person having been regularly threatened by addicts with syringes full of blood, I'd love a 'saber in those situations! then again, that's usual for Portland, Oregon.

I hear you man I'm interested in quantum computers to as well as growing crystals out of pure light! imagine how powerful a laser from that kind of crystal would be,it would be more efficient than cutting metal with plasma

lol I wish intelligent people wouldn't take the light in lightsaber so literally. The problem is that they don't pay attention to the lore close enough, if they did they'd realize that a lightsaber's blade is plasma contained in an electromagnetic field generated in the emitter that is superconducted into the hilt where the returning energy is dissipated. When two lightsabers clash it's the result of the magnetic poles hitting and attracting which can in turn cause a saber lock like we see in the movies where the users are fighting to get the poles to where they'll repel so they can break away before their opponent can use the attraction to their advantage and slide the blade to where they can slice a hand or two off a la Anakin and Dooku or even cut through the hilt.

well the light sabers arn't light their plasma held in place by a magnetic field so if we find a way to make a a magnetic field in the shape of a sword we can have light saberd.....oh and we would need awsome battery's to power the sword

the technique you are telling about is possible we will have nanotechnology batteries in next 20 years that can power a saber and will take the space of just a AA battery! but the thing is that saber will not stop when striked into each other's beams they will easily penetrate each other, as plasma is heated cloud of gas, if how so ever this thing worked we will be unable to stop the beam at a certain height and this will look like burning uncontrollable gas running out of a stick and this can even injure the person using it to fight someone xD it's better to use swords either, they dont burn but else they are better

+Snake4199 Why do you think you can explain how it works even though it doesnt exist and cannot be built?
@the_christopher
@the_christopher 9 жыл бұрын
+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber Let me start off with this, the fact of whether it can or cannot be built in our world is /irrelevant/. There are several ways I can say how it was built and how it works despite it not existing, there's plenty of source material covering that. Remember that the star wars universe has completely different laws of nature, the force is a prime example. To say that noone can know how something works simply because it isnt built irl is completely besides the point of my statement. Its like saying that every writer of fiction has no right to define how stuff works in their universe because, oh hey IT DOESN'T EXIST. I never attested to its feasibility in real life to be built, I only stated that it is not a beam of light, it is superheated contained plasma in the lore of Star Wars. Now I brought this up because what's being explored in the video is a beam of light as a sword, not a lightsaber. I'd love to see experts cover the feasibility of contained super heated plasma in a blade-like shape. Plasma can be contained, look at a star, (our sun even), and it's living proof. Now can it be contained in as small a field as a lightsaber's is the real question. (or will the heat eminating from the super heated plasma harm us YARDS away.) I don't expect flashy and clashy effects to happen when hit against other objects, and there are definitely better ways to put superheated plasma to use practically, (Welding or thermal drilling mayhaps).

BiteMyShinyMetal4ss I don't know mate, it's not like I'm a musician and will be featured on a national tv show in Q1 2016. Live performances count as going outside? Touring count as going outside? I didn't attack you, but it's funny that all you have to retort in a losing argument is "wow, because he knows a lot about something he must not go out much, or maybe it's because he plays video games". Have fun with your 'adult' cartoons and your attempts to be more english and westernized despite being foreign as shit. :D

+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss Nevermind, I just realized how sad you are. Scrolled up to watch the video again and see if I missed something, but I realized how a lot of the newer comments are you replying to similar comments in such a harsh tone simply because they say something from a different point of view. You say it with such a condescending tone as if you are somehow better, but you're not, you're in fact worse and on the level of trash. You don't go outside and play much, do you? Why do I ask? Because I see you're busy playing Hitler on youtube comments you twat.

Arkham Creed Originally, they were the super police monks of the galaxy. But then George Lucas got a bunch of money to make a prequel trilogy and he realized that with all the money he could locate a very very very small amount of it to story and script, and hence we get Jedi who aren't allowed to get married (it simply causes too much emotional impairment, I guess military and real police shouldn't be allowed to marry either) in order for Anakin to have a variety of reasons to go against the Jedi. So technically, Jedi could sleep around as much as they want, they just can't get married and form relationships outside of the order's "grandparent-parent-child" like structure.

You do know the blade of a lightsaber is not actually made out of light? a lightsaber is essentially a plasma blade with the switch. Heres an explanation: if lightsabers were made of light then the length would be limitless. A specialised crystal structure can be designed to wall and control the flow of atoms. A lightsaber made of light does not clash. All you need is a good handle designed plasma generator with magnets to keep the plasma in check, oh and don't forget about that battery to power the magnets and generate plasma. Oh and plasma is also the fourth form of matter btw. please try to use your brain and act like someone who has a great capacity to understand.

Okay, but you wont get back. Time is not relative to space, and therefore cannot be traveled. Space is traveled. Besides; all the cool gadgets you can make here; you only need to learn how to build them.

BLOOD DRAGON I wrote the book on time... literally, in 2002, just never published it. It's in the library of congress and predicted Egor Babaev's model for superconductivity and much much more since then. Time is a product of mass vs energy, powered by electron neutrinos being hydraulically superior to all others; and it does not matter if you move a craft or not devoid of thermal mesons in more superconductive space positively ionized. The ionosphere you create ungrounded to hide from time can be made sitting still. What so many don't know of , which is just as interesting, is the time lens discovered and used by TimeWarner and other conglomerates to look over a day ahead into likely futures and use this to manipulate stocks, get rich, even kill to satisfy their own ends in the name of peace. You may think it science fiction, but the scary truth is that various such lenses exist around earth. One was discovered , made by Osiris most likely in the Hall of Records in Romania's Bucegi mountains. To picture how this works in simple terms; our brain is a circuit made of holographic capacitors. So is the universe, as stars are their own capacitors. Waves over 300 times the speed of light are understood by our minds if our mind is set into a field which can view/ polarize the effects of the stars which both consume and reflect data from everyone's brain, even birds, gnats, etc... all part of a great system one might even call the Matrix! There is one problem however; those who use the lenses may experience shifts in energy within themselves by taking actions they would not have usually after viewing future time. What this energy is they still do not know, but I know. Recently, and this may be even harder to swallow so please don't mock me for this, but I met a girl who had been using the lens like a Ginny pig. She was shocked to see me and feared to even open her mouth. It was easy to see how she'd been caught in a paranormal paradox to which there is no beginning or end. Whatever part of her saw that moment in time, I had to keep her from by changing it and did so without telling her. If I had done what she saw, well, then we'd both be caught. Well it's been fun. This message will self destruct in....321

mikefromspace what you don't know is that my statmwnt is based off of Steven Hawkings Idea that in order to time travel you would have to reach the speed of light to move forward in time but you would only be able to go forward not backwards, meaning you would need some type of craft that can move around the planet at the speed of light to time travel
@mikefromspace
@mikefromspace 9 жыл бұрын
BLOOD DRAGON Okay. Hawking was proven wrong once and will be evermore without drastic changes. He predicted what? Bogoliubov transformations lie, just like the name, which are part of his prediction because they cannot adequately describe the vacuum of space which is proven to contain energy just as do atoms and just as much if they were to take a closer look. Electron photography of a vacuum as early as 1955 proves this. Where Hawking's theory drops off a cliff, I used projective geometry to fill in the gap, finally providing a method to explain how photons or superstring tension may be replaced using a fully progressive kinetic process that would explain how , instead of your ship moving faster than light, is held within a field which puts bosons to mach angles of interaction without travel since the atoms making the magnetic seal are themselves traveling through energy imploding to the nonlinear center of a zero point device.

lightsabers are actually plasma contained in a magnetic force field. within the hilt of a lightsaber, is a cylinder thing called a diatium power cell. btw, if you are wondering what plasma is, it's basically a gas that's been heated or had an electric spark added on to it. the diatium power cell contains large amount of trumponium gas, which turns into plasma when the circuitry attached to the power cell gives it a spark. the plasma then travels from the hilt and through the crystals which helps it focus more, giving it the ability to burn through almost anything.

If we pulsed the laser at the speed of light needed to go 3 feet, so that the light would turn off after it reached the desired length, and repeated that process continuously, so that our eyes would perceive a full blade, would it be possible?

PCProphecy Yep yep, valid point, because of lucid dreaming im able to have dreams like the one i had lastnight where i was just wreking up the town, driving Way to fast and hitting into things and purposefully hitting a revert to last quicksave button when things got a little to crazy :p haha i love my dreams, that was a strange one, but strangely the most normal one, like i wasnt in a giant swamp made of mushrooms or with full freedom of movement (flying around and jazz) this time :p I think having a brainwave, vr experience with Full cerebral immersion would be just Ballin though!!

Rafal Kalinowski It would also lead to the fear of a Matrix like lifestyle. Think of False Awakenings, when your dream wants to kick you out of your Lucid State. What if you find out that you believe you're going into this VR place, but the reality is that you're already plugged into one.

If you could align mirrors to reflect laser light exactly it should be no problem. Just put a laser emitter on the handl and put a titanium and carbon boride rod with a mirror on the tip about 3 feet long so the laser will reflect back then put a mirror on the handle at a slight angle so the returned laser will bounce into infinity without hitting anything and it should work. You could also just mount a laser on a handle of some type, fix up something on the handle to emit a mist or fog so you can see where the light is at all times and you have a light saber. Of corse the laser beam would be shooting out also.

Actually game theory explained lightsabers are possible! if you can trap plasma in a magnetic field you can control a been hot enough to go through anything. If the mechanism used to control the plasma was formed into a metallic cylinder shape (like a lightsaber) you could actually hold it without damaging your arm. It could go through ANYTHING!!. As well as this if two of these blades of plasma came into contact with each other they would collide and not go through each other. Best part is this technology is already being used in medicine.

I have a concept of it. you just concentrate the photons using magnetic fields and so by doing that that you can compress the particles of light and they sort of act like the large hadron collider because the particles bump each other and are compressed. so that is just my idea of it

***** I can't see a difficulty in enjoying life without death. Which is frustrating, because it's a common argument. life without death is life with less fear. I have experienced enough fear to last me an eternity, thank you. Even then, life without death is not without some concern for the condition in which you live that life. I don't really see what you could possibly lose from having immortality except the experience of death itself.

Well it could still be possible to make a lightsaber if you consider that the blade may not actually be made of pure light but Plasma. Plasma has electromagnetic properties so we could potentially control the size, shape, length, etc. and it can clash against another Plasma's magnetic field.

It sounds like instead of a light saber, we're just getting closer to understanding "Hard Light" theory. The idea that light can actually be a solid construct. Just because the light itself has now partially become interactive rather than passive doesn't mean it's a light saber, and in fact, since you mentioned that we are slowing down the atom and cooling it, We're actually just making something more solid, rather than a high energy beam that can cut like a solid. The most we could say is we're getting closer to making a Laser Girder.

2:02 thats not true, the photon is still going the speed of light, it just bounces off all the atoms at the speed of light so that it looks like its being slowed down but it is actually just taking a longer path through the atoms.

Well, let's consider a few things: 1) it's dumb to think a lightsaber has to be hot (it'd incinerate its wielder if even 1000dgF) 2) it would have to use something less damaging in close proximity than heat 3) EHF sound (especially if in a constructive harmonic interference pattern) can cause molecules to instantly be in a superheated state 4) scientists have discovered a very nice way to use low power sound to create Thz sound and beyond So, even though such an object might not be composed of "light" it might still function as a lightsaber. Time will tell.
