It just occurred to me that you may have been the person I met on my first day in Istanbul on September 1st, 2016. I have been binge watching your channel for the last 3 weeks as I prepare to transition my tethered Nomad life (Software Consultant) to an untethered Nomad life (Sailing CircumNavigator) and Just now I recall meeting this wonderful woman who had been in Istanbul for a few months and she asked me Jokingly, "Where do you think I should go next". We had a chat about NYC and Mexico and then she ( you; I think) Gave me a Big Hug and Vanished through the door!!! Here's the thing I was just typing and listening to your voice without looking at you and All of a sudden I had a flashback of Sep1, 2016. It was your voice. You planted the seed then, and it has cultivated in me ever since. I was on my way to Saint Jean Pied de Port to Start the Camino de Santiago. Since then I have been across the US several times and Back and forth to London ( Love love Love London !!), been to Shannon, Cork, Madrid, Glasgow, Bristol, Birmingham, Mexico City ( Hoping I would bump into ya lol), & Puetra Villarta. The whole time working as a remote Software developer. I have been tethered to a house in Atlanta which was a bit of a Boat Anchor ( Lots of overhead $$$). I am now free of the Boat Anchor and have purchased a 42' SailBoat in California. The point being, I really think it was you that I met in Istanbul, but if not you have a Doppelganger and she led me to you lol. Pauper to Princess Probably headed first, either to Thailand or Belize. I haven't really decided. But likely somewhere relatively cheap to start with. I'm a bit obsessive about living simply yet fully, and challenging myself to find the best, cheapest ways to do the things I want. I travel quite slowly and tend to base myself in centralized places from where I can travel around the area, to save money, time and hassle. The plan is to hit most of the world over the next 10-20 years, so I'm not in a big hurry. I enjoy the journey, personal development, education and relationships that come with it... and the food! Less of a destination list, I have more of an experience list of things I want to do, like learning to blue water sail, make ocean crossings, learn to prepare many different local cuisines, find like minded friends, immerse myself in obscure cultures, get lost often, and try to stay out of my comfort zone as much as possible, to name a few. I don't really have any requests or suggestions for topics. Just do your thing. Own it. Ignore any haters. Have fun, and I will check in from time to time. Cheers! 😉

Pauper to Princess I want my kids to have stable education. In six years time the last one will have finished their GCSC's. I'd be happier seeking education for them abroad if I know they have that foundation. I've done everything thing backwards. I'll only be 40 then so will not be too late, just in a different order to the norm.

I've been a freelancer since 2013, since I was still in high school. I've always loved it. And I never really had big ties with family or friends here - not that I didn't like them, but I was independent enough to think about leaving them behind at 18 and move somewhere new. I didn't know where at the time, but quickly fell in love with London. I then tried applying for Uni there, but when I got accepted there I had started dating who is my current boyfriend. So I deferred a year. That year passed, I had everything booked and paid for, even flights for him to visit, and I couldn't do it. It was heartbreaking having to give up on my dream, but now I have a new dream that I don't know if it's big enough to outweigh the old one. But I want to start a life with him. And he very much wants that life to be here. And I'm unsure of what to do. I struggle with depression and he's my rock, so I don't want to leave him and go alone, because I'm scared of what might happen. But I'm still not used to depend on someone so badly, I don't know when it's too much. I'm not sure where I'm getting with this comment, but I'm also not sure where we're getting with our lives. I'd like to maybe try a summer abroad, since we're both students here and that's when we'd be more available, and then we'd see where life takes us. But I also want to be a mom at a young age, so I'm unsure how that would work, but I guess I'll let life happen.

Hi there. Thank you so much for your lovely message. I guess I'm biased but in my (now) fiance and I have done long distance a lot. Before we got engaged we dated for 12 years and we always put ourselves first and grabbed opportunities - we both lived abroad at separate times, and went to different universities. I think if you're passionate enough about something you should do it so that you can live with no regrets. I was always worried that if we broke up and I'd put my dreams on hold for him then I'd regret it and feel like I'd "missed out" on so much. It worked out for us and now we travel full time together and are getting married, but of course it's different for everyone. Maybe you could start small with some mini adventures closer to home (a couple of weeks or something) and see how it goes? Good luck!!

I know long distance is a possibility, but I don't know if it's worth it - if the bad outweighs the good sort of thing. But I believe that if it's meant to be, it will be :)

I love the idea of a digital nomad life, but I don't know if I want that for me, just the nomad part. I mean, I want to be totally able to earn an income working from home and be able to travel whenever I want, but I don't really want to live in other countries, because I want to be fixed in a place with my husband so we can start our family. But I definitely want the "freedom" of a digital nomad life. Maybe a digital Entrepreneur/freelancer life would be a better name for what I want.

+Andrea Brito yes that sounds perfect! I think we will feel the same when we have a family. It definitely changes your perspective. I think being location independent can give you lots of options - if you want to move closer to elderly parents or a better school for your kid then you have totally flexibility. I agree you may not want to move everyone to Thailand! What do you do for work?

So at the moment I'm not really doing freelancing or client work. BUT I've been interviewing a bunch of other nomad girls who do so theirs will be up over the next few weeks :) Elance/Upwork and Fiverr are common options (although the prices are very low) and of course recommendations are the best!

Haha, I've been lurking on this channel for ages now! I can work from anywhere, only issues are school visits and networking with UK publishers, agents, bloggers etc, which isn't essential. I have been planning a digital nomad style trip for some time now actually, starting in Chiang Mai haha. Also been quite tempted by trying Remote Year but it feels expensive, especially with the weak pound.
