It would be helpful if the theorist were included. Studying for the NCE and CPCE requires it. However, the overall information is helpful for gaining a deeper understanding of these theories.

How long have. You. Been using 12 step recovery for counseling and do you have any of your own thoughts? Do these options just make someone a conformist?

Perhaps I like a person-centered style, so felt that some of this lecture sounded unempathetic to a client. Mostly, when addressing irrational thoughts. If a client cannot find motivation to get up, an attitude of "well, I'd love to sit on the couch all day too, but I have to get up and be responsible" would be harmful to many. It sounds like an out of touch parent being judgmental. That may be due to my style preference leaning toward person-centered and thinking that if a client is accepted as is, some amount of healing can begin with just that acceptance and empathy. I'm curious about when a more challenging, unempathetic attitude might help a client? Maybe it's like "tough love" and helps a certain population? I won't practice that style, but know that many styles help produce positive change in clients.

This is not a treatment strategies video. It is a theories video (2012 designed) to help counselors understand the underlying concepts of CBT-REBT and other theories. For interventions, I have videos like this one on treatment strategies. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHTHpGCeqMSlb6M You are also presuming that one starts with an active-directive CBT approach without developing rapport, empathy or understanding of the client's current presenting issues, vulnerabilities and motivations all of which are essential to develop a CBT treatment plan
