Countdown to Christmas Part 2 ║ Mills Family Christmas │ Large Family Vlog

Today we're finishing up our Christmas preparations as well as having some Christmas celebrations. We have our friends over for pizza and a 3D Christmas Carol plus an afternoon sledding at Papa Gary's followed by another pizza party! We spend Christmas Eve preparing food for Christmas Day and end the evening by driving around town looking at Christmas lights and delivering Christmas jelly to some friends and neighbors.

So much love and joy for her family!, Andrea had a way of making each one of the children feel so special and loved. To hear her laughter just makes my heart hurt. I just watched the Thanksgiving day video Nov. 26, 2020 and Tom was using plastic food for the kids to serve a Thanksgiving feast and they were all having so much fun with it!! Tom is doing a great job in the midst of grief, making fun memories with the children. Prayers for continued grace and comfort as you lean hard on Christ during times of sadness. I loved the activities she thought of for them to do. Like the grocery store contest. I've seen them from time to time in my area but never thought to have my kids participate but its a creative FREE activity. There was another video where she had them do a craft from a home and garden magazine and it just seems like she was always thinking of her kids and what fun stuff she could do with them or make for them. She had the best heart.

I'm loving these Christmas videos. I especially love how you make every day in December special & how you serve others. Do you include Father Christmas/Santa at Christmas? A couple of things I'm curious about - I've noticed that most of you wear short-sleeved shirts in winter & never wear a jumper/sweater. Don't you get cold? Also, why didn't you wear red on Christmas day? It seems more Christmassy than black etc. I've subscribed to you & am getting notifications for new ones so that I don't miss any:)

I had such a busy day yesterday I never left the house to pick up the mail. It's library day today so I'll get the package you sent while I'm out. I also still have your message open in FB. It's very cold here, but the temperature swings wildly sometimes. We had 40 below 0 one night and a couple of days later it was 42 (an 82 degree difference!) We wear the same kinds of clothes year round and just add extra layers if needed. We've noticed that when we don't bundle up too much we adapt more to the cold and it bothers us much less.

That makes total sense! Thank you for explaining to me! In NC we rarely make it to single digits! What do you heat the house with? Maybe I should try this to adapt better. It would help! Hope your dear family had an awesome Christmas!

We heat with a natural gas furnace. Our house tends to get very warm without the furnace running because we have so many bodies in here. I encourage the kids to go outside without bundling up too much, especially for short outings (like taking out the trash or something.) Of course, I don't want them to feel uncomfortable so they wear what they feel they need to. I wore flip flops all winter and found my feet warmed up much faster after getting wet and cold than they did when I had on boots and socks. (That was just for a quick trip to the Post Office or something. If we go out to play or for a walk I wear my boots.)

I am not sure how to properly word this..... but, are there any times where Thomas wishes he would get things that are for his age? I just remember that from his birthday video, he had gotten some kid toys from his siblings. I bet he is thankful that they thought of him though.....

I think he's very mature and realizes, as we all do as adults, that little kids give things from the heart but it's not always something we'd choose for ourselves. I'm thankful that Thomas, like my other kids, appreciate the effort and thought and don't care too much about what they get.

How come you had Tom's homemade pizza one night but then the next night ordered take out/delivery pizza? Looks like you all did lots of fun activities throughout the week!

My dad was providing the take out pizza for the party at his house. It became a family tradition when I still lived at home. We tried to get him to at least let one of my sisters pick some up from Little Caesar's this year rather than our local truck stop pizza because it's about 1/3 of the price, but he didn't want to change. We actually did make the pizza for the party one year, but we can only bake 2 at a time and trying to get 5-6 pizzas ready and hot at the same time adds a bit of stress to the day!
