The Season Begins ║ Mills Family Christmas Vlog │ 2018

In this video - the beginning of the Christmas season - we do a little "shopping" at Grandma Fern's house and bring home a few Christmas items. Tom also do some serious Christmas shopping, but most of that will be coming up in a separate shopping vlog. One of the things we pick up is a Christmas wreath for Grandma Fern to hang on her door. (She's been delighted that so many of you have found her address in our video descriptions and have been sending her Christmas cards.) Tom watched a few cartoon Christmas Specials with the kids and I spent time with the kids making plans for everything we'd like to do this Christmas season. We haven't put up our trees yet, but we did go to Grandma Kitty's house and help her put up her tree. The kids also made ornaments at the library and helped decorate the library tree a little. I've been busy, busy (overwhelmed busy, even) sewing and crafting and cleaning and planning and video editing and all the rest. I decided to make the three little girls backpacks for Christmas. Part of the way through, I wondered what I was thinking! But when they were all done, I was SO delighted with how they came out. I'm so happy with them. I also made a Nintendo Switch dock cover for Justus, a green screen for Judah, princess skirts and capes for Sophia & Claudia, a vest for Solomon, bow ties for Solomon & Justus, a sketch book for Solomon and blank recipe books for Eden and Thomas. (I also made Asher a driving lesson book for his birthday.) The kids drew names for their $1 dollar gift exchange. Thomas also had a work gift exchange at the Diehl's Supermarket Christmas party. Tom and Thomas made Magic Cookie Bars to take to the party. (I enjoyed watching two INTJs cook together.) Even though we haven't put up much in way of decorations yet, we did get the Christmas blankets down for the kids and they enjoyed snuggling in with them while I read a book about St. Nicholas to them on St. Nicholas Day.

I have to say, Tom is an amazing man to go shopping with his wife AND never question what or why she is buying something. He never once asked her, “why do you need this” and never told her to put anything back. That is incredible. Andrea was such a wonderful person by making sure each child received something special and she put so much love into it. I am sure she will be put in charge of something pretty spectacular in heaven.

Yes, I thought the same thing. I’m lucky (fortunate, thanks to God) enough to have a wonderful husband that would react in the same way. I appreciate him as I’m sure Andrea loved and cared for her husband/family. I still have to say that she was such an amazing mother and a wonderful woman, and yes, those homemade gifts were amazing -and be always treasured, I’m sure. You’re right, she’ll be in charge of something amazing in heaven. Beautiful soul.

Maria Frank, yes I don’t think Andrea would like to consider herself above others, anyone worth the name of “parent” will put their children first, but she was such an exceptional woman. These Christmas 2018 videos were sad to watch and yet it was so comforting to hear Andrea's laughter. Her children will always have these videos to watch! She brought such joy to Christmas with all her traditions for her family. I love when she said she was so proud of the backpacks she made for the little girls. They were beautiful. She put so much thought in their gifts! I just miss her so much and yet we never met! Heaven has the angel Andrea that we were lucky to know on earth! God Bless her family this holiday season! ❤

This is the second video when I watched Solomon hug you twice for making him a Christmas vest and each time it honestly put tears in my eyes,, the joy he felt was so pure. I noticed even when they were going to put the Christmas tree up at his grandmothers how super excited he was,, he is such a sweet boy with a caring heart,, all your kids are don't get me wrong, but he just has been shining through with pure happiness in these latest videos!

Andrea, I am so sorry that l didn't know about you until after you had to leave us! I've watched so many of your videos, the 1st one of Tom asking for prayer for you. The 2nd. one was of your funeral, with little Hannah crawling around on the grass. Tho l didn't know you, my heart broke for you and your family. You were probably the most precious person l've ever 'met' !!! Your children are so respectful! They're each so special in their own way. That is a reflection of you and Tom. While watching Thomas pour on the sweetened condensed milk I was reminded of my granddaughter helping me fix sweet potatoes on recently. After putting the cooked sweet potatoes in a casserole dish I told her to add dots of butter. She cut the butter into the size of PEAS and five minutes later was still at it. I put my head in my hands and said, Grace you're killing me here. Andrea I was feeling your pain. Loved the video.

Just sad, when this was going on, we were empty nesters and in a another state of the one we live in, visiting our daughter and we had a beautiful Xmas there in TX, and I am so happy Andrea had a wonderful xmas at her house. We never know when we are leaving the planet so just live each day as it is your last day on earth.

Also how she always visited Grandma Fern. It was just as important to her to go and see her as it was for Grandma Fern to have her there. Sweet Andrea, I don't know if you have any idea how much sharing your family means to so many of us...especially at Christmas time. Cooking special treats, crafting gifts (and by they way, those back packs were your magnum opus! I'm so impressed and proud of you!
