Son Doong cave in Vietnam is so big that it takes 4 days to trek through. Along the way there is so much to do and see and this is one of the most beautiful places on the planet in my opinion

I did this same expedition a few months ago. We must have done it a few days apart. We even had to sit on that same beach for hours waiting for the water to go down. This is hands down the most incredible trip anyone can do. It's genuinely life changing. If anyone has the opportunity to do this, do it. It will be tough, but you won't regret a second of it.

How experienced does someone need to be to hike something like this
@tylerlastname32365 ай бұрын
@viperonfire2006 I don't think you need to be very experienced. But you do need to be fairly comfortable with things like heights. There are a lot of times where you are walking along sheer ledges you can barely see the bottom of with your headlamp. I'm not in good physical shape, but I didn't have any problem physically completing the trip. The toughest part for me was the mental challenge of having wet feet constantly. If you hike occasionally and have done rock climbing a few times, you should be fine. Oxalis is incredibly helpful if you have any questions. They answer emails quickly and have tons of information about every aspect of the trip on their website.

Is there any vertical climbing that’s challenging? Saw a bit towards the end of the video with 5 hours left
@vikas-qu5vg4 ай бұрын
How much do you spend on this cave trip?
@tylerlastname32364 ай бұрын
@timmehtizzle That part is the Great Wall of Vietnam. There is some near-vertical climbing at the end, but it isn't particularly difficult. I only have some basic/casual rock climbing experience and it was easy. Especially with how much the safety team helps you. It definitely takes a bit of upper body strength, but anyone who is in average physical shape should be able to do it. There is a bit of near-vertical climbing down into the cave as well, but that is even easier.

For the price, I see why they made this expedition a very memorable one. Without those porters, a lot would not get done. Shout out to the porters. And thank you for posting your experience, awesome video.

Exactly. I'm incredibly impressed at how much they do for the visitors. If you enjoy hiking for a few days, this trip treats you like a king. No freeze dried food, AAA service, and just a good time with the card games and how much everyone looks out for eachother.

When you go to Vietnam, you usually eat better than you do in most countries, but be wary of Vietnamese coffee served with condensed milk. It tastes so good you're 100% guaranteed to put on 6-7kg after a month lol.

I used to get annoyed that all these people with exponentially more money than I have do these trips and "show off" to the rest of us struggling folk but I don't perceive it that way anymore. The views expressed in this video were genuine and Jordan's smile and mood are infectious. The editing that took place for this video ran through the back of my head as I watched all of it and I must commend you on the wonderful final production. Thank you for going on this trip and thank you for sharing such a sight with the rest of us, something we will likely never see in person. What a priceless experience, thank you!

Just got back from the trip in February. Fortunately didn't have the waiting issues you had, and even avoided the mud trek to the Wall because the water level was so high (rafted instead). What an experience. Agree with everything you said: staff was AWESOME, food was great and it was truly a trip of a lifetime. For us mere mortals though, this was a HARD TRIP. Hiking on slippery sharp rocks everyday wears you out. Thanks for you post.

Vietnamese food when prepared and cooked authentically by a skilled cook, usually tastes better than most restaurants. I know because my mum has been feeding me great food for decades. My gf used to call me fussy when we dined out, until she met mum and understood what real quality food tastes like. Now she pesters me to take her to the parents' home all the time. I'm screwed!

Wow. I think you're the first vlogger to film your caving experience in Son Doong. AMAZING all around. This is #1 on my bucket list even though I’m too old and not in shape to do it (loved spelunking when I was younger). I think you need to title the video better for the views as I wasn’t even aware this video existed until today. Maybe put the name words “Phong Nha Vietnam Caving” in your title as well.

you are not paying only for the expense, You are paying for the locals to sustain the cave, keep it the way it is, paying for other research and study about the ecosystem in the cave (Son Dong is so isolate that it has its own ecosystem unlike anywhere in the world) , paying for all the supporters, volunteers, people who truly love the nature beauty to step up and against those capitalist corporation - whom are still trying to build a cable cap, or put the cave in full open, selling ticket into the cave just to destroy it (it happens just a few years ago). Yes, it's expensive, but to keep it the way it is, it's also a lot of effort that can not be priced.
@TheDarkhorizons80Күн бұрын

Wow dude the optics of the cave are so crazy on camera. My brain is 404'ing @13:16 seeing how small those people are across the water from where you are. On camera it looks like you are beside a puddle just a few feet from the entrance then you realize the scale of it all when you see the tiny humans in the distance.
