Yes, and we live longer than ever before because of more medicine, science and nutrition. Let's also focus on fighting obesity. May life expectancies in the world converge from now on.

Are all the ages converted to the Western system? There are countries in SEA such as Japan, China, both Koreas, Vietnam and Taiwan that use a different birth system. They are all born at one years-old and some, if not all, have their birthday on the Lunar New Year. This could mean that a one month old child under the Western system could be two years old under their system.
@ymhktravel27 күн бұрын
They don't count it that way anymore long long ago, at least not on their national ID. Even S Korea that still persists in that age counting system has about a year or so ago aligned with international age std.

The data presented here represents CURRENT AVERAGE life expectancy for both men and women by nation. It does not indicate ongoing trends within nations, or what international as well as nation health agencies define as "healthy life expectancy" (HLE). Average life expectancies in the UK and here in the US are now declining. The US is one of the few nations where the majority of overweight people are obese rather than merely overweight. The few others are mostly Polynesian nations. Japan, Singapore, and now China (!) have moved ahead of the US and UK in average healthy lifespan for citizens born from the 2000s (Japan), and from 2015 (China and Singapore). If you find this hard to believe, take a look at any recent video here showing a random view of citizens of these nations. When I was a child, the vast numbers of morbidly obese people that are becoming the US norm were a socially ostracized rarity, and they still are throughout East and SE Asia today. Japan and Singapore have two of the world's best and most affordable universal health care systems, and China is getting there, too.
