Sikkim was absolute monarchy till 1973 ruled by chogyal.People of sikkim were highly literate to cast vote for referendum.They wanted to join republic so they voted for India.This referendum was conducted in 1975,you have wrong information of "annextion of sikkim".Also if you are US citizen then chech history properly because during 1971-1980 US was propoganda against India as communist due to friendly relations with Soviet union even though India is founding member of non-align movement.Check History properly..

The independence of Tibet should probably be explained a little bit more. As far as I understand, the Qing Empire conquered the Himalayan plateau and viewed it as part of the empire, though it was a semi-autonomous region only indirectly controlled by Chinese (or Manchu) administrators. When the Qing collapsed, the Tibetans took back independence, but both the Republic of China, and later the People's Republic of China argued that its secession had been unlawful and therefore saw it still as a part of China. This is the justification that the PROC uses today. Whether it's a good justification or not is of course debatable.

Qing has a royal-marriage relationship with Mongolia and Tibet. Most other people think of these area under Qing, but in their eyes Qing is just a "confederation" thing. Therefore, whatever Qing signs or looses will only be recognized IF Qing is still a "family". Such a marriage thing no longer exist after ROC get in power. In fact, by the end of Qing, both Tibet and Mongolia barely give a shit of what Beijing says. ROC, however, did get Qing to sign and pass on everything the dynasty owns/owes. Some may argue ROC hold the right to Mongolia and Tibet, but they forget the royal-marriage thing. The marriage is a symbol that Tibet and Mongolia are a part of Qing (Manchu) royal family, not their subjects. If ROC take Qing's role, then you ROC better treat Mongolian/Tibetan as equal, not as your subject. PRC, on the other hand, never get ROC to hand over anything. So they are not in the position to talk succession of Qing properties at all.

Okinawa does not have a strong secessionist movement. They occasionally threaten to claim independence in disputes with the government in Tokyo in much the same way as Texas. What they really want is more autonomy, less military bases, and more national investment in infrastructure as their economy is struggling compared to the rest of Japan. They joined Japan a long time before WWII and the Ryukyu islands only united briefly before that. Okinawa is as much a part of Japan as Hawaii is a part of the USA, they actually have very similar histories. While most of the former independent states in Japan and their people are highly integrated and now consider themselves Japanese, the Ainu people who lived on Hokkaido and the Kuril Islands have a distinct culture and claim independence, although a lot of their former territories are disputed with Russia. The Ainu are an indigenous people similar to the Inuit people in America with very little international recognition.

I read in a Japanese article that the government also considers to have a traditional Ainu dance and musical performance to open or close the 2020 Summer Olympics or Paralympics in Tôykô. Unfortunately, there are still people who oppose this idea because of their different ethnicity and most descendants of Ainu people don't even know about their heritage because of hundreds of hears of oppression and forced assimilation, similar to what happened to Australian Aborigines.

You missed Sabah and Sarawak in Borneo. Sabah(North Borneo) and Sarawak are independent countries. Both countries supposed to be equal partners with Malaya in Malaysia but their status got downgred after Singapore left The Federation of Malaysia. Until today, we still fighting for our rights.

Balochistan apparently got independence on 11 August 1947, do 4 days before pakistan was created which would mean they were 4 days old in terms of independence when pakistan came into existence. Nagalim (I'm not sure of this name) is shown here with a flag known to be of Nagaland. The darkened region in the map isn't part of that territory but included the territory that seeks independence. Also you in the end pointed another part which is in the north of West Bengal. The woman in the Sikkim part of the video looks like a hijab wearing woman which looks very odd.

You forgot to put North Borneo (now as know as Sabah one of Federated States in Malaysia). We are same status as Singapore, the British gave us Self-Government status on 31 August 1963. North Borneo merged with Singapore (who quit from Malaysia in 1965), Kingdom of Sarawak and The Federated States of Malaya to form Malaysia. But now a days there are voices from leaders and people from North Borneo want our state to quit from Malaysia and form our nation because the federal government of Malaysia has broke the Malaysia Agreement contract. Most of North Borneon claimed: we have being occupied by the Federation of Malaya who is the head leader country in Malaysia. In 1963, British promised us to give independent but they moved their colonial office to Kuala Lumpur which is the capital city of Federation of Malaysia.

Sikkim came under the suzerainty of India, which controlled its external affairs, defence, diplomacy and communications.[39] In other respects, Sikkim retained administrative autonomy.[citation needed] A state council was established in 1953 to allow for constitutional government under the Chogyal. Despite pressures from an India "bent on annexation", Chogyal Palden Thondup Namgyal was able to preserve autonomy and shape a "model Asian state" where the literacy rate and per capita income were twice as high as neighbouring Nepal, Bhutan and India.[40][unreliable source?] Meanwhile, the Sikkim National Congress demanded fresh elections and greater representation for Nepalis in Sikkim. People marched on the palace against the monarchy.[40] In 1973, anti-royalist riots took place in front of the Chogyal's palace. In 1975, the Prime Minister of Sikkim appealed to the Indian Parliament for Sikkim to become a state of India. In April of that year, the Indian Army took over the city of Gangtok and disarmed the Chogyal's palace guards. Thereafter, a referendum was held in which 97.5 per cent of voters supported abolishing the monarchy, effectively approving union with India. India is said to have stationed 20,000-40,000 troops in a country of only 200,000 during the referendum.[41] On 16 May 1975, Sikkim became the 22nd state of the Indian Union, and the monarchy was abolished.[42] To enable the incorporation of the new state, the Indian Parliament amended the Indian Constitution. First, the 35th Amendment laid down a set of conditions that made Sikkim an "Associate State", a special designation not used by any other state.
