Take a string, tie a washer on it. Put a slit in a tennis ball, insert washer. Tie string to tree branch. Great for shooting with a 22, you know when you hit it, it will spin. You don't have to re-set it or walk up on it to check. Plus they are cheap and can take a lot of hits.

CONGRATULATIONS Houston on the 22 rifle. And hunting for rocks brings back lots of memories. My dad has an Irrigation lake near Beaver Dam Creek. We used to think it was cool finding beaver cuttings and sign...until they would burrow into the lake dam like a muskrat. On several occasions they have caused the dam to leak which is expensive to repair.

Save your .22 shell casings as they can be reloaded. I kid you not. Cast your own boolits out of lead an make your primers out of white tipped matches. Someone makes a kit for this. If you shoot a lot you should get into reloading. It's not hard an not expensive if you don't go over board. God Bless you an your family for this New Year !

Houston I’m your pops age and I just have to say that I am so jealous of your Christmas Gift..that 22 Riffle is awesome and I love the clip and boy does that thing shoot well. I’m going to go out and try to find me one like it. Good luck on them Squirrels and always remember safety first. Keep your safety on at all times and always point your barrel to the ground til your ready to shoot..take care buddy and have your dad get you a box of CB caps..they are fun to shoot and hardly any noise. And what’s also pretty fun is Walmart sells caps for plastic pop bottles that allow you to pump air into the bottle with a tire pump and when you shoot the bottle it explodes and you can find the bottle caps and reuse them..

I got to go hunting with my neighbor once, and he gave me a few shells to use. Houston, when you’re out collecting rocks do remember to bring a little squirt bottle of water. This will help you to see the “true color” and shine of the rocks. 👍 Daniel, please 🙏 get Houston a rock tumbler. It’s so very exciting to see all the colors and patterns in each rock. Oh, and also a rock tumbler is a great lesson in patience, you will find out why when Houston gets one. 😁😂 God Bless!

I was 7 years old when my uncle, a retired Army field first sergeant, took my brother and I shooting. My brother, being older than me, got to go first. He aimed, and aimed, and aimed, and aimed, and missed the little stick we were shooting at. Then it was my turn. I aimed, squeezed the trigger, and hit the stick. When we were through my uncle pulled out a Thompson submachine gun with a 100 round drum magazine. After firing about 30 rounds when he turned around he had the biggest smile on his face I ever saw him with. Shortly after that I got my first .22 rifle, and have had one ever since. For about the past 40 years I've had an old J.C. Higgins (made by Marlin, sold by Sears) long barrel .22 bolt action. It has a broken part that guides the bullet into the chamber, so I just single shot it. The front sight is a little brass bead, and it's extremely accurate. I wouldn't trade it for fancy new semi-auto. I like it just how it is.
