He was blinded in childhood from eye cancer and sadly passed of from it in March of 2008. I got to see him at least six or seven times, twice with SRV..... needless to say those two shows were the greatest I'll ever see. I was at Alpine Valley ( it's literally 5 miles from my home) for SRV's last two shows and Jeff joined in.... I have awesome pics ;) Great reaction as usual, brother

I saw Jeff in Germany 🇩🇪 in 1987. There were 8 of us, Army tank commanders, Cavalry scouts etc. We were all stationed nearby Nuremberg. We were privileged to be able to attend many, many concerts all through the 1980s. Jeff was playing in a large club that happened to have a small concert hall attached to one side of the building. It had 3 levels of balconies and plenty of standing room after all the seats had been filled. Jeff was sitting to the left hand part of the stage. We were standing about 10 ft. away from Jeff, close enough that he could hear us loud and clear, especially after a song ended! You see, German concert goers aren't a 10th as loud and rambunctious!! When Jeff was introducing his band mates after a couple songs, he thenked the crowd directly in front then turned in his chair to face us, he pointed and said, "You guys down there are Americans!! I instantly knew you guys were probably G.I.s because yuore the loudest section of this crowd! Thank you for your Service and thank you for coming to the show." Once I came out of shock from being spoken to by one of my guitar heroes...lol...we all turned it up notch! Shoot, even the rest of the crowd started to make more noise! It was an amazing experience to witness this man play his guitar. I tried to play like Jeff once I got home. Complete failure lol

Had the pleasure to see Healey numerous times in Toronto bars before the likes of SVR and Clapton discovered him. When Jeff really got rockin’ he’d stand up and play. No strap, just pinned the guitar to his body with his hands while jumping up and down…. Always burnt the fuckin joint down. Still sadly missed.

Jeff Healey is a Canadian treasure. 🇨🇦 He lost his sight to cancer when he was one. His father gave him a guitar when he was three and because of his age he couldn't reach the strings so he played it in his lap. Later on when he was older he tried playing it the normal way but he preferred having it in his lap. Unfortunately Jeff passed from cancer when he was in his early 40's. Other Songs As the years go passing by Angel Eyes Look at little sister with Stevie Ray Vaughan. Cheers

I remember seeing him play at the Town Pump (long since disappeared) in Vancouver in the late 80's. It's the best concert I ever went to. I was on the balcony with a good friend drinking Okanagan stout (good beer at the time) watching this phenomenon perform. At that time the only guitarist who I though comparable was Jimmy Hendrix. That was from an episode of Night Music, which did not last nearly long enough. Jeff was a guest artist, performing with house band (and absolute TOP session musicians) Marcus Miller on bass and Omar Hakim on drums, with Dr. John sitting in on keys. The Jeff Healey Band was on a roll that year. At least the amount of airplay in Toronto would suggest that. Still you can't assume everyone on the the planet knows your favourite bands at any given time. His bassman, Joe Rockman, dropped off his car stereo deck for service where I worked. I wasn't in when he came by, so I got the particulars I needed by word of mouth. A quick bench check confirmed it was 'dead' so I put it aside for later. All I wrote on the form was "Can't see the light" and his phone number. Only the one guy in the shop that knew Joe and took care of things in my absence got the reference. The other guys were much younger and The Jeff Healey Band wasn't on their radar.

Sadly Jeff passed away a number of years ago he was indeed a great performer had the luxury of seeing him live a number of times. Only lately are his skills being appreciated you should also watch as the years go by live in Stuttgard

The story is that when he got his first guitar they tried to teach him traditional style of playing. He said that it didn't feel right, so he put it in his lap.
