Robin Trower is a very underrated guitarist! This man should be ranked with the likes of Clapton, Page, Hendrix and so on. Another underrated guitarist you should check out is Tommy Bolin. Listen to songs like Teaser, Post Toastee and Homeward Strut. Simply Mind-Blowing!

The studio release Bridge Of Sighs which this song is on, is one of the best rock albums of all time! Every song on it is great it it's own right. One of the best winter albums you'll ever hear. Don't deprive your self of listening to it from start to finish with an open mind. You'll be a fan for life, of that album.

When Robin Trower was the guitarist for Procol Harum his not frequent enough solos were scorching. That was 1967-1972. He was a Hendrix contemporary. He still releases great albums and tours and he’s 78. Definitely one greatest electric guitarists ever.

👍👍I'll be at Robin's show in London next week, May 28th. Barely a day has gone by when I don't play SOMETHING from his mighty catalogue, but I wouldn't classify him - I've been a fan since his Procol days - as a master musician who excels on the guitar, hardly ANYONE can emulate the TONE AND FEEL of his playing

@@goldstein85282 Me and the wife have seen Trower twice in the last 3 or 4 years in Austin Texas. Yeah he is still touring! One thing people may not understand about Robin is that when he is playing a lead live the crowd is almost completely silent and frozen in time. Its honestly out of this world! Robin Trower is one of the very few artists I've ever seen that sounds just like what he does in the studio!

This is Robin trower at his best at the guitarist. The song is from the album { bridge of signs } and the location Winter Park Florida, my brothers and mine's favorite album of Robin trowers which he has many albums, I was much too young to go tour Rock and roll concert but my sisters were responsible for me so they would take me to rock and roll concerts in secret and hope that my father didn't find out because I wasn't even a teenager, but my older sister's secretly took me here and didn't tell my father and then later on in life my father lived in Winter Park Florida which is a very beautiful place, I don't know why they call it a winter park because there is not winter there, I never knew of it snowing there when I think of winter I think of snow, not a winter like in the midwest where you can get a couple feet of snow àñd even go below zero degrees. so Florida naming a village Winter Park I thought was very strange. Beautiful location. Try to find video of this concert 4K and you're going to hear the song much clearer, how really wonderful this song is, cuz I think this is one of the band's best songs , {[day of the eagle } and { too rolling Stoned } as their next best song. 2 Rollin stoned always seem like a song to me where James Dewar singing about he's really too stoned to deal with people so he's just going to sit that one out. The guitar playing on the singing of James Dewar is excellent in both of these songs and these are the kind of songs you definitely want to put the headphones on. James Dewar I think had a very special voice it was very deep and it was very Alto and once you heard it you never forgot it but a lot of people thought that he was of black African descent because of his soulful voice but he was Scottish. But you can be any race and have a soulful voice, that's soulful voice comes from their soul that tells me that James Dewar was very in touch with his soul and some people are and they make really good singers, there's songs are unforgettable. Definitely one of my favorite songs but I don't mean to be critical but this sound on this video is horrible . Pléase go on KZbin and listen to other versions in HD and 4K, they have much better the sound, the sound is NOT good on this vídeo it F+, The video is NOT doing this song any Justice at all . the guitar is much too loud and you can't hear James Dewar singing and you want to hear him singing he has a very soulful baritone voice. Try listening to this song in 4k on headphones and you just are going to be amazed how good it sounds how clear the guitar is how you can hear every single note and how clear James Dewar's voices that you can make out every single word that he is singing where in these recordings that aren't that good it's hard to know what James Dewar is singing it's hard to decipher the words if the quality of the sound is not good. I don't know why Robin Trowler the guitar player name the band Robin trowler because he left James Dewar out and James Dewar singing really made the song without James Dewar singing I don't think many people would have bought the albums , his voice was very important in the songs that were created. Robin trower was part of the British invasion. You know The Moody blues 💙 Emerson lake and Palmer, led Zeppelin, add many more rock and roll bands that originated in usually London or Liverpool England but came to the USA and they were a smashing success even more successful than they were in London. So I always felt bad for James Dewar that he wasn't mentioned in naming the band, he was ignored that you know the bands called Robin Trowler but the band is not just Robin Trowler by his self. Robin could have named the band Robin Trowler and James Dewar and the other people but he didn't , he just named the band after him which seems quite egocentric that James Dewar's voice made the song so much better , I don't think people would have liked the song as much without James Dewar voice. One thing's for sure this was a match made in heaven and they made beautiful music together 😍😍

Trower started out as the guitarist for Procol Harum, of “Whiter Shade Of Pale” fame. He left to form a classic power trio. His vocalist was the magnificent Jimmy Dewar, who also played bass. Trower was heavily influenced by Hendrix. In fact, Inrecommend you check out the Trower track, “Daydream”. It was written as a tribute to Hendrix. Other tracks to listen to would be the crushingly beautiful “Bluebird”, “Bridge Of Sighs”, “I Can’t Wait Much Longer”. There are many more I could recommend. If you check these out you will want to go through Trower’s back catalogue.

He had some Hendrix influence but made his own sound. Robin is still putting out good new music today and he even sings on some of his recent albums. A new power trio you need to hear at The Warning. Three young sisters from Monterey Mexico. They are amazingly talented musicians, singers and song writers. Thought the lead guitarist is the lead singer, the drummer does sing lead, while on drums on several songs.

Check out: "I Will Always Be Your Shelter". Trower writes more bluesy, atmospheric stuff now, so sublime, the words all rhyme, the mood of the music fits the lyrics, and each song has meaning. They don't make songwriters like that anymore!

Thank you for this reaction to Robin Trower. He is for sure a "hidden" ´guitarist. Most surely inspired by Hendrix. Why don't you try one of Trower's slower songs? I've got one here, live in 2005, called "Daydream" originally from his first studioalbum released in 1973. This is one of my favorites songs of his and the performance here is stellar, I think, especially the guitar playing :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqDWZpZqfLasfqM

First rock concert. July 1976, Pontiac Silverdome N. of Detroit. Derringer opens, followed by Trower, with headliner Tull. Great show. Joints going up and down the row. Smoky as hell. Pretty heady stuff for a 15-year old. P.S., I have been playing the guitar since '74 or '75. I was playing Day of the Eagle earlier tonight. No kidding.

Heard " Bridge of Sighs " when it came out . I was absoltely blown away on the first revolution ... by both Trower and Dewar . And even much more so together. . Dewar is one if the most underated vocalists of all time . Takes a bass player to truly apprecuate the talent. ( good observation) . Trower has said he's never sounded as good evrr again without Dewar at his side after James passed away. I realize its a very unpopular opinion but Id even put their chemistry ahead of Plant and Page . FYI People unfamiliar with Trower may have heard him play with one of the bands he was in as a young guy turning 22 in 1967,. Procol Harum ( Whiter Shade of Pale, Conquistador ) They pretty well had to tie one of his hands behind his back fir the ithrd players to hang in, and to keep it simple and more hooky and accessible. . Thx for this

Travis thanks for this.Sorry for suggesting from this concert but there were at one time better quality videos of this concert on youtube. For a better quality live video maybe try him in '05 playing Daydream or Bridge Of Sighs from his 60th birthday at the Rockpalast.Robin was still touring until the last couple of tears due to covid. His bass player in the '70's had a good voice but isn't with us anymore.I'm Out To Get You is also a cool tune,as is A Tale Untold, but he has a lot of great songs. He never got due credit for his ability not really sure why but some called him a Jimi imitator but each is different. His studio stuff is also great to listen to.Thanks again.

You should find a better recording, or studio versions. Part of what makes Trower special is his incredible tone, and back in the day, the way Jimmy Dewar's voice fit in with his tone and mood. They were made for each other. Trower's still great now, putting out albums, and touring at least in pre-Covid days. I saw him live 5-6 years ago and he was just great. He was very popular in early to mid 70's, playing arena size places.

I am sure by now someone has enlightened you on Robin Trower and his popularity through the ages. Robin was as far away from anything commercial anyone could ever get. He did not seek all the limelight as they say. He just did Robin Trower stuff. Those that did stumble on to his work in those days are obviously lucky to have come across someone like him. I will mention another artist you may not have heard of that was just as talented. His name is Frank Marino. Frank Marino and Mahagony Rush!
