In 1976 I was in 7th grade. My music teacher played us "Bridge of Sighs" and I still thank him out loud, every time I listen to that song. He was a great teacher. RIP Mr. C.

Yes, same guy who sang on "Bridge of Sighs". Silky bass-baritone voice that is unmistakable.

This is the opening track on the Bridge of Sighs album and it goes right into the title track Bridge of Sighs. The opening track on side two is Too Rolling Stoned which should be your next track.

Yes, the singer is James Dewar, same fellow that sings on Bridge of Sighs. IMO, one of the greatest rock & roll vocalists that most people have never heard of.

I've listened to Robin since 1974,this is the fastest tempo of this song I have heard.James Dewar is the same bass and vocalist, and Bill Lordan on drums, who replaced Reg Isidor in late'74.James was in the band from the start till 1983.You would like Daydream,Sailing,Bluebird and Caledonia ,as well as dozens more.

In the 70’s bands would bump up the tempo of many songs to give the audience a touch more excitement than the album. Remember, no KZbin to desensitize the audience so live was your chance to surprise people and to show your ability to play difficult parts even faster than the album. Robin was a stickler for detail in every aspect so this tempo was definitely set by him and done this way across the entire tour. Other years/tours he has experimented with playing songs slower than original and sometimes to a fault but ever-changing. Robin has never been a drug user and he ran the band strictly. The part you thought was a potential slip up was a little accent that Bill dropped in for effect. They did it every night.

James Dewar, from Scotland, had such an epic soulful voice (RIP). Same vocals on Bridge of Sighs. This live version is a bit faster than the studio version. I like the studio version speed better.

Great reaction Corey! The studio version is a little slower. "Too Rolling Stoned" needs to be your next song by Robin!! This video had the same singer/bass player but it had a different drummer.

I think drummer Bill Lordan (who replaced Reg Isadore, from the last video you watched) was making that face 'cause James Dewar (bassist, vocalist) mixed up the lyrics. It happens -- and you just have to keep going.

If you like Robins guitar playing then you must listen to Benny Dancer, but don't keep stopping it and making comments as banal as you did here, musicians do write and play different songs, well they did back in the day. All rap sounds the same but rock in the 70's was very diverse and you have an awful lot of fantastic music to explore. Tell us what you think when the song has ended, replay your favourite bits but stopping it ten times before it gets half finished is so ..................................😴

I don't know why you watch live performances before hearing the studio versions. I have listened to the studio version hundreds of times and this performance sounds muddled and sloppy and the vocals are unintelligible. Does not do the song justice and I hate that someone's first impression of this song is this version. I hope you do too rolling stoned sometime. but I hope you don't find a version of it as poor as this.

Maybe since it was the '80s is why the song was sped up? There was quite a lot of stimulants going around at that time 🙂
