Farm House Wash Cloth
1. Start with a slip knot and chain 30 chains.
2. Place your hook into the back bump of the second chain from the hook and put a single crochet into each stitch all the way down. You will have a total of thirty single crochets. Chain three, and turn the piece.
3. Row two: The three your just chained is going to count as the first double crochet. In the next stitch place a double crochet. Skip the next stitch and place a double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat this all the way to the end. Place a double crochet in both of the last two stitches. Chain one, and turn the piece.
4. On row three, half double crochet into the first stitch. Chain one and skip the next stitch. In the next stitch add a long double crochet working over the chain 1 space and into the chain 1 stitch on the row below. Chain 1. Skip the next stitch and into the next stitch place a long double crochet working over the chain one space and into the chain 1 stitch on the row below. Repeat this pattern all the way to the end. In the final stitch place a half double crochet. Chain one and turn.
5. In row four, half double crochet into the first stitch, place a long double crochet over the next chain one space and into the chain 1 stitch on the row below. Chain one and skip the next stitch. On the next stitch place a long double crochet over the next chain one space and into the chain one stitch on the row below. Chain one and skip the next stitch. Repeat this pattern to the end of the row.
6. For the next 16 rows repeat the third and fourth rows. On row 22 we have to fill in the spaces to finish the square look. Place a half double crochet into the first stitch. Place a long double crochet into the next stitch. Place a half double crochet in the next stitch. Place a long double crochet into the next stitch. Repeat this pattern all the way across.
7. Edging:
Fasten off and weave in your ends. Join the yarn together with a slip stitch in the top right hand corner. Single crochet into each stitch across the top for 30 stitches and work in 3 stitches in the corner stitch at the end.
8. On the next side work in 29 stitches evenly where ever they place well. There must be 29 stitches. On the corner at the end place three single stitches into the corner stitch.
9. Add the single stitch edging on the opposite two sides in exactly the same way. At the final stitch join the two sides of the final corner with a slip stitch, and end the piece. Cut the final thread four inches from the end stitch and sew the tail into the wash cloth.
