@@RachelForrester-v1q, there have been Patsy Cline, Anita Carter, and Patty Loveless, maybe Emmylou Harris, or Paulette Carlson and Alison Krauss. The rest are back there somewhere. Now you may add your addled sniveling list. But you must be prepared to defend your selections, and not by merely repeating what some writer already hashed and was paid to say.

I absolutely cried before they even started singing. Patty Loveless was my favorite singer when I was growing up. This song went through my entire marriage, through my divorce and now, unfortunately. my ex-husband has recently passed away. I always loved him. I still do. We were young and stupid but we knew love and this song was ours and forever will be. Be careful you youngsters. 40 years feels like 6 months. Love your life and live it with no regrets.

YES ! While that has always been the stated intension of country music, Now we must insist that our embrace must actually be of real messages from the people who sacrificed and died for this country ..... because our grandchildren deserve nothing less. Not for people exposing hate or greed or envy.... but for what matters.... How we uplift one another, in good or bad times..... to make this a BETTER world for our Grandchildren.

Patty was from an era where true talent was rewarded. I know she says she struggled being a woman in a mans profession but I never saw that. Today, talent is not the key metric, it's who has the best marketing team or the right connections. Very few musicians today can sing. Country music is dead, although Chris Stapleton has done his part to revive it.
