Sorry for your loss. I'm glad you were able to fix the problem so quickly.

Thank you. Yea, I am glad it was not something out of my control like a weasel.

Aw man, that is so upsetting! I hope things get better for you. Our chicks haven't decided to use their roosting bar yet, though apparently that'll come as they get older. They still pile at night but they do it in a corner away from the door. Homestead living is an adventure! At least your onions look really good. Our okra is starting to bloom so we'll be harvesting them soon. Take care!

Same exact thing just happened to our chicken about an hour ago. Pretty upset but glad we’re not alone. Pretty infuriating that these companies don’t really warn about this problem.

Yea, I went back to the string operated doors. They seem to be the best.

Sorry to hear about you oi amigos estou muito triste. no ano passado, meu amigo me deu 4 galinhas de graça.

I hate weasels! Lost 4 birds in one night. Saw it last night but missed it in the dark.

Could it have eaten something that internally killed it? A bee or bug that stings throat? Something lodged in there? We had two ducks mysteriously die and both were in protected areas from major predators. Different times.

It was definitely the door. They sleep on the floor right in front of the door and often try to squeeze in past each other. There was an abrasion right behind her jawline where it looks like the door squished her head.

Probably died from hemolytic anemia... be careful on the quantity and frequency feeding chickens onions and garlic as little as possible as these can be healthy but only in very small quantity and be a once a week treat because of one does not know the tolerance before succumbing? Just because it may be beneficial also can be deadly to them... it is the same of cats and dogs in the same way just in case they consumed on their own or was fed by mistake as it is the amount eaten and that is also with chocolate and cocoa? You should refer to a vet or do some research on this to avoid anymore deaths?!?

Thanks for your thoughts John. It was the door that killed her. Funny you mentioned food because we have a video that we are releasing next week dealing with what to/what not to feed your chickens. I am very aware of food dangers for chickens. I appreciate your concern. Have a great night!

No. It was healthy. It was the door. Crushed her head.

The chicken may have just died - could have been egg bound - if a predator killed it they would have taken it with them.
@CountryLivingExperience4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your thoughts. They are not egg laying age yet so I knew that was not the problem. Some predators don't take the chicken like a weasel, opossum, cat, etc. It was the door that crushed her head.

A predator would have left some kind of a sign of trauma,,,
