Yes, this is 70s rock. The best decade for rock music ever.

In their prime ..there wasn't a band that could follow them .. Welcome to the greatest American band in history

I'm from Georgia, and I've loved Skynyrd since I was in high school! Class of 79'! And thank you for realizing that the band that is touring today is a cover band!

This version of the band: Ronnie Van Zant - Lead singer Gary Rossington - Lead guitar on Call Me The Breeze and many others Alan Collins - Rhythm guitar on Call Me The Breeze (he's wearing red) and many others and lead guitar on Freebird Steve Gaines - Rhythm guitar on Call Me The Breeze (he's wearing the light colored shirt and denim vest) Leon Wilkeson - Bass guitar and backing vocals Billy Powell - Piano Artimus Pyle - Drums Steve Gaines was from Oklahoma and took over the third guitar part from Ed King (from California) who left the band. Artimus Pyle was from South Carolina and took Bob Burns place as drummer after Bob left the band. Ronnie, Gary, Alan, Leon, Billy and Bob were all from the west side of Jacksonville, Florida and most went to the same high school. The band's name is a parody of their physical education teacher, Leonard Skinner, who hassled them about their long hair. On October 20, 1977, Ronnie, Steve, Cassie Gaines (Steve's sister and a backing singer), their road manager and both pilots were killed when the chartered plane they were traveling on to their next concert ran out of fuel and crashed. All the other band members on the plane sustained injuries, many of them severe. Gary Rossington was the last living original member of the band when he passed away last year. The live video version of Freebird at the Oakland Coliseum 1977 (about 3 months before the plane crash) is epic. Another good live performance to check out is "T for Texas" at the same venue (Knebworth, 1976) as this version of "Call Me The Breeze".

Born and raised in jacksonville florida a lot of bands came from here Molly Hatchet 38 Special hung with Molly Hatchet and 38 Special more than Skynard. When they took off there wasn't anymore hangin out

Steve Gaines was such an incredible musician, that whole band was just sick. Wilkeson's bass is an all-timer and the whole slew of guitarists of the original Skynyrd roster is 2nd to none. Pyle's drumming is the cherry on top.

@@gmarky81 It was Knebworth festival. They were third on the bill behind The Rolling Stones and 10cc. Most of the audience hadn't heard of them, although I had, but they blew everyone off the stage.

The band was formed by schoolmates and they named the band after a teacher named Leonard Skinner, who used to harass them about the length of their hair.

Is that Artemus Pyle on the drums? Artemus has a Skynyrd tribute band, and yes, he plays the drums. The band is great.

I lean toward the Allman Brothers, but I have always loved this one, it is foot tapping, dancing, cannot sit down song.

Just stink, those kids in the crowd are the age of your grandparents! How does that hit you in between the eyes?😂😂😂😂😂

The camera not capturing any of Billy Powell’s epic piano solo is downright criminal. I actually think the video of this song from The Old Grey Whistle Test is better than this despite them being down to only 2 guitarists at that time.
@vicmusgrave1278Ай бұрын
You missed a lot of the song with that audio.

This live video was in 1976 , I actually saw them the night before the plane crash in 1977.

No disrespect. But most live versions of any band is subpar, i cant in good concious hit the like button or subscribe for that reason. I know i’m a nobody but if your goal is to earn subs and content fans; not going to happen; but i do admire you young folk being interested. But live just dont get it for the majority🤷

we survive without u ;) the main goal isn't sub but be happy with what we're doing, we can't make everyone happy, remember your opinion isn't the same as others

@@CelcaReact got it. Loud and clear👍 my bad. Mostly folks create a music reaction channel as a side hussle $ and they do very very well. But like you stated, thats not you purpose; so why the videos🤷
