Please clarify Why the wall Reactions and Moments not considered on such calculation
@studentengineering3 жыл бұрын
Great question! The problem wants us to find the distance d between A and B so that the resultant moment is 200 N*m. That resultant moment would be the reaction moment where the pipe is connected to the wall. So the wall moment reaction is considered because it is used to help find the distance d.

Why did you use 50k instead of -50k?
@studentengineering Жыл бұрын
Great question! Since the two 50k forces are both twisting the bar in the same direction (they are both part of one couple moment) the sign used doesn’t make a difference as long as you stick with the same convention through the whole problem. Does that make sense?

Why do we still use d for the 35N force as the diatance between the 35N forces when the distance d is not perpendicular to the force 35N

Great question! They actually are parallel

Why isn't AC used instead of AB for m1.
@studentengineering2 жыл бұрын
Because AB is orthogonal to the moment arm and AC is not

for m1 how come the -35kN didnt count and wasnt included when solving the cross product. you only used 50i
@studentengineering2 жыл бұрын
M1 was just the couple moment caused by the 50kN forces. M2 was the couple moment caused by the 35kN forces. That’s why only the 50kN was included in the cross product for solving for M1 and only the 35kN was included in solving for the cross product of M2. Does that make sense?

I am a new student in engineering do you have any tips for me and thanks ❤

My advice would be to prepare to work hard as an engineering student because there is a lot of things to learn. I would also recommend trying to get real-world experience in the engineering field that you’re studying if you can. That will help things be more interesting and make more sense. It will also help you be a better engineer.
