This was filmed so long ago, Ariel is not pregnant in the video. You can have sushi while pregnant, it is just recommended you stay away from raw fish for the most part. You can also have tuna while pregnant, you just have to have less than 2 cans a week because of mercury levels. Drinking is never safe while pregnant.

I think Ned and Ariel need to talk to Keith and Chris about getting a better rubric together for this show. The home date is often super fun, but in general its always going to be hard for home cooks to compete with a fine dining experience. It would be cool to hear not just which one was better, but what were the best points of each date and what things they're likely to make for themselves again. Kind of like a "this is totally a worthwhile diy project" vs "it's simply better to have the professionals do it" sort of thing. Love the show regardless! This one gave me a serious sushi craving.

@MinesCafe.OHG Sushi literally means sour rice, it used to refer to the fermented rice that they used to preserve fish with which they decided to start eating with the fish. Nowadays its not fermented instead it just has a vinegar solution. So you can have literally anything on vinegared rice and call it sushi, whereas putting raw salmon on plain sushi rice is not real sushi

Just that it has to be dunked fish side down, and after consuming one type of fish, for example, you had salmon, and then youll have tuna, you must first eat a ginger to clear the taste of the previous fish. If the chef wants to express his food in a way that lets you taste every ingredient, thats what you have to respect, not ruin it just because of ignorance. All they had to do was make one more stop and their sushi would've been a hell of a lot better.
