Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🦃 Thank you all for all your wonderful support and for watching my videos! Your support, comments, and feedback means so much to me and I thank you so much! I hope you all have a wonderful, Happy Thanksgiving day! 🙏🙏
In today's video we will first be discussing the very bizarre disappearance of a young couple who was hiking near Valentine Lake, British Columbia, Canada on September 4, 2010. Jonathan Jetté and Rachel Bagnall were a young couple in love and very into physical fitness and the outdoors. This was set to be their last hiking trip together before Rachel would be moving to Columbia to do volunteer work for underprivileged communities. They were supposed to be back in Vancouver on September 6, however, when they were several days late, Rachel's sister contacted the RCMP and SAR. The search got started right away and by helicopter they located Jonathan's car on Spetch Creek Forest Service Road (that lead to Valentine Lake) it was roughly a 5 hour hike from where they found the car.. no other trace of the couple has ever been found.. in this video i discuss all the details and added searches that were done.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of Jonathan Jetté and Rachel Bagnall, all their friends, and everyone who worked so hard trying to find them🙏🙏 I hope they can be brought home to you one day soon🙏🙏
The second case is the first part of a story of a couple living alone in a remote area of Colorado. After they had their Thanksgiving dinner, the next day John decided to go out for a hunt. he left early in the am and was only supposed to be gone for a few hours.. his wife said she heard what she thought was a shot around noon, however, she didn't go out looking for him until almost 4pm. She found him deceased next to a fence from 2 gunshot wounds.. The police would later test her for GSR which she said was positive due to practicing at a range earlier in the day. Her story continued to fall apart.. in this video I cover the first part of the story and in my next video I will be sharing the conclusion.

My husband and I were living in the Squamish/ Pemberton area of BC when this couple went missing. It was upsetting then and it’s still upsetting now. Because no trace of them has ever been found I’m convinced they fell into a dangerous area and hope they died quickly! If a grizzly had attacked there would have been some gear scattered about, so they must have had their pack on when they fell. The scenery in that part of the country is magnificent….but sadly it can kill you. Tip to hikers…invest in GPS or satellite telephone technology before venturing out onto the trail.

Yes, never go into a wilderness area without navigation equipment and a gun. The vastness of the area and the imprecise destination of this couple make it impossible to know what happened, but a Grizzly attack is possible. Gear would be left behind, but it's still like finding a needle in a haystack. If they fell climbing, they likely will never be found. Ice and snow would entomb them.

I recall the Canadian border patrol, I forget their name offhand, warning me how dangerous BC can be being a single male in the outback... and I assumed even around some towns. The U.S. side noted how he was amazed what the Canadian's let in and out. Like literally murders and fugitives that want to hide out... and that's not even the narcotics trafficking route stuff. Creepy... never really heard anything like that over on the Ontario and Winnipeg borders. Maybe a little like once or twice an incident along the Winnipeg U.S. border and more with the routes of Salt St. Marie and more-so downstate from the thumb crossings down. Nothing homicide comes to mind other than coming into the U.S. I guess more from the streets like sneak attack street style. Though yeah... B.C. reminds me of Alaska and how so many go missing. Wondering what the actual statistics are? Shame that liberal area gets those worst liberal with crime as it gets malicious.

I've taken part in a few search efforts. Something folks don't really understand is how easy it is to overlook a body. More than one search has been called off only to find a body in an area that was searched multiple times. One case I was involved in, part of the search party literally walked On top of the body twice.

That is so true, people don't understand how the eyes and brain work. When i was younger and hunting in the woods i have sit against a tree and had guys walk just a few feet right past me and never even knew i was there. I learned from a old man how to walk up to white tall deer. They put head down tail goes up when deer raise head up tail goes down. If you are down wind and remain motionless still deer will look dead at you and never see you. They will be nerves but because they can not id you they will not run. When they go back to eating you can move closer. Ever seen a squirrel just appear on a tree limb it has been there along but had not moved so your eyes could not id it.

@redneckhippiefreak

@@ladweeb1798 That depends on a lot of factors. Time, Conditions, the persons skills and exposure to all of the above. A body doesn't rot in the snow or in temperatures under 30Deg. and once it does start to rot, , animals come for dinner and spread the body around into small pieces over a larger area. , or, if its hot and dry like a desert, , the body dries out and the smell isn't as noticeable., If you are on the leeward side of a hill, or in a mountain ravine, You won't smell anything until you pass the body, If it smells at all due to the forest litter and trees soaking it all up. Or, My favorite, If the person was smart enough to build a shelter, they wouldn't be seen or smelled as they essentially buried themselves already.

@@ladweeb1798 Usually those are limited resources that need to be called in by some law enforcement brass... although some do volunteer. Also has to do with the areas accessibility to trained dogs and handlers. Plus, if someone one went off track, as is the case in many instances, finding the scent is subject to the same environmental exposure times as well as the proximity to the asset. The dog may have a good nose but if it is put on the wrong scent or in the wrong area it goes overlooked.

In September 1994 I went hiking with my cop boyfriend to the Tres Mares Peaks in the Picos D'europa. This story was almost our story. I had been up Brecon Beacons 3 times, and was an aerobics queen who'd grown up doing army assault courses, but had no actual "mountaineering" experience. We did not have a phone, or a gps, or even a map (stupid I know), we didn't even have a plan of what to do if something went wrong. We had told no one at our empty off season hotel where we had gone that day. He had the car keys in his pocket. We hiked to the top under a closed ski lift. The weather was fine, but we took no cold weather gear. We did not know there are bear and wolves. At one point we were on a very high craggy long narrow scramble only ridge with steep drops on each side. He would go ahead and call to me, and where I couldn't see him, I would follow his voice. It felt like being on a plane, we were so high, looking down across the staggering views into the valleys; (we did encounter a family of condors). If he had gone off the edge, I would've been unable to get back. If I had gone off the edge, he would've endangered himself saving me. Sadly I think this is what happened to the couple.

I read about a case back in 1942 where a couple went to check on cows and said they'd be back to make dinner for their seven children in an hour. They were never seen again until 2017. There was an extensive search at the time but they'd both fallen in a crevasse. I know the search would not be as professional as today but it was only a small area between their home and the cows and still, they disappeared. When you mentioned crevasses in the area and a much wider search area there are plenty of possibilities where they could fall into a hole and never be found. If you take into account that the weather was getting worse and shortened the search it seems very reasonable to think it was a natural event, as opposed to something suspicious.

The first rule of a glacier is never go on it unless you are roped with others and are skilled and experienced in glacier travel. Crevasses only occur on glaciers and this story you tell us at the start must have been in the Alps, cuz there are no backyard glaciers in the USA or Canada, except maybe Alaska.

@@shansolos - As I said, they found them in 2017. They'd fallen in a crevasse on the way to feed the cattle. That was the entire point of telling the story, that they definitely fell into a crevasse and were not found for 75 years. So it was an example of how that can happen to a couple. Google "Marcelin and Francine Dumoulin" and you can read about the case. They were discovered as they worked their way out of a glacier. It just took a while. So as there are many crevasses in the area this couple went missing git is definitely a possibility.

The missing hikers in Canada- I was part of a group of hikers searching for missing hiker Josh Hall. He went missing Feb.3rd 2021. Went up in bluebird sky's and by noon a whiteout hit then he vanished. Once we pinpointed his last phone pings, we narrowed our search. His remains were finally found in an area that was roughly a half to a full mile from the main, well traveled, trail in Aug. This was after the winter thaw and wildlife(some coming out of hibernation) being active. Only thing left was skeletal, his backpack, cell and his dog's leash. That's only a 7 month period of time. We got lucky due to cadaver dogs. I'm certain had those dogs not alerted, chances are those remains would've been swallowed up by the earth and gone forever. Many, many times we, as hikers, would sit in an area eating lunch and trying to put ourselves in his head or in a hikers mindset to figure out what he was thinking and if he went this way or that way, why or what reason would he have. After recovering him, our best guess is, he dropped down into the valley to get out of the elements and once he got low enough, he went into the forest, stopped walking(which was the kiss of death because he didn't have a heat source to keep warm) he got comfy, started cooling down fast, got sleepy and fell asleep and never woke up. In searching for these hikers in Canada, if any searching hikers are reading this, think outside the box!! If you have access to phone pings, you know you're close. One of Josh's pings was within 100 yrds of where he was found. At this point, years later, it's going to be tough. Out of place backpacks would be my target search. 🤙

I went as far as leading a whiteout snowshoeing trip to show people what it was like being in those situations and we had a fantastic time. I gave specific instructions on gear to bring and what not to. All but 1 followed instructions and well, the 1 didn't come. For years I’ve been saying that “it’s the 21st Century. The bad guys figured it out” Put yourself in the shoes of someone looking to pull off a few quick muggings. Why do something heinous on the street where there are cameras everywhere when the average hiker is in a defenseless mindset, away from immediate help, out of cell range & probably unarmed? This drives many in the hiking community nuts but when I trek I carry bear spray in case of a bad animal encounter and I hike armed. Having grown up in the 80’s trail ethos were very anti gun in N CA. Well, it’s not the 80’s anymore. For that matter this isn’t N CA either 😉God bless, everyone

The wilderness is exactly that - the distances are vast, the terrane treacherous and the weather unpredictable. Throw in the possibility of human predation and, while tragic and rare, their disappearance is understandable. There is comfort in knowing that they faced whatever took them from their loved ones together and left together for a place where they rest in peace. 🙏🏼

I get a very strong sense they gave a ride to someone. I get these from time to time and feel very strongly about this particular case. They will never find their remains where they were to go. They never made it there. That someone I feel was involved in their ultimate demise. I wonder if the Tim Hortons has any video footage on the day they were there? Did they fingerprint the car?

Interesting point. If they did meet an untimely demise at someone's hand, they'd have to give their plan itinerary to a stranger... most likely in a public place... with security video cameras near. Crimes like this, if it is a crime, are based on impulse and random opportunity. Most difficult to predict.

Since you asked, watched once through and partway a second as I type this: I have worked decades in the Canadian far north, all the mountains as well; in research and operational forestry, also as an extreme sports enthusiast ( paragliding, kiting, snowboarding etc.). It can be rough and unforgiving, I lived in the Canyon, had big cats in my mountainside backyard many times over the years, and so much more. Remember, slips, trips, and falls are the number one accident in the country, it is no different among outdoor enthusiasts. Once, when I was operating a 160,000 acre operation in Saskatchewan, I tracked poachers routes by bird sign, the thaw had revealed what you would expect and the Ravens were in a feeding frenzy.

@@paddlefar9175 The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were formed on May 23, 1873 to preserve order in the new territory of the Canadian Northwest. They were called the North-West Mounted Police at first. Part of the Northwest Territories became the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. As you can see they were called Mounted Police because they were mounted to patrol the vast areas. The force became the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1920 when it emerged with the Dominion Police and took over federal law enforcement.

Good to see search with all RCMP and SAR assets. I have lived in BC since 1980 and in Northern BC since 1996. After arriving in Nothern BC I was warned you are only a 10 or 15-minute hike from lost forever and surrounded by predators so learn Map, compass, GPS and carry bear spray and air horn. It is suicide to go into the BC wilderness without those skills and predator protection. You may be walking on the trail, but when dusk, darkness, fog, snow move in trail disappears, or you cross the path of a grizzly, black bear, wolf, or cougar. The only way out is with the use of a map, compass, GPS, or call from your sat phone, or emergency locator SOS or inreach . This couple was lost before the advent of emergency locators but they should have had a map, compass, GPS. RIP fine couple.

This is why I keep emphasizing on the importance of having a satellite phone while going hiking in remote areas such as these! Operation olive branch is the Turkish genocide of the Kurds inside Afghanistan/ Syria they use misinformation to their advantage and put all Kurds under one organization (PKK) meanwhile the Kurds are made up of tens of political groups that do not affiliate in any means with the PKK they use it as a means to execute anyone that they deem as PKK you can find multiple videos on the internet of Turkish soldiers executing prisoners of war. One particularly horrific one is when they got hold of Kurdish rebels that are against the genocide and executed the 10 woman soldiers while laughing because they previously took out one of their technicals.
