My two sisters and I deep cleaned my Mom’s little house when she was in the hospital for ten days. After binging these videos last night, I felt motivated to tackle a few drawers in my bathroom. First the make up drawer. I was ruthless. Getting rid of things I no longer used. Consolidating what i wanted to keep into separate bags. Then the "everything else" drawer. I started finding things I forgot I had. The struggle was real. This is useful, but I don't use it, at least not often. But I got through it. Got it organized. Then the little organizer sitting on my toiletry drawer. That's when I got overwhelmed. What to keep, what to toss. How to make it look nice. I decided I hated it. Had a near-break-down and had to stop for the day. Meanwhile, my boyfriend, also motivated, reorganized every cabinet in the kitchen and laundry room with nary a sigh. We are not the same.

I hear you, I hate tossing things that might be useful. If it's something that I can pass on to somebody else, it makes it a whole lot easier. Where I really struggle is with things that I have to toss because nobody else would use them, yet I still would. For example when I get stains on a t-shirt that I can't get out, I use it just for around the house. I've discovered however that I don't feel good wearing these things even just in the house. I struggled with tossing it, because I really hate adding to the landfill. I had an old nightgown that was getting ratty too. I ended up cutting it up into strips & will use it to tie up my tomato plants next summer. It'll look a little weird, but I feel a little better about being able to use it one more time before it adds to the landfill.

No time to clean after long hours and overtime. Lots of dust, dog hair and clutter. It took 3 bags of vacuum cleaner bags cause I also vacuumed the windows, screens, window tracks, furniture, dog beds, doors, floors and front porch with patio furniture. Also the back patio. Her house looked clean and she came home to her SANCTUARY. I do the same for my other sibling and since I recently retired, I did the same for my house. For clutter & mess establish what the bulk of it is & do that first. So if it's mostly trash do that first. If it's clothes do those first. If it's empty boxes do that first. Then do small areas at a time. Like beside the bed or top of a dresser. You don't have to do it in one day. Aim to do 3 small areas minimum. You can always do more if you get into it.
@gardeninginthedesert Жыл бұрын
Sarah gave good tips. For me I like to start at the door and work clockwise with a bag and pick out all the trash. Second in the same order take out stuff that doesn't belong in that room. Don't get distracted putting it away, just dump it in the room where it's supposed to be and head back to the room you're cleaning. Next put away what's supposed to be there. Next clean and you're done. As Sarah said just do one surface or section of a surface at a time. And do try to declutter, I did a huge declutter in 2016 with Konmari and I've kept on top of everything since. I was a messy person for 48 years and since 2016 my home has been mostly clean and tidy.

The next time you’re in a room you want to clean, start on the right hand wall only. If you feel like cleaning everything on the next wall, go for it. If you do a wall a day or every other day, then change the bed one day, then vacuum, you could be done in a week. If you have a walk in closet make sure you do that too, so you don’t have to do a long clean. lol My aunt taught me that she cleans something in her bathroom everyday, like tub one day, toilet the next day, mirror and walls one day, countertop one day, then the floor-so it’s all cleaned once a week. This system also helps her stay less messy cuz she knows she’ll be cleaning it up within the week. It’s really helped me stay on the bathroom and it’s quick now. Putting it off for a long time made me clean for hours in the bathroom. Hope that helps.

For me as a perfectionist about my home to the point of obsession never thinking it was clean or tidy enough which is exhausting, I now accept what family and friends have told me so many times, if I didn't clean my home for a month it would still be way up there in terms of cleanliness and I don't need to stress about it 😊

My mother's routine was always "dust, then wipe". for some reason it became un-doable to me. But your style teaches me why this process works and how to accomplish it. TY so much! And TY for the laughs.

The air filters/fans they had were the most dirty of any I've ever seen. Hopefully they can get a new one with a washable filter. With a dog that drops a ton of hair buying constant replacements gets expensive. I loved the longer video.. You've got me saying "you can just suck it" all the time now. :) it just cracks me up.

But for real, even though I’m envious on the Torani syrups, I am amazed by your kindness and willingness to help others when their situation might be bleak in their eyes. I love watching your cleaning because it motivates me to get off my duff and get going! Thanks for all you do!

Very nice! I love that you explain how people sometimes get into this situation. My family is not very understanding, or believing, that adhd and other disorders are real. I really appreciate you explaining these things. Keep up the great work! 🎉

For anyone with dogs or textured tiles actually any kind of floors get yourself a rubber broom! You can even use them to get dog hair off carpet the hair that gets stuck in the carpet that your vacuum can’t pick up 🎉 they kind of roll all the hair and dust up. Subscribed! You do your work with such respect and compassion towards the home owners and I think now they won’t feel so overwhelmed and will be able to do small maintenance cleaning ❤

Bravo ! 🌸🌸🌸

I don't know why, but this is my favorite of all your videos. Maybe it is because the satisfaction of seeing things being cleaned. Reminds me of the time my family lived on a busy road with construction -- and we coouldn't keep the dust out of the house. We were constantly having to clean and whip down items..... which is a pain.

I had an extension built years ago and the dust and dirt got into every room in my house, even weeks after the building work stopped the dust still settled. I feel for these homeowners!

Your two videos have helped me get through my morning. I’ve got an extremely sore aching back and just can’t seem to get started today 😖I love all the sounds of the videos sped up~ I giggle to myself every time. I always envision little chipmunks running around..haha Thanks for the laughs, Mr. Clean and another awesome video. I needed them today. I have no doubt the couple of this home was extremely grateful. What a blessing to come home to. Makes my heart smile when people do kind things for others, just because. We need more of that in the world. Hope you & your wife have a great weekend☺️❤️ P.S. I also Loved the Christmas tree~adorable!

Just found your channel,and I will definitely share it with my husband of 50 years. He always volunteers to help me clean, which is sweet, but I cringe at the thought of him cleaning anything. He's a half done, good enough type of cleaner. That goes against all my OCD instincts. You are awesome!

Well after he’s half done, u go and do the other half! Still helpful hehe 😊

Oh boy, I love these videos! I am an 81 year old widow. I am a mental cleaner! I vacuum, dust, clean the windows clean the bathrooms clean the kitchen and at the end of the day, I am totally exhausted! I look around, only to find that nothing has been done, despite all my effort! LOL I do have congestive heart failure and when I do put out physical effort, I tire quite easily and then end up getting discouraged. I'm hoping to gain lots of incentive from your videos even though my progress may be at a much slower pace! Thank you so much and all of those of you who post. I realize I'm not entirely alone. 😅
@wendyganel335311 ай бұрын
@@CG-mj8tk If only his half were clean. He finishes vacuuming a room in 10 minutes that it takes me at least an hour to finish. I have been thinking, though. I could just let the dirt stay put, enjoy retirement, and let my children clean it when I'm gone😱

What has helped me to understand is what depression can look like. I have lost family members since 2014. I wound up hibernating in my room. I gained weight, my house was bad, not quite as bad as some. And listening to you has helped tremendously. Thank you

I really love your channel and your silly sense of humor. You remind me of my 3 boys. I cleaned for over 30 years. You do so much more than I did. I collected the very best customers. Once in a while I was asked to do all the extra things for them. I was happy to do anything they wanted. I sure miss cleaning and my wonderful customers. It is absolutely amazing what you do for free. You will be rewarded. Never doubt that!

Next time you come across fruits and potatoes on the counter, see if you can find a large bowl for each in the cabinet. Empty the apples and potatoes from the plastic bags into the bowls. The homeowners will see them on the counter and it will save you the angst of what to do with them ☺
