Guys, as a retired psychologist who did couples therapy, I would recommend that couples set up a time during the week to discuss issues. Make sure you are both rested and fed so you are at your best. Put a piece of paper on the fridge and each can put things on it to discuss. AND make sure you do fun things together. Research shows that couples who do 5 fun things to 1 non-fun thing have better relationships. Dr John Gottman did empirical research on what works for couples. Best wishes, love birds.

Self-sabotage is so destructive. It's good that you can recognize that about yourself and self-correct. You have really grown and matured, Zach. You seem more grounded and at peace with yourself. Alistair is such a calm gentle loving soul. He clearly adores you. I think he gives you the stability and confidence to take your life to the next level. You can tell that he really believes in you. ❤️ Now you just need to believe in yourself and stop sabotaging all the wonderful things that are coming your way. Good luck!

8:30 funny you should mention that, because years ago, when I was backpacking through western Europe, I was just outside Barcelona, hiking in the foothills of Mount Tibidabo. I was at the end of this path and I came to a clearing. There was a very secluded lake and there were tall trees all around. It was dead silent, and across the lake I saw a beautiful woman bathing herself. But she was crying...

Zach & Alastair, I'm so glad you posted today. I miss seeing you guys being so real about your relationship. I love to see your insights into keeping a relationship going. Hubby and I have been together for 18 years and married for two of that. No relationship is "perfect." It takes work and communication is one of the keys to a successful one. It was difficult for us in the beginning as I only speak English, and at the time, he basically only spoke Spanish, but we've made it work all these years because we learned how to communicate. I actually taught him English along the way. Having these Q&A/therapy sessions is a very good thing. Even if you don't post them, you definitely should continue them. But, I for one, appreciate each and every time you let us into your life. I look forward to all of your content, no matter what the subject is. You two are GREAT! Loved your comments about where you would be 50 years from now. My partner and I are both in our 70's now and been together for 53 years! We don't have a compound as you hope for nor do we have any children & grandchildren, but we're still going strong and so grateful we have each other to spend our senior years together. It is such a different world today than it was for many of our years, especially the first 25 or so. Wished we had lived in a time that having the ability and legal rights to have children would have been an option for us. It just was unheard of back in the 60's, 70's and even well into the 80's. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that same sex marriage would become legal, so a lot of positive progress has been made for gay people. Hopefully that will continue in the years ahead. Best of luck with your relationship. It isn't always easy, but if you work together and are able to compromise, you will attain at least 50 years together. It it appears you two have a great foundation already.

Self sabotaging is an issue with looking to get control over a situation meaning you get to decide when and what bad things get to happen it’s helpful to be aware of our powerlessness and to surrender but also keeping in mind that no matter what we’ll be okay and trust ourselves enough to know we can go thru things and still be able overcome them.

I've been in long-term relationships since I was 33 (been gay all my life) - the first, 8 years, with the love of my life - '86 death; the second 14 years in a relationship that basically gave me the time I needed to recover from the ramifications of my 8 year relationship; the third is now 20 years with my Spaniard who keeps me on my ancient (71 y/o) toes - in my life I've learned that every 10 year of my life has brought better understanding of who I am and an opportunity to digest what the universe has brought to me during the previous 10 year period. You guys are willing to do the work, including plowing through your youthful testosterone rushes. Just respect one another's buttons and you'll enjoy retirement together.

It's always a nice surprise to log in and have a new video from either or both of you. Thank you for continuing to share these snippets of your life with us. And wishing you the best in finishing that book! The writing that you have shared on your channel and and you display with your video narration shows exceptional ability with words and sentence structure and conveying emotion. I, for one, will be excited to read anything you write.
