Srinakarin Dam set in the mountains of Kanchanaburi in the next installment of the Way of the Playa series.
In this special episode named The Playa Over the River Kwai, I show you that you can jam around any course at any stage no excuses. It doesn't matter what junk equipment you have or the fact you're wearing a purple shirt.
My editing software: www.jdoqocy.com...
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
STORE: waddaplayagolf...
FB: / waddaplaya
IG: / golfsidekick
URL: golfsidekick.com/
Key takeaways here:
1. Aim correctly on new courses. look for the bail out area.
2. If you play a harder ball, be careful to adjust your landing spot when chipping to be a bit closer to you
3. Playing a big fade is fine as you can see. Just aim for it.
4. Chipping and putting beats this nonsense Strokes gained that they're peddling to you to get you to buy drivers and go for lessons.
5. Distances were not that different to modern balls and irons. The driver was much shorter than a titanium and modern ball combo.
6. NEVER change your putter if the one you have works. This one I used for the front nine sucked and I was scared it would kill my confidence with the utter so I went to the car and got my normal onee.
I reckon the driver and ball combo was about 25-30 yards shorter than a modern combination.

Very nearly at three million views overall playa (says 2,999,683 at the moment so probably will have hit 3 mil by the time I’ve commented) - Waddachannel! Very recently taken up golf with my dad - I used to join him for 18 holes every other year or so (and I used to pick my balls up on at least 9 of them) but now going out together once a fortnight. Stumbled across your channel after watching a few youtube videos aimed at “beginners” that really just didn’t speak to me. All the large golf channels seem hell-bent on indoctrinating beginners to believe that we all need to swing like carbon-copies of professionals and we can’t break 100/90/80 because we aren’t getting those extra 10 yards out of each club that we would with the secret that only they have. Sure at a professional level where everyone can chip well and a 3-putt is a rare sight then it is the big hitters who have the advantage - but for us casuals why should we aim for the best drive of our lives and then a little chip when we can take two stress free shots? 2 strokes are still 2 strokes playa! Thought to myself there has to be an easier way to improve than this nonsense they’re trying to sell - surely those extra 10 yards are something to worry about once you’ve perfected your game management and pretty much every other area of your golf it seemed to me. So refreshing and interesting to see both your tips on the psychology of the game and philosophy of focussing on processes and clever course management instead of outcomes. This seems much more intuitive and applicable to real-world golfers than any of those abundant “the new grip YOU NEED that will ENTIRELY CHANGE your game” videos pushed by the big golf channels that are more interested in adding views to their channels and selling us lessons than taking strokes off their subscribers’ games. Your advice of playing YOUR own game, but playing it well and intelligently, seems to honestly be the best way to go ahead. Looking forward to trying to break 100 for the first time next week - going to take your advice and just take the few clubs I’m comfortable with in my bag and play the clever playa way! After that it’s time to beat 90 and then my old man haha

Shot 46 in 9 the other day after started triple triple. Best stretch of golf ive ever played 4 over thru 7 holes. My putting thanks to matt is absolutely unreal 20 yard pitch shot ive bumped THROUGH the rough with a 6i and onto the green for my 2 putt bogeys haha!! My game has changed so much now that im thinking from the green to the tee and making a plan BEFORE i get to the course and sticking to it aside from the occasional club changes from the chunky or skinny shots. Keep that head down and sink those putts!

Thanks for shirt and shorts--be here next week. Found your channel two weeks ago and after numerous videos I was finally able to get out today after two weeks of snow and rain. Shot an 89, with double bogeys. Said to self those are 2 of you 6 "birthday holes." Left the driver in the car and tee'd off with a 4 wood or less. Laid up and watched for hazards per your videos. Was a great round. Thanks!!!

Starting to see benefits of using: Stress Free Golf approach Taking ego out of the game Planting feathers Pared all par fives this weekend teeing off and second shots with 6 iron. Birdied our stroke index 1 hole. Whistled the Birdie Theme most of the round. Need to know the name of that tune , sure it’s mentioned on one video but can’t find it. Happy Golfing.

I have implemented some of your course management ideas for higher handicappers, including your 'stress free' techniques, and yesterday I had the most fun round that I can remember. I didn't pay attention to my score, just concentrated on each shot as it came. I also planned the hole from the green backwards and broke up long approaches into two shorter irons. I even scored par on a short par 4 after using my 8 iron off the tee, something I never would have tried previously. Also took 10 shots off my previous round! Thank you and keep the videos coming. Stress free golf all the way!

Well Ill be Srinakarin Dam! I thought I was the only guy who played with old balls. That happens when you are 60. Went to my local Play It Again Sports store today. (As opposed to "PLAYA" It Again). Traded in this Taylor Made driver that I can only hit straight if I am standing crooked, for a great, used Cleveland 56 degree sand wedge, and an exceptional Odyssey White Hot #7 putter. One mans trash is another mans treasure. Getting both clubs re-gripped tomorrow and employing your course management methodology when I play with my buddies on Friday. This is Gator mating season here in Florida and the golf courses are full of these lovely creatures. As long as I can keep from being eaten alive, I think I have a chance to break 90. I will report back my results. I love this channel!

The balls you are playing are the Ladies Maxfli DDH from 1982. I played with the Men’s ball at the time, which had a compression of 90. The ladie’s ball had a compression of 80. The ball came in two types: Balata & Surlyn. Since you said the ball was hard, I assume that you played with the Surlyn ball. Since the balls are wound, they spin a lot more than balls do today. Thanks for the videos, Playa!

You mentioned filming yourself has helped and I'm thinking of doing a bit of that this summer, swing mechanics and all. Question: Has it done anything to help with your putting? On the 7th (second shot) I'm like 'what's he doing? that's not the way of the playa!!', but then you go and hit an amazing third shot off that tree root! On my card that would have been an 8, but that's why I listen to the playa's playa, you sir! Keep it up and keep growing the movement!

Putting, no help from the camera. The only thing that helped is Mike Malaska on Be Better golf. It's just about eye-putter face-brain-body agreement that you're set up in the right place and then learning to putt it end over end like trying to hit it on a 4 foot ruler all the way down.

Bad shots are frustrating but at the end of the day I use the 3P's of golf and life: Is anyone Pregnant? Am I going to Prison? Am i Paralyzed? Then everything is going better than expected. Can chill. You're too focused on the ball. Swing through to the finish of your swing. Look at the ground in front of the ball if you need to. Just need to stop obsessing with the hit on the ball.. Focus on finishing the swing rather than hitting the ball. A few thinned ones and you'll be just about right as you find your way again. Just remove focus from the ball. It makes your body to funny things.

Why go with driver on hole 6? Your second shot over the trees seems very high stress (at least it would be for me!). Why not go three wood and leave yourself ~150 but have much more space to clear the trees if you hit your natural fade to the right part of the fairway?
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
LOL, was not intendeding on that to happen. Also hadn't played this course before. If I had to do it all over again, I would take the 4 wood on that hole. It's straighter and would leave me an 8 iron in. If I had a better Md wedge, I would take the driver anyway because even over that tree, I don't mind hitting it. I just really HATE the Md wedge. Playa, what do you think about the Rule of 12 for chipping?
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 5 жыл бұрын
Never heard of it. Can you give me a quick summary?
@jeffcalhoun796
@jeffcalhoun796 5 жыл бұрын
Golf Sidekick, the rule of 12 for chipping is a mathematical ratio to help determine which club to use for the chipping distance at hand. Example, if you are 5 yards away from the pin, and you are 1 yard off the green then the ratio would be 1:4, 1 yard carry to 4 yards roll, so you take the 4 yards and subtract it from 12, and you get 8, or the 8 iron. The PW is considered the 10 club so it’s carry/ roll ratio is 1:2
