. I love Siem Reap, been there 4 times now and this was my first golf trip
I stayed here: www.sokhahotel...
and played here: www.angkor-gol...
The van picked me up both days and Dani, the best caddie in the land, was with me for two days as we plotted our way around the Nick Faldo Angkor Golf Resort. Absolutely BRILLIANT. I cannot wait to get back.

Playas, in this video, you find out how to stay focused. I share with you a commitment strategy, how I see the holes ahead, how I like to aim.It's course management on the golf course for the playas who want to play from the back tees.
Even after hitting 3 of water balls off the tee, I still shot 80. How? By not being a whiner, and by not getting down on myself. I also realized that golf is just a game. It's a game and it is fun regardless of what happens. The only time I was stressed in this round was when I didn't commit to a shot and that's my own fault.
The key to great golf is confidence and commitment. You need these two things. Confidence comes from either a) faking it or b) practicing.
Commitment comes purely from you eliminating your demons and just accepting your plan and thinking about nothing else other than executing the plan regardless of the plan. If you can do that, you will be a mental baus.
Only hit shots that you are 100% committed to. No less than that. If you think you can play golf with less than 100% commitment, you're wrong.
Walk away from the shot if you are not committed. Get recommitted then hit the shot.
Other than that, enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the grass, the sand, the water and the greens. There is no better place on the earth than on a quiet, Nick Faldo golf course with beautiful fairways, great greens and wonderful bunkering.

@@jas9239 Turning point for me (years ago) was after butchering a bunker shot I launched my sand wedge in anger - honestly I used to genuinely feel relief watching a badly behaving club helicoptering through the air. Only this time I accidentally threw it in the direction of my playing partner and good buddy. Nearly took his head off. His quick reaction to duck seriously may have saved his life. 😳 To say that was a sobering moment would be an understatement. And that is the last time I threw a golf club.

Your play around and on the green is always on point. When just off the green you put the ball close to the hole for an easier 1 put. When you have a long put on the green you are always put the ball close. That is the part of my game I need to, and can improve. I think I could easily take 10 strokes off and become an 80's golfer. Of all of the golf channels that I have watched yours are always the best for us everyday golfers who just want to play and enjoy the game. I just finished watching a 14 min video on how to get more distance out of an 8 iron by doing all these things that will ultimately cause me to spray the ball. The way of the playa is to golf your game. Instead of an 8 iron hit a 7 or 6 iron. Just by watching your videos and taking your advice of course management and playing my game I have become a consistent 90's (was high 100's) golfer. I didn't have to take a single lesson.

Hey playa, great content. I was wondering if you could do a vid for how to keep focus after a birdie, or a a string of good holes. Obviously as a mid handicapper it’s not a problem I encounter frequently. However, there is very little content out there regarding how to control your emotions when things are going WELL. Emotions such as laziness, complacency, imposter syndrome, or trying to control expectations on the next hole if I’m feeling really good can all become dangerous mental thoughts. Feeling that adrenaline rush on the tee after a birdie is a feeling that’s hard to control. Feeling that I “shouldn’t be hitting birdies” as a mid handicapper and the subconscious self-sabotage is also a deadly demon. Any advice? Keep smashing it fella Rob

I just realized I hit 3 waterballs. I said 2 at the end of the video. On hole 9, the score boards are incorrect. It was 3rd from the hazard, 4th onto the green from the back and then one putt for a bogey, as reflected in the score on the tenth tee (+3 to +4)

Staying positive. That is so hard. Yesterday I hit the shot of my life into a par 5 and had 3.5ft for eagle. Walked away with a par. 3 jacked a 3.5ft eagle putt. Luckily it was a nice day and I was able to just focus on the good shot I hit in and realized that I just got careless with the putting ( especially the missed birdie putt after my head went off on the missed eagle putt ). Was able to move past it and didn't let it affect the last 4 or 5 holes. I was disappointed and it's hard to ignore but I had to just move on and keep playing. I think the lesson for me was not to forget it ( cause in reality you can't ) but to be able to deal with it. Thanks again....
@GolfSidekick
@GolfSidekick 4 жыл бұрын
Yes sir, deal with it we must. We have no choice and plenty more eagle chances in life. That one chance from 3.5 feet may feel like the only one you'll ever have from 3.5 feet, but it won't be. Waddalife. So many eagles out there waiting to grab you

Do you have any videos or thoughts on playing tough course conditions??....for instance, i'm gearing up to play several courses that are notorious for ultra firm greens that drastically reduces proximity...I know the tell tale advice is always hit short and play up, but for some of these courses/holes that's not practical with short side bunkers in play in almost all.

Ultra firm greens need higher approach shots that spin more, so lower lofted into the greens, means bigger shots off the tees. Those courses, the best scramblers do well so you want to have a great short game if you cant hold a 7 iron onto the greens. Play to the fat part of the green where you have the most chance of holding it. Otherwise, use it as a learning exprience. This channel can help with some thinking and strategies but in terms of TOUGH conditions like pro level, I dont get to play on 25 yard fairways and 12 on the stimp, firm greens that often. If you can't bounce it up, just avoid the short side and hit it to a place that will leave an easy chip or to the fat fat fat part of the green so it holds.

180yd 8 iron!!!!??!?!?!?! I need some details on that if you don't mind, was their wind behind you? just a BDE? perhaps a typo during the edit? either way incredible shot playa. Also when are we gonna get a new WITB vid? Curious what irons you're playing now...I know they're Srixon blades but is it all the way through or are you combo-ing them with the 585's, and is that a real 3 wood? Great vid as always, you've helped me get to as low as 8.7 last season and hopefully even lower this year (goal is

Matt I hate to say it but you are starting to look a bit like me. Getting a little chubby in the middle. We were in Siem Reap back in 2004 I think and I don't recognize it. It was just starting to grow at that point. How wonderful it is progressing into a world destination! Another great video!

In college me and 2 buddies were playing a neighborhood course and I completely hooked it off the tee box and off of a roof of a house.... I was so pissed and we were getting pressured from behind so I didn't even play the hole. Next hole was a 140 yard par 3 and I just tried to relax and make contact and boom, first and probably the last hole in one I'll ever shoot lol. I want to get a case for it but because I was so mad after losing my last ball I used a scuffed up yellow range ball out and did it with that.

Hi sir, no I don't know how to cure the shanks other than to do what Tin Cup did and put a tee behind your ear, put your hat backwards, tie your left shoe in a double not and put all your change in the other pockt.
