when I create my course I back up with the trailer because if you have to turn or do an adjustment you have to turn the tractor the opposite way when you have a trailer and backing up compared to the tractor without a trailer

Courseplay handles the direction of the trailer based on the direction of the tractor so that is why you don't want the trailer.
