These lyrics really stuck with me when I first heard this song a couple of weeks ago. It's crazy to think that a simple thing like walking at night is something that can end so badly for some. It's also enraging that we are denied this freedom. Just how prophetic Courtney's song is regarding Eurydice is eery, and reflects literally every woman's fear when its dark and they have to walk home. When I heard about her death, this song immediately came to mind. Whenever I walk at night, I think 'that can't happen to me', yet it happened so close to me. This song is important.

This is probably one of the best songs I've ever heard. I remember how I discovered Courtney Barnett. It was around 2015 and Dead Fox played on the radio. I can agree on her collaboration with Kurt Vile - I like it but it doesn't hold a candle to her solo work. But saying she's going down hill might be too early to say as the new album is not out yet. We need more of us, men, listening to the message in this song, then feeling defensive about the actions of many who they share sex with - hence that alphabet soup line in the song. Because being a little hurt is not nearly as bad as thinking you might get killed in the park.

Don't get me wrong- I think it's a great tune, I just can't get around the "women are scared that men will kill them" line.. I mean, it may be the case, but the majority of men are, believe it or not, actually not out to get women. Most are actually civilised gentlemen rather.
