Being "average" nowadays has such a negative connotation on it when the reality is that most people are average everyday people. You can be a confident person while recognizing you're just a person with real problems and life issues like the next man, but everybody it seems is more focused on being "high value" when, if everyone was "high value" then the term wouldn't exist. Even that phrase is poorly defined nowadays with everyone giving it their own spin, but being a "high value" person is simply about being someone with character, morals, and being someone who provides value to those around you and your community. It's not about the luxury and wealth or the look of a celebrity, but about what you do for others and how you carry yourself as a person.

I agree with your comment. Here's the problem: you can define "high value" in the best light possible according to character, values, and morals. Those traits are not easily measured, especially for capitalistic or entertainment purposes. The term "high value" is not poorly defined; it is poorly measured. The dominant culture MEASURES "high value" according to money making or entertainment traits: number of followers, beauty, luxury items acquired, status job, physique, etc. If you can't become a brand within the dominant culture, they have measured you as not high value. Normal and average are failures in this world now. Who wants to be a "failure" or be part of a failing or not high value relationship?

I agree. Men are ignorant about women's experiences BUT women are also ignorant of men's experiences on dating apps. A lot of women who know me and work with me seem to think men also get messages first and lots of matches. They seem to think men have the same experience as them where women users are making a move and showing interest. And use to always suggest dating apps as they think I'd easily get matches as I'm apprently a good looking man. Thinking men probably get the same experience and when I've shown women I know that's not the case. They are shocked Dating apps suck for both. The sooner men and women stop using dating apps and start going outside to meet each other. The less Misery and Loneliness. Dating apps want men and women to keep searching for financial gain. They want loads of men to not want relationships and want the actual men on it who are looking to get nothing. Because the longer the men and women are on it trying to find a relationship. The more money it makes. Dating apps are playing both men and women on different ways. It's the lotto of dating to me. They don't want most people to actually find love. That is not profitable

I think the whole “having a checklist” and “my man should earn this, should be this tall etc” is the dumbest thing. Having a good/lasting relationship is 99.9% love based. A feeling. Not materialism or anything else. Ofc do I have my preferences, but experience proved me wrong many times. On some occasions I encountered woman that did not fit my “preferences” at all, but I fell bigtime for them. And once you get that feeling that your heart is about the burst, butterflies in your stomach, and wanting to do everything for that person, anything else doesn’t matter anymore. Money doesn’t matter, looks don’t matter, even some personality traits that might be perceived “not attractive” don’t matter. If that feeling is mutual, you have won the jackpot. People these days are so delusional, and are only following their checklists. Those relationships are doomed to fail a lot of the times, or many are unhappy in the relationship they are in. No surprise the divorce rate is skyrocketing these days.
@FearReaper77 Жыл бұрын
And to add to the topic of this video. A lot of people are trying to make sense of something, that just doesn't make sense. So they are pulling out the big old scale and are trying to weigh the pro's and con's in a logical way. This will result in the "below average", "average", "above average", "supreme" etc. labels. How can you apply logic to something illogic as love? If the person has checked all the boxes and is perfect on paper, it doesn't automatically mean that you feel anything for that person. Some people still go for it because it will improve their lifestyle. To those people I will say "Good luck with your relationship. Enjoy while it lasts"

To add to that, anyone that has made a lot of money knows that money can flow nice and easy, it can also go up in a puff of smoke, a big part of making good money is taking risks and sometimes those risks don't work out. My bigger point is that finding somebody that makes a million dollars a year today does not mean they will make that much 20 years from now, 10 years from now or even 1 year from now. They are so focused on getting something that they see no value in sharing , building, being a partner and all that a loving relationship entails. You said the word that is lacking in all of these people in those comments you read, "content". These people are chronic malcontents. Narcassistic individuals who overcompensate for their own average qualities by amassing things for status. A lot of people posting this kind of stuff are plastic, not real and they need the status that comes with money to feel good about themselves. It is proof positive that how we feel about ourselves directly effects how we treat others and what we expect of them. If we have a good amount of self esteem, we will be realistic in our appraisal of ourselves, and our expectations of others. If we lack self esteem, we will be harsh in our expectations of ourselves and will compensate for that by becoming obsessed with raising our status and getting attention. We will also have wildly unrealistic expectations of others because we will see them, not as people with needs or feelings, but as props for our own ego, tools to help compensate for our own issues. Thanks for giving us a normal person's perspective on this rabbit hole of craziness. 🙏

The problem is people put value in the wrong things. Rather than putting value in being a kind, strong, mature human being we put value in how tall someone is or their income. That bad news is that, by definition, most of us are average in most ways. The good news is that it's not necessary to be above average in every way to get someone to date or marry you. You just have to be above average - enough to stand out - in the ways that are important to someone that you're interested in. That's why the mantra "be what you want to attract" is so important.

She is realistic, and definitely down-to-earth in terms of her values and perspective of the world...but she is definitely not 'average' overall. Courtney is in-shape and feminine, the two traits which alone make her immediately above the average women in the USA (given that the average woman is overweight, with nearly a third being obese...and most of them aren't very feminine). Courtney's partner (Teddy Baldassare) is an entrepreneur/influencer likely on the sort of money that all the girls in her comments and in her videos want their dream-man to earn. And this is before we get onto the fact that he is tall, in-shape, and good-looking. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Courtney's videos on the modern dating world and exposing how delusional alot of young people are today, but let's not pretend like she is out here happily dating joe-average, because she isn't. The second marriage vow is literally "for richer or for poorer." I worked like crazy when my wife was substituting while getting her teaching credential, she had my back when I started a business, when it failed, starting a whole new career, and most recently when I took a risk to move up in my new career. Lifestyle should be the absolute last of your concerns when finding a partner. My wife sat next to me when I had a head injury, no guarantees I would ever go back to normal. You see it all the time on social media, people with life changing injuries being taken care of by spouses who have their back no matter what. Your spouse isn't a paypig, they are your foundation.

For me, when I’ve seen videos showing young women talking about how much their husband will need to make, it doesn’t so much make me think the women are gold-diggers-although those undoubtedly exist in the population. Rather, the statements make me think that they are simply part of the overwhelming parts of the population that are economically illiterate. That’s not just young women, it’s not just women, it’s EVERYONE. I hear people all throughout every day demonstrating 100% illiteracy in economic matters, and that’s what I tend to think is happening in most of these videos. We all need grace in our lives from time-to-time, and that means not just that we each need forgiveness from others, but that we need to not automatically assign the worst possible motivations to people when they need grace from us.

Thank you Courtney for this video. I am missing an aspect, though. I think people are already delusional, when they believe that possessions make them happy or make their relationship last. Women often want to decorate themselves with a high class man in the pursuit of some kind of competition, instead of wanting to care and be there for someone else and spend their time with a person. It ends up being about showing off how flashy they are by having and doing expensive stuff. It stems from a sick and shallow society. There is also the expectation, that the money a man makes is to be spent on the woman. First and foremost, it's his money. If a woman makes a lot of money, there would rarely be the assumption that they would have to spend it on their man. In fact statistics show that they would most likely just replace the man, if he doesn't keep up with what she earns.

I swear to god every time I see women approaching their thirties bragging about how high their standards are, I always think "good luck - you'll need it." I don't care how good looking a woman is, when they spout off about how high their standards are, it tells us men that they are actually just entitled and don't know what a standard is or what a fantasy is. Social media and thirsty men have caused a lot of this IMO. Women can get endless attention not even leaving the house when they turn on filters and take special angled pictures and make themselves look like an unrealistic version of themselves and guys in the comments drool all over them. This give them a false sense of their true value in the dating market. Sometimes I want to respond "you don't really look like this in real life", but just laugh and leave it alone. Also, the "strong, independent woman" culture pushes an agenda that women are queens and any man would be lucky to be with them and their faults/behavior should be completely ignored. This is why more and more men are walking way from dating these days and doing their own thing. Hot women will always get men because they're hot. But the majority are average. If you're a 5-7, you can't get away with things a 10 can. It sounds shallow but it's reality. But guys even get sick of the hot ones and their BS. I have a visible disability and even though I'm a good looking guy (by what girls have told me), love fitness at 195 lbs at 5-9, have a good job and are well read, being disabled in this market is as annoyingly limiting as you would imagine. Don't get me wrong I'm the kind of guy who does not let his disability defined him, and are extremely self-assured, but even though it may not matter that much for a drunken one night stand, for dating it for sure is limiting.

Watching these vids I'm convinced Teddy Baldassarre was the last known man to succeed in the modern dating game.

What an amazing message for Courtney to put out there, especially on KZbin. This is truly a humane, humanistic and critically-minded message, and it deeply applies to both genders. The good news is that human beings evolved to bond- date, mate, and relate- and if people are reasonably humble and motivated to improve themselves, then with time they're likely to be mostly happy or at least satisfied in their romantic relationships. It could be better, though, for her to explicitly direct her critique at both genders, and not just women.

I feel bad for Courtney. All she wanted to do is provide cheerful, helpful dating advice and we’re all driving her slowly insane. One day she’s going to post a three minute video of herself just screaming into the camera.

I appreciate this video. It's real. These are not cheerful times and we don't want to see cheerful people talking about how wonderful and easy life is.

If she wants to post a video of her mental breakdown or having a panic attack because her fiance took the dog and ghosted her, I'm here for it. 🍿

The older women get, the higher their standards get, the lower their value gets, and the higher their risk of rejection lol

You're right for the most part but then again there's legions of simps out there that will grovel at their feet.

Such an important vid Courtney! I have been realizing how judgement of myself and others is the toxicity itself. Accepting myself and others as they are is the healing agent that actually empowers me and then others around me to the aspiring heights we all are shooting for… division is exactly that… it divides and keeps us from connecting with others. As I’ve done the work on my self, life has looked so much fuller, rich and intriguing, and what do you know… I feel like I’m surrounded by many beautiful people. That’s not toxic positivity, that’s clearing out the blocks of hurt within me to see myself/others clearly… and then Enjoy it All! Life can be hard, but we will get there together. Many blessings beautiful ones! 🎉✨🫂🥳🕊️

Preach Courtney. The sad reality is that most of these women will fully understand your words at a time when it will be too late for them.

Sigh, it used to be so simple 25 years ago 😪 now all you get is a headache...thanks for keeping it real Courtney!

I think it was still pretty simple around 10 years ago. Back in 2014 when dating apps were a thing but not a norm. I remember that tinder was sort of embarassing back then and it was for people who are too clumsy to connect with others irl. 🤔
