LTC is another area; I went from a receptionist in an urgent care setting, health information tech (medical records), an assistant business office manager, then business office manager. A Business office manager basically manages all accounts receivable functions of a nursing home including preparing write-offs for year end. This experience really leveled me up and for anyone trying to get a head start I would definitely recommend long term care. Also, nursing homes need licensed administrators. Those are 6 figure jobs and you are responsible for managing the nursing home. This is also great experience that is transferable. It requires a bachelors in any field, so many hours of an administrator in training, and to pass the test. Long term care really needs more leaders to care for our geriatric population..

I've worked for an IPA medical group for 6 years, assisting nurses & social workers with the clerical side of patient care coordination & enter auths for providers. My only medical exp was my 2 month M.A externship (which I didn't include in my resume) & office asst exp. Basically, I got in with only office exp, no degree & I love my job so much, I'm now getting my AS in Healthcare Admin. Sometimes, you would REALLY have to know ppl to get in those places & lucky enough for me, I did know someone. From there on, I've gotten a few of my friends in with no medical exp & they've moved up to do medical claims, etc. I know ppl who have master's in their respective fields but work in a restaurant. What I've learned was no matter what degree u have, with no exp or connections, it'll be hard to find a job. Lucky for me, I had both.

Hello Courtney, am from Africa and i have a bachelor's in English. I want to go back to school and am looking at healthcare administration. Would you advise i start with a BHA since i have never done anything health or management related or i could just jump into MHA without facing any future problems? Also, from where i come from, a bachelor's usually takes four years, but the schools am looking at here in Arizona gives you only 15 weeks to complete it and am confused as to how legit that is and if it will not pose any problems during job search? Please advise

Hi Courtney, Great video. Your video has given me a hope to achieve my goal. I finished my BS in healthcare Administration but still struggling to find an entry level job. Right now, I am working in a Nursing home as a Medtech and I have applied for the Concierge to get some experience on administrative but unfortunately the pay rate for concierge is less than what I am getting now. I have a question. If I do LPN on a side, is it plus point to get the management position in the future? I am planning to join LPN class. I want someone to help me on my decision. Looking forward to some reply. Thanks,

I still love this video. I've been on a couple of interviews but the challenges I've come across is that I do not have any experience in handling patient files and EMR. Also, with living in Miami, a lot of these medical offices are looking for spanish speakers only. Spanish required is popping up all over job requisitions now. I've noticed that if you don't have spanish language written onto your resume, it is overlooked. If you do get an interview they ask if you speak any other languages. I feel when I say no, I am being looked down upon. Due to Covid, there has been no volunteer opportunities available. I am feeling defeated.

Hi Courtney great video!!!! I have a question I have a bachelors in HA and a MBA. I’ve been at my current job for 12 yrs working as a Data Analyst and was promoted this yr to a position making 60k. I’m really trying to take steps to get to 80k a year. Which direction should I go? It was so hard to find a job in HA all these years, so I continued with the job I received through a internship. At this moment I feel like I stayed too long and I’m stuck.

What should my next steps be? Get an entry level healthcare job or get my MHA? Or both? Lol

I’m graduating with my BS in Healthcare Administration. I’m currently a medical receptionist and I’m struggling to get into a full time role. If I don’t get a supervisor position in my department, should I consider switching to another part of Patient Access (to get full time) or wait until there’s a full time position? I feel like I’m getting passed off because of my age (21). I want to eventually be a Business Partner, Recruiter, Human Resource Partner, or Medical Sales Rep. Consulting would be my long term goal.

Hi Stephanie, Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! I think you have to do what's best for you. If you can get a full-time job in another department, do it. Make sure to keep the communication lines open with your current supervisor/manager if you decide to apply to another department. THis way you won't burn any bridges and you can switch departments on good terms. Sending you many blessings!

I’ve been trying to find a remote job in medical transcription. I’m I certified and have 15 to 25 years experience I took 3 years of court reporting and transferred at 1&0 wpm before deciding that I really loved the medical field
@randibesser32026 ай бұрын
Transferred at 180 wpm before knowing what comes most natural to me and feel more at home with was medicine and patient care. Life and family responsibilities restricted me from achieving my dream, to become a nurse. So I started my own transcription business fresh out of school. With certificate in hand I knocked on my first door. The doctor was alone in his office, so I introduced myself and told him how and why he would benefit from trying me out. He hired me that day. Gave me 20 little cassette tapes, about 500 pages. I worked on them and returned the finished transcripts at the end of the week, on time right on the morning hour he wanted them. No mistakes. I was determined to land thatj

Thank you Courtney. This information has been quite helpful. I just happened to stumble upon your video in search for information on healthcare administration.
