This man intentionally plowed over a bunch of white people during the height of the BLM movement and he is not sorry. "It would be fair to say that you don't know if the bodies in the air were struck by a vehicle"...nah, they jumped up and threw themselves around for the heck of it! Muttering under your breath about and arguing with a distraught witness is not good form in front of a jury - especially when you get admonished by the prosecution for it. Not good form at all! And that Judge said what I've been saying for days - this clown wanted to play lawyer, he was warned over and over again that he would be held at the exact same standard as a defense attorney, and his defense team had done an insane amount of preparation already so the fact that now he wants to whine about being unprepared and unable to understand the law is his own damn fault. No sympathy there. Ignorance of the law is NOT a defense. He's been given far too much leeway already. I would have shut him down long ago and forced him to have back up counsel. But in a way this is a good thing because I'm confident the jury will convict, he'll get life, and he has ZERO grounds for appeal. Hooked, booked and cooked Brooks (or whatever you want to call yourself ).

He claimed he had a right to back up council. He did not. In Wisconsin his right to represent himself was honored and it specifically states it is then against the law to provide him with “back up” council. He could’ve paid for his own “back up” but the state then had no legal obligation and was forbidden from providing a public defender.

He keeps asking every witness about claims. He knows he is facing hundreds of lawsuits for wrongful death, injuries and mental anguish, lawsuits that will NEVER be paid. His mother should be held accountable for her part in this crime, she knew he didn't have a license and she was aware of past crimes involving her vehicle. If she had insurance it would no doubt not be enough to pay these claims and most insurance companies won't pay a claim for a driver that doesn't have a license or is willfully using the vehicle for a crime. Hopefully the victims will still go after her.

I have a feeling he took the keys. He doesn't "axe" for permission, he takes whatever he wants.. But, she could've called and reported it stolen every time he took it without permission. That's what I'd do to stop him from taking my car w/o my permission. She wouldn't do that, though, bc he'd be arrested, and she'd just have to bail him out again on yet another charge. Smh. He really held a lot of people hostage.. Sure the mom is complacent in this, but suing her would be useless. She's destitute and elderly. They won't get much from her..

@Inbetweenthelinesnow You misunderstood what I meant when I commented this over a year ago.. I meant he took the keys, and yea, more than likely, kept them. The whole point was that Darrell did what Darrell wanted to do.. He 100% did not ask permission from his mom for anything. He just did whatever he pleased. I'd blame the worthless judge who let him out on such a ridiculously low bond after running Erica over, more than I blame his mom in this.. His mom was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She had already lost her daughter, and her only child left is Darrell, an he's awful, but she's still his mother. You can't turn that love off bc he's a pos. The judge should have put him under a no bond hold bc he was already out on bond from shooting at his own nephew! Jmo ofc.

Has anyone else noticed that none of his questions are aimed at proving his innocence? They’re just random questions about the day. It must have been really hard for these poor people testifying, who had children injured in the parade, to have to answer his questions….a few looked like they wanted to knock him out, and rightly so! He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison…who knows, maybe prison justice will take care of him…they don’t take kindly to child murderers. There were so many areas he could have pulled off the parade route, or just stopped his car, but he didn’t…..He definitely intended to kill/injure those people.
@leahbia82

He basically quizzed everybody on everything he had access to, to hopefully catch them in a lie. He doesn't understand that they were prepped by the state to refresh their memories and he thinks that is a conspiracy. It's proper. That's why none of his Witnesses remembered anything because he didn't prep them. The fact that he went through the entire trial and still didn't understand the difference between a police officer's summary report and a witness statement is hilarious. In his mind, these people wrote the police officer summary report. LOL. It was explained to him a dozen times and he still didn't get it. "Well I'm reading right from their report." No!! it's not THEIR REPORT! He put on the worst defense ever by wasting time and his irrelevant cross, as well as his opening and closing statements which were all about him and his feelings, rather than trying to get them to believe it wasn't intentional. My personal favorite is how he blatantly disregards who they are saying was seen injured by asking if there was anybody else. Like them not seeing anybody else injured means he didn't intend to do it. What he's really saying is if there were thousands of people there and I didn't hit every single one, it wasn't intentional. LOL. The simple fact that he didn't stop after the first person proves his intent. This was such an easy case with overwhelming evidence and he was an idiot to represent himself. I don't think he intended to get onto the parade route and kill people. He was in a fit of road rage after his fight with Erika (and his road rage incident at the gas station) and he wanted to get through there because they called the cops on him. That's why he panicked when he saw cops everywhere on the parade route because he thought they were after him, so he didn't want to stop. In reality, they had no idea what was going on and at the very beginning of the parade route, he could have just had them move a barricade to let him off. There was so much going on, they weren't worried about him. He's such a narcissist he doesn't realize that probably still to this day. It's like hmm.. kill an injure people or worst case-get a ticket for going through a barricade? Tough choice! 😂 They were very smart in picking their charges for him. With intentional homicide, they didn't have to prove motive. They also didn't have to prove any injury for the recklessly endangering safety... they just needed to prove that he was aware that driving through a parade route may possibly endanger the safety of people.
@leahbia82
@leahbia82 2 жыл бұрын
In addition to my other long comment.. check out later in the case when the medical examiners are testifying to the Fatal injuries. He fakes emotion when he sees somebody on the stand showing emotion, he mimics it. The way he did it for the medical examiner when she got all choked up over Jackson Sparks, was literally sickening. It was so fake. It's all for show and so transparent, but he really thinks he's fooling people. Nobody could mistake that BS for genuine emotion. Pathetic. I loved how she kept repeating the names of his victims to him as he asks her if there were only three that she tended to. If you are just now watching this, I highly recommend watching the whole thing from start to finish. On Law and crime Channel they have day 1, day 2, etc as one video... wear Court TV breaks at lunch every day so there are two per day. Once they get to the officer who shot at him at the end of the parade route and into his fleeing the vehicle, getting captured, interrogation, DNA evidence, it really gets good. He's literally learning this information as he hears it when he has all of the discovery materials at his fingertips. He is so unprepared.

How is he saving the taxpayers money? He may be representing himself now but he still had public defenders that were paid. By him continuing to drag out this proceeding he is costing the state more in jury fees, his constant filings he is asking the court and the state to file and his general playing ignorant to his actions. The taxpayers will be supporting this murderer for the rest of his hopefully, extremely short, miserable life. He took 6 lives, wounded over 50 more and permanently changed the lives of hundreds due to a conscious decision he made to maliciously run down innocent victims. They didn't have a chose as to how they would live or end their lives, he shouldn't either.

It being two years later. The state did not need two speed experts. Why they needed even one actually. Recrossing Casey was also dragging the case on. With the drone video especially. They already went through the parade goers. Tricking him with that still shot of his back to the camera. Standing next to the SUV in question. They had proven their case WAY before then. They too dragged the case on longer, just to prove a case that was a slam dunk from the get go. AND the judge? She definitely ran her mouth longer than needed. Judging by everyone’s demeanor they are annoyed with him. I’m annoyed and I’m just watching on YT. He doesn’t have the mental capacity to notice. A true sociopath . I feel for his victims. He has 0 empathy and never will. We’re getting a small glimpse of DB as a person- annoying,evil, etc. I can only imagine the stories his family has, especially his ex girlfriend/children-stories they probably can’t tell due to trauma.Having to deal with him up until he committed an act so violent.
