I'm a criminal defense attorney in California. In my opinion, James Owens' performance was horrible. However, Suitcase Sarah was destined for a guilty verdict because she had no reasonable doubt story. She reminds me of many clients I had who thought they could talk their way out of it despite the overwhelming evidence against them. Suitcase Sarah deserves the highest sentence under the law. She wasted the time and resources of the court. She offended the victim's family. She showed zero remorse. Suitcase Sarah stared into the abyss, and the abyss laughed at her with the strong odor of wine on its breath

Every time Jorge was arrested he had injuries. Injuries to his face, neck and arms yet because he was afraid to tell the police what Sarah did to him they don’t arrest Sarah. Every time the no contact order was broken Sarah should have also been arrested. No contact orders apply to both parties. Law enforcement failed Jorge who was the true victim and it cost him his life. Police need to investigate further to determine who is the aggressor. Especially when there have been so many calls to 911. Jorge couldn’t call 911 because he didn’t have free access to the phone. He didn’t know the password. When you look at all the facts and circumstances in this case it’s clear as day. Jorge Torres suffered from horrific abuse by the person who had complete power and control over him. Sarah Boone is an abuser and a malicious murd@r@r!

Owens did a horrible job. And it's so obvious he had rehearsed with Sarah some of what she was saying on the stand, but she was struggling to keep her story straight, especially when the prosecutor started. So many stupid lies! For example, when Owens was questioning her, she said, "the dogs ran upstairs with me." But when the state asked the exact same question 30 minutes later, she said, "the dogs were already upstairs." And that pathetic act she put on, trying to describe Jorge's hand coming through the supposed opening in the suitcase lid: she kept describing it as, "please stop trying to break through! Please stop doing this to me!" THAT supposedly happened in the "mystery" space between the two videos, when she had JUST finished taunting him, while he was begging for his life. It's all so ridiculous, and Owens is such an idiot for taking the case. His legacy is permanently damaged. We all know he was going for book and movie deals as a means of "payment." But now, since Sarah is guilty, they can't profit from Jorge's death. Idiot Sarah refused the plea bargain of a lifetime! She would have been out of prison in less than 10 years, possibly sooner with parole possibilities. Now, i have no doubt judge Kraynick will certainly give her 22.5 years to life with the possibility of parole, but the way Sarah will appeal everything, and will never admit her part in Jorge's death, no parole board will entertain the idea of releasing her into society.

I'm also glad you noticed the absurd and offensive assertion by Sarah that Jorge's attempts to save himself from suffocating to death inside the suitcase caused her to fear for her life so greatly that she exclaimed "Please stop doing this to me, PLEASE STOP doing this to me!' and then struck Jorge's fingers with a baseball bat so that he was forced to stop trying to get oxygen. I don't how the jury kept from screaming at her when she said that. Furthermore, can we take a brief moment and acknowledge the absolute absurdity and offensive nature of Owens' claim that Sarah Boone isnt criminally responsible for what she did to Jorge because "Jorge is a grown adult, and he got into the suitcase of his own free will." Absolutely absurd argument. That's no different than if you jump into a swimming pool because you want to go for a swim, but then I come along and close the pool's retractable cover, causing you to be trapped beneath the water, and then I laugh and ignore your pleas for help as you drown beneath the pool cover and the water. Owens would surely argue that I was not responsible for your drowning, because hey, after all, you got into the swimming pool of your own free will! Absolutely absurd argument, and I'm sure it made the jury angry.
