Hold the parents responsible. If they raised the child right, then our hero would still have his stuff. Fwiw, the child deliberately broke in to his room. The father wanted to compensate our hero, but his wife said no. Kids will be kids, she says. So the husband says that she should give her valuables to our hero to appease him. Me,personally, I would have demanded my money NOW.

She never put herself in her cousin's shoes. She couldn't give a flying flip into rolling doughnut on a gravel driveway about that guy's collections. Her mindset was *_"My child can do no wrong! You shouldn't be collecting toys and worthless $#!+ in the first place! You're a grown-up! Your hobbies are a waste of time and money, and you look like creep/pervert/dumb-ass/loser/pedo for doing so!!_* Well, that $#!+-headed idiot mom is paying through the nose for it NOW!!!

I collect crystals and believe me that's an expensive hobby. I know I would go ballistic as well if a kid destroyed them and then their parent said it was no big deal and not apologize.

I agree if my stuff was destroyed (especially if the items aren't in print anymore or limited edition) I would be devastated and I would make them pay through the nose to compensate me for the damage especially if there was sentimental value in the items

For anyone curious they likely meant yen and didn't do conversion . It would be $20,419.84 by today's conversion rate. Americans would not be able to get 3 million easily. That would be 482,844,080.06 yen. The average yearly income for the Japanese is 5.2 million yen. Spending it all towards repayment it would take 92.85 years to repay. In the US the average salary is 37,585 a year. To repay 3.14 million it would take 83.54 years. To repay 3.14 million yen would take a year or two on a part time job. This is why conversion is important.

Yeah, that part I can't get. She didn't ask where the toys came from, didn't do a thing when they were broken in front of her, even though she knew the toys weren't her daughter's... what a lazy and hateful mother. She probably didn't like OP even before all this and was totally okay with sticking it to him by proxy, letting her daughter do the damage and going "oopsie" afterwards. Good thing her hubby and her parents knew what was up with collections, but even then, some simple teachings of "if it's not yours, don't mess with it." or "if you break it, you bought it" could go a long way, and punish the little brat when they ignore those rules... you don't let them get more stuff to break and just sit there!

Woman just because your son is still a child doesn’t mean the responsibility won’t still fall on you! as his parent you are responsible for enabling his behavior, and therefore pay the consequences of your child’s actions! Honestly this reminds me of my own older sisters kids….. just because they have anxiety and ADHD she lets them get away with everything including talking to her and cussing like crazy and she refuses to listen to anyone!!

My husband collected GI joes since 1987 age 7 a hobby him and his father shared. Both were veterans and it connected father and son for years. Our son loves them too and my husband and son collects the new Gi joe classified figures. My cousins children respect everything on our house and they started to collect Gundam and model kits. Children who respect grow up to be respectful individuals.

I remember a Reddit story in the past where the wife and her father-in-law threw away the husband's collection. When the husband found out what they did,. He sued both of them. It turned out his collection was worth over $250,000. He divorced her, and disowned his father. And they both had to pay. Also, he took custody of the kids. And his kids that love the collection, never forgave their mother or the grandfather.

Damn, I have to find that story now. Wonder what the collection was about, and I guess they figured "he's an adult and doesn't need such childish things." What the hell ever happened to "if it's not yours, don't mess with it!" Sheesh... guess she complained about how childish or odd it made him seem ("what are people going to think" at play...ugh) and Dad was of the same mind. I'm gonna look that up.

$3.14 million dollars that is a whole lot of money it'll take years to get that amount if that wasn't enough then the price would be escalated a whole lot further and his cousin felt remorseful for what happened plus some rare items r hard 2 come by and some places that are like comic books, manga, video games, movies (📼 ,VCRS Rare) record players and some DVDs even vehicle parts rather if it is a 🚛 , 🚗 , 🚢 ,✈️, and in some instruments some of those are very hard to come by depending on how much it is and but some of them is worth a lot of money

Plus not only some of those Gundam models aren't cheap but some are limiting made. Especially customized one or build it yourself model kit. If I'm not mistaken, this actually happened in real life. The owner shared the video and when I saw it, it was like a hurricane hit to his rooms. All of his plastic models, computer, gaming chair, etc were beyond repaired. If not wrong, it was his cousin's two kids and same, they told him it was an accident and refuse to pay for the damages

The most of embarasing part how can she not teach her daughter about care things around stuff seriously when she grow she even didn't care to destroy someone else property like cars, vase, and others things just so you know say word still a kid those word wouldn't last long this mother need to teach her how to take care things and someone else property
