Nice video, simple and straight to the point. I HATE using the rose/brown cardboard paper to cover floors especially carpet it has ZERO flex so i was looking for different ways to cover carpet

Hi thanks for this. Can the plastic be re used on a different room?
@DaveMartin29 күн бұрын
That's problematic. Once the plastic has paint on it and you have taped to it, it's kind of a pain to pull it up carefully and reuse it. The paint you get on the plastic, once dried, will also flake off and can make a mess if you are not careful. If you are just laying plastic over furniture in the middle of the room and not getting too much paint on it, then yes, you could easily reuse it then.

Thank you for the demonstration. Does the carpet mask leave a sticky residue after you take it off? I have read many other types of sticky carpet protectors ends up leaving a hard residue on the soft carpets. Also up to how many days can we leave this on?
@DaveMartin4 жыл бұрын
As I have heard of this problem, it has never happened to me. One thing to keep in mind is the kind of carpet you are applying the masking to. According to the directions, it is not recommended on wool carpets, but not because of residue, but because it can pull up the pilings. Also, if the carpet has just been recently installed, you should let it sit for a few days before putting down the masking. I have left the masking on as long as 3 months and, again, have never had an issue, and it has never left a residue. If you are concerned, and have the time, you may want to test it for a couple of days in an inconspicuous area.

What construction situation would require this much carpet protection?

what do you charge to install this carpet shield?
@simonmaverick92014 ай бұрын
It will probably cost nearly as mich as the paint.

Do you just use carpet protector around the perimeter and plastic sheet in the middle of the room? Or do you have carpet protector throughout the room?
@DaveMartin3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the job. Most of the time however, I use carpet protector around the perimeter and plastic in the middle. Using carpet protector in the high traffic areas is another way to approach it.

The person remodeling my bathroom used this on my linoleum and after the construction was done it will not come off. Does anyone know how to get it off without damaging the floor?
@DaveMartin29 күн бұрын
Ya, that's a problem. For anyone reading this, only use this product on carpet. I'm assuming it's the glue residue that is left behind, or is it the carpet protector itself? Either way, be careful about using Goof Off or the like on the floor as it will dull those finishes. Let me know if you have not had any luck, I will do some research and see if I can find a solution.

@@DaveMartin it was both the film and the adhesive. I could only get off small pieces after hours of trying to get it lose. I have a bad back ( 2 spinal surgeries) and also limited funds so have been working on it a little bit at a time. I’ve tried everything. I probably need to redo the floor but being retired I have limits. I tried a hair dryer recently and it seemed to help. Only time will tell.

man that must be charged well, I got a job like that with carpet and things in the house they piled it up in the middle of the rooms, but I don't want to spray it because all those things get in the way
