Hi Steven. Your fix for this situation is best one. Stripping back to bare wood to treat knot staining would take far too long & use more paint for same result. 👍

Thankyou very much.

I drill knots out. Then two pac the hole. Never going to have a problem with those coming through again...

Great stuff, definitely no knots bleeding after doing that.

@@Inexteriors Ha! No chance, no. Sounds a bit OTT but it's not much hassle really. Two pac deep bits then Toupret on top if there's a fair few to do. Probably doing myself out of future work though!

Thanks for this video. I was wondering about this as Ive got a job coming up with lots of knots showing through painted wood and was wondering the best / cheapest product to use on the knots. Didnt want to buy a tin of Zinnser BIN just for this. Cheers.

I’ve always used zinsser coverstain (oil based), which dries quickly, works well, and you can paint over it with water based paints. Never thought to try knotting solution on painted wood before, so will give it a go.

I will try the cover stain. i did put extra coat of Johnston's aqua undercoat on the knotted parts to help with coverage.

Zinnser Bin on bare wood knots and painted wood with the knot stain bleeding through, seems to work well and no complaints from customers.

I thought the bin would work. Thankyou for the input, much appreciated.

BIN works fine too, just spot prime the stains with it. Easier covered than knotting solution too with white underciats/finish paints.
