I think we’re in a unique position to show empathy to all doctors through videos like these. There are so many positive things they accomplish. He seems uniquely well adjusted to that roller coaster of a lifestyle. Alot you could say, but never mind that and all the applause. A joke. One nut is chasing another nut and says “Imma cashew”.

Later that night a staff scolded him for blue ink (One day may she receive in return all the darkness she gave). He was Dedicated!! And I remember moving furniture for him to get bedside. So with the AC not being on and a patient bleeding a lot, does the hot temperature not make them bleed more? Just curious sorry may be a dumb question.
@coreyvural14954 жыл бұрын
In general you worry about hypothermia with trauma pts, not hyperthermia. Most trauma ORs have the temp cranked way up to try to keep the pt warm. If you get cold, your body gets worse at clotting your blood and you bleed way more.

@@nextthe9651 I get what you're saying but I'd say it's about finding a balance. Work hard then play hard. You have to know yourself to recognize your limits so you can minimize burnout and work in self-care as needed. I've done some tough jobs before (nonprofit construction with long hours) and I've found that for me personally I enjoy the challenge of finding that balance while doing what I can to serve others. Deciding to go into medicine should definitely not be done on a whim!

if that is your couch ... the bookshelves in the back match mine almost IDENTICALLY. although i have the couch FACING the bookshelves and a pair of chairs facing the couch with a nice coffee table in the middle. and the fireplace is right there too!! perfect for cold winters when the electricity goes out ... i still have heat! not a fan of my neighbor ... but what can you do. question - i am having some very serious problems with MANY MANY MANY varicosities in BOTH of my legs and they "think" the biggest source of trouble is the "great saphenous vein" (although i also have issues with "leakage" of my deep veins, i.e., the blood doesn't flow one way as it should but it goes both ways - i am sure you know that but for anyone who is reading this who might not know!) but i will have a better idea of what i'm up against on wednesday. is something like an ultrasound-guided vein closure (not just the rather odd issues i am facing, but just in general) via injection, catheter, or removal aided by an interventional radiologist? i am just curious!! i am not even in med school yet but i have found interest in so many specialties that i never thought would be interesting just by doing as much "shadowing" as i can at the moment! *i have behcet's - and legit, systemic, neurological-involved Behcet's (there seems to be a tsunami of Behcet's "diagnoses" flooding the country now but i would wager to a guess that 70% of these "diagnosed" patients really do not have Behcet's because they do not even meet the diagnostic criteria, which, in my opinion, are already extraordinarily "lax." i do see Dr. Yazici at NYU Langone and I am one of the few patients he has "kept on" after so many years .... at any rate, a little backstory, a little prodding to see if you know any of the NYU Langone doctors (or if you are one!), and a few questions whose answers I would love to know! Thanks much again! p.s. i have a very long story that i will try to abbreviate to the best of my abilities. the first KNOWN GI bleed I had happened in my "sophomore" year at CMU (I never really had a full "freshman" yeah and I also did "skip" 11th grade) - at any rate, it was the spring semester and I got placed in a dorm with a really nice Chinese girl whose roommate had taken the semester to study abroad. at any rate, i had been placed on Imuran (it was not until much later that I had the labs to prove that like a relatively high percentage of the population who cannot metabolize this medication, it also just accumulated and accumulated and my already bad immune system - I have CVID as well - tanked when I contracted some 24-hr "stomach bug" that was circling the dorm. I had gotten up to go to the bathroom because I felt like I was going to be sick and I must have blacked out on the floor ... thankfully it was REALLY early in the AM bc my roommate heard me thunk to the ground and SCREAMED. i woke up and found myself face first in a pile of bloody vomit. Finally, things got so bad that I had to call the Health Center who had to call Campus Security to carry me down the steps to the car and then back up and into the Health Center because I was so weak I couldn't carry my own body weight. At the Health Center I was tested and I WAS BLEEDING INTERALLY. They called the ambulance and I don't really remember much after that other than being in the ambulance for like a 6-block drive and the only bit I remember was being unconscious and then conscious for a fraction of a minute - long enough to hear the paramedics shouting "SHE IS CRASHING!" and then I was back out. I do not remember going into the hospital. I do not remember waiting for my mom to drive the 6+ hour-long drive to Pittsburgh. I was EXTRAORDINARILY hypotensive and I am very fortunate not only that they got me to the hospital so quickly but that I had been in a room with a roommate and she had actually been there. If those things wouldn't have played out the way they did, if my roommate had stayed at the CS labs writing code all night, I would have been found dead, I am quite sure. But that was only the first of a VERY long chain of "internal bleeding" and colonoscopies and hospitalizations - one of which "gave" me C. Diff. And this was before things got BAD with the Behcet's. What is my point to anyone who might be reading? YOU REALLY DO NOT WANT TO GET "COVID." the vascular manifestations creep me out so badly ... when i see those slides of any biopsy and there are more blood clots than you could ever attempt to count.... it's terrifying. STAY HOME. STAY SAFE. BE WELL. KEEP YOUR FAMILY WELL! &C.!
