Cow Abscess Gets Drained

Cow 2623 gets a second trip to the vet to have her abscess drained. Her vet is Dr. Horn with Young Animal's Hospital in Hillsboro, TX.

@@Eden9.13 They aren’t going to respond. I think they had enough horrified responses that they know this was an unnecessarily brutal way to deal with this. That poor cow was in so much pain. If that animal was mine, I would insist upon pain medication, but I guess some owners don’t give a crap about their animal’s comfort.

Every vet here in the USA cares for their patients with high morals. Do no harm. Most videos on KZbin don't show them(animals and people) getting stuck with the needle to get numb. Why? Because of us complaining that we just want to see the pus flowing out. Please don't get snarky at them! They know what to do.

Wow! Another educational video. I’m assuming the foaming from the mouth is due to the infection/abscess? Is that the abscess that was pulled out? It looks like fat or soft tissue parts. What causes the abscess? As far as the incisions, no stitches needed? Will heal naturally? I’m certain she feels a lot better ❤🙏🏽

She healed naturally. I don't know the cause of the abscess. All I can tell you it was an infection. And yes that was dried up mucus she pulled out.

Why is it that i see most of these people stabbing the animal high up on the abcess and then stab it again down lower when they figure out it isnt draining but there is still a lot of infection that isnt coming out? Some dont even stab down low at all... makes no sense other than not being trained properly 😢

As I said in previous posts…..things happen beyond your control on a ranch. This was her second visit. It could have been a snake bite. This can cause an abscess. I am sorry the cow was in pain, but i think the vet did a great job, as did the owner. If the owner didn't care about his animals, i doubt he would have taken the cow to the vet. Farm life is messy sometimes. And sometimes these abcesses are hard to see right away.
