I remember cooking like this in the Boy Scouts when I was younger. We would bury sweet potatoes wrapped in tin foil then build our campfire on top of that. Goof off a few hours, cook dinner on the campfire, then dig the cooked sweet potatoes out for desert later on. This channel brings back a lot of memories. I cant wait to make this.

Lots of great memories for me in scouts also. Tin foil dinner was one of my favorites. And a good cobbler. And a snipe hunt before bed , I still sleep better on the ground in sleeping bag

Glad to see that you are a man the loves the flag and what it stands for , I was unfortunately not able to serve in the military due to an accident the day before I was supposed to leave for boot camp so I too love this country and I'm very thankful for the man and women that serve and have served and have made the ultimate sacrifice and gave there lives Amen!

I have a recipe that is good. I used Bush's baked beans, bell peppers, jalapeno, diced tomatoes, onions, mustard, gramma molasses, ketchup, bacon, and cooked sliced bratwurst. I would smoke it then i would bake in the oven to brown the bacon. Love your recipes.

I make a version of this I came up with my self and have made for years. I started by using broken up hamburgers that I had grilled and just use to brake up in the beans, I use baked beans, pinto beans, kidney beans and butter beans in mine. Sometimes I throw in some grilled dogs as well. But other then that real close to your recipe. Yun yum some good eats for sure!!

If you dumped a couple of boxes of Jiffy Mix corn bread mix on top of that and cook it until the CB id done that would be almost like what we call Tamale pie, and it would be good!

I didn't get to eat off a chuck wagon when I worked cattle, but lordy, my buddies grandma cooked for us! I'll never forget my first lunch on the ranch, (his grandad called it dinner) she made us thick slabs of ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, French fries, and fried chicken. Just at lunch time! Ranchers sure do eat, but those years was some hard, hard work.

A BBQ joint we used to frequent (we've since moved away) would mix the crumbles and broken bits of brisket into beans and sell the mixture as Bean-o-cue. It was pretty tasty stuff.

When I was growing up I would hear the word scraple, which is something totally different. SOS is a stir fry with ground beef and pork'n beans, onion, garlic, ketchup, mustard and alittle water. Then cook it down until most the liquid is gown. Serve over toast. Mmmmm 😋 good
